Day Hike in The Bruce Peninsula National Park

My buddy Rob and I had been talking about going on a hike for years. He surprised me with wanting to go as far North as The Bruce Peninsula and as much as 18 KMs. It was a very early morning, a long drive but we had a beautiful day for hiking on the Bruce Trail and the views did not disappoint!
Of course it probably wasn't the best move on my part. I hadn't hiked - AT ALL - since my return from Scotland and I was in very poor shape. This became even more evident on our return when both my vastus medialis muscles (the teardrop shaped muscle of the quad) started spasming! I could actually feel my leg tense and quake as I was attempting to hike back to the car. Needless to say, I had to take many breaks over the last 8 KMs or so but was otherwise no worse for wear.
So anyone coming off of a big hike, keep active!!!
