I thaught that this Aria was anonymous!?
The original is, this is an arrangement by Britten
German composer Flotow incorporated the melody into the opera "Martha" where it occurs throughout as a kind of motif.That's how I first heard it.@@Chris-wm4th
he pronouces the english like the germany 😜😜
The heading is of course absurd, but actually worse as many people will be under the impression Britten wrote this once very well-known melody.
