That's a sweet collection of Libertads brother. I have a major problem with the premium on them but I think you convinced me to buy at least a one tenth gold coin. I never realized how low the mintage on them was and understand why they are such high premium items. This was a great video bro. Keep on keepin on, your doing a great job with your channel.
I also love libertads, both gold and silver, including all of the gold pesos from the 50 pesos on down . Although they're beautiful, I stay away from anything proof, especially silver. Had them before and the tarnishing just kills me when I think of the premiums I paid that will never be recovered. Sold all of them at spot because I couldn't stand to look at them. The 50 gold pesos actually has very low premiums and I'm considering selling mine to pick up the older bu libertads, gold and silver. They are definitely beautiful coins and are my favorite.
@@StatesideStash I started with regular slabbed proofs and due to my experience never pursued the reverse proofs, which commanded higher premiums so I'm unaware of any issues. As a side note, my proofs were kept in a climate controlled environment (SDB at a bank) and they still tarnished. That's my experience and hopefully won't be anyone else's. Best of luck.
Normally, I’ll get a small handful of silver Libertads every year. I did spring for a whole tube of ‘23s last year, when there was a good deal. I have just two fractional gold ones, a 1/2 oz and a 1/4 oz. Not a major buyer, but I do love me some Libertads!
The Libertad is indeed a beautiful coin. That is also why i collect Morgans and not silver Eagles. Not a fan of the gold Eagle series either. Pre 1933 gold is better and not so prominently copper colored, even though they also have about 10% copper as well. Thanks for motivating me to start stacking again. Haven't stacked since 2015 until i came across your channel!
John it makes me happy to hear this channel is doing some good! I absolutely love Morgan dollars. Seems like you didn’t lose a step and starting right where you left off

I LOVE Libertads but tbh I dont think anything will beat the Maple as far as shear beauty. I wish RCM a long with any other mints would offer the multitude of choices as Libertads tho. Great video!
Thanks for pointing out the mintage. I have been into coins for about a year, and I was drawn to Libertads. I live in Texas. I just never understood why people would be so gung ho about ASE and the mintages. I would rather pay a slightly higher premium for a Libertad. Libertad looks better, far rarer, and will go up in value over time. Only the Perth Mint can compete with Libertad Kilos. God they just feel so good in hand. Chunky monkey indeed! Great video. The Reverse proofs just take my breath away.
I love them, I just hate the price. I'm slowy trying to fill a tube of 1oz. Buying when I can find them for a decent price that my bank account will allow. hahaha

As with silver Eagles, you will likely not get your premium back for silver Libertads. (I've never owned gold Libertads so I can't address what the market is like for those.) In my area, none of the six coin shops near me were impressed when I went to sell some of my excess silver Libertads, Brits, Noah's Arks, Phils, Maples, and Kangaroos--they all just looked at them as ounces of silver. And yes, I did pay the highest premiums for the silver Libertads back when I bought them. I like all sovereign coins because they look nice, but honestly, to me it doesn't seem worth it to pile them up if you're a stacker. Heck, in today's market, I'm having a hard time even getting spot for silver Eagles.
I got a Libertad gold reverse proof 2018 PR-70 NGC slab, which is very pretty, but my sigma metalytics pro reads it as 98% pure gold but coin says .999. So is it a quality issue with Mexican mint?

Yay! I have found TWO Libertads! I don't remember how I got them, but figure it was at least ten years ago. One looks like a plain bullion kind 1 ouncer, but not bust up or dirty. Probably genuine.
