I just passed my Fitness and Medical test flawless. Also finished my candidate application profile, and just received my Congressional Nomination. Now its just a waiting game! USMAPS Class of 2014 Here I come!!!!!
A couple things that helped my son get in are 1) He joined a junior R.O.T.C. program at his high school . 2) He attended The National Youth Leadership conference in Washington D.C. 3) He contacted our state's congressman and senators . . Do well in school and use all contacts available to you and go for it . Have teachers , mentors , veterans and others that know you well write letters to your congressmen / senators . Best of luck .--A West Point Dad
Ever since my Dad told me about West Point, it has been my inspiration to do well in school and sports. I'm only an early teenager and I'm 100% sure I want to go to West Point! Just hope I can get in...
i'm a first generation chinese with parents who immigrated from taiwan i'm going to finish 11 AP classes by the time i graduate, with only a's and b's on my transcript 3.73 unweighted gpa, 4.18 weighted captain of wrestling for 2 years, varsity all 4 years went to nicaragua for a leadership/community service program, ended up creating a club for my peers and sent 7 more kids from my school to nicaragua i volunteer at stanford hospital on weekends and help handicapped kids kids
I was there this past weekend!! It was amazing and big. It isn't the stereotypical #1 school. There was a very relaxed felling about the classes that i liked. I definetly want to go there.
I went to West Point, class of 1990, but had to leave half way through my second year due to a medical illness. It really is as exciting as the video makes it out to be. After I went to a large regular university and graduated but I was real depressed because it was nothing like the prestige and excitement of USMA. If you can´t get into West Point then go to one of the other universities that have a Corps which are not as difficult to get into like the Citadel or one of the other five.
I'm a 12 year old girl in Jr. high. I plan to go to Westpoint and have dreamed of it for about 2 years now. I wrote a note to myself that I try to read everyday: A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, nor tolerate those who do. When we redo my bedroom I'm going to have the words "Duty, Honor, Country" painted on my wall. I am a proud American and I would give my life for my country any day. I respect the men and women who make it through their 4 years and I hope to see the day that I do too.
Vocês fazem a diferença.
My friend who is also my classmate just got recruited last week sign a 10 year contract with the marines and got a scholarship to play football at west point GO TEAM BAGGETT.
Our football team plays regular colleges and the other service academies. So yes we will play Navy and we play Air Force, but we also play places like Stanford, Rutgers, etc.
Check the West Point website under the admissions tab. They have something called International Cadets or something like that. Your government pays for your education then you're commissioned in that army. (of course I'm only repeating stuff you already know)
Oh yeah, for the CFA, the instructions are the third to last on the right side on the admissions tab. JROTC- You can join another school's JROTC which is called "magnet schooling" look it up. Its possible and completely acceptable, thats how home schooled kids participate in JROTC. If this is possible for you, go for it. If not, look for outdoor clubs and the Boy Scouts. Check your school and city website for a list of clubs that you could join. Leadership is the second most important thing.
I hear the call to lead quite loudly in recent days. But I simply don't have the physical capability to serve the country in the capacity West Point offers. That's why I intend to study international relations and enter our nation's civil service in the State Department or in our foreign service as a diplomat. Any advice?
@117MrSmiley No. West point is specifically Army. But yes, you can become a Ranger after graduation. It takes being one of the top contenders in your class. Its the same for Aviation as well. There are colleges that offer all branches though. Fir example, VMI, offers all ROTC's, so if you wanted to become a Marine, you can do so through the Navy ROTC. If you want to join the air force, you can do it through AFROTC, and so on and so forth.
I like my country Italy,Rome but I really wanna work and protect America because I feel it deep in my heart that nothing is gonna stop me this vid really estimates you. Age 13 year old boy Worky Student I don't know how to enter but I'll find out because I'm still in the 7 grade 2 years left.
West Point students graduate with a BA I think, as an Army Officer a free college education, they are paid around 8000 a year to attend the academy and just by being accepted are in the better percentile. What are you doing with your life?
The acceptance rate is roughly between 10-12%. And those 10% almost universally come from the top 5% in their high school classes. No only do they go in being the best, they come out even better.
@teenageanarchist1 I don't know if you found the answer yet, but the application steps are the same for Soldiers and civilians who apply. However, Soldiers can obtain a nomination from their company commanders and are automatically considered for the Preparatory School if not directly admitted to West Point. (Copied and Pasted off of their website.)
yes graduates see combat after they leave west point they serve 4 or more years after they leave. Serving four years is why, if you get in to west point it is free
@zaccarodavid im in the same vote as you and simlilar to your position I"m having trouble getting an appointment. Did you ever get someone to contact you?
i have a question. after westpoint, i serve as an officer. but i heard officers dont really see alot of combat. is this true? plus im not an athletic person at ALL and i really want to go to westpoint and army not because its cool. yes it is cool, but i want to become stronger and a strong leader.
@WPUSMA1 I've wanted to do go the academy ever since freshman year. Been working hard in academics and leadership. I've been fully involved in stuff and have a 92-93 average. Any advice?
I was perfectly set for westpoint until my parents intervened...now i have to hide the fact that im applying again so they dont get involved with shredding my applications :(
Academics: Check Sports: Check Leadership: Continue to find official leadership positions. Thats your only problem. Look at student government, Boy Scouts, JROTC, etc... Community Service: Check Also practice for the CFA and look into the Summer Seminar and Boys' State during your junior year. High standardized test scores and a high GPA are extremely important and it looks like you've already got that handled.
@ToxicAsian5702 I also would wish to attend westpoint when im of age but would like to know if I would need straight A's or if a few B's are acceptable on my report card. Also 14 and 8th grade :p
I just passed my Fitness and Medical test flawless. Also finished my candidate application profile, and just received my Congressional Nomination. Now its just a waiting game! USMAPS Class of 2014 Here I come!!!!!

Did you get in?
That academy would be my dream to attend. Wish I lived in the US to apply and then serve the country after graduating.
Im only a freshman but its my dream to go to either west point or the air force academy to be a fighter pilot

This and the Air Force Academy are probably the best colleges in the nation because of all the training, education, and leadership.
Pela infomação que tenho,Concrdo Plenamente.

I've gotta get in there. only college i'd ever go to. hell, they were even drilling with my favorite battle rifle, the m14.
This video motivates me even more to receive an education at West Point
did you recieve an education there?
Check the West Point website under the admissions tab. They have something called International Cadets or something like that. Your government pays for your education then you're commissioned in that army. (of course I'm only repeating stuff you already know)
My brother goes to West Point and I'm determined to go there as well. There is no other school I would rather go.
Oh yeah, for the CFA, the instructions are the third to last on the right side on the admissions tab.

I went to visit there, it changed everything to me. I'd like to go there some day. xD

@Dproc135 actually the U.S. Coast Guard Academy pays you $11,500 a year but west point still is a great school I hope to get into in a few years

i want be there so badly
Hoa. i really hope i can go and play football there.
I will be applying soon. My grades are fair, but I'm not sure if they are high enough. Anyone know the needed GPA?
@zaccarodavid im in the same vote as you and simlilar to your position I"m having trouble getting an appointment. Did you ever get someone to contact you?
I want to study at West Point Academic Military.
You don't have to go into the Army after graduation. My cousin switched with a naval academy graduate on graduation day and went into the Navy.
@VladArtRo of course it does...because it is a 4 year college.
No willing soldiers, no war.
Cause the Army is badass that's why!
@WPUSMA1 do you go to west point or work there?
@IpvBeastly the air force academy in colorado springs, colorado
i have a question. after westpoint, i serve as an officer. but i heard officers dont really see alot of combat. is this true? plus im not an athletic person at ALL and i really want to go to westpoint and army not because its cool. yes it is cool, but i want to become stronger and a strong leader.
One day. Hopefully soon.
@WPUSMA1 I've wanted to do go the academy ever since freshman year. Been working hard in academics and leadership.
I've been fully involved in stuff and have a 92-93 average. Any advice?
@linmax08 They look for leadership. Being an Eagle Scout helps, being in student government helps, but yes, it is also good to be in a team sport.
I was perfectly set for westpoint until my parents intervened...now i have to hide the fact that im applying again so they dont get involved with shredding my applications :(
@CsMusicForGod same! Won't BEAST be fun..
no, i meant VMI ALSO uses it. no beef!

c/o 2007 Always Remember.
Exactly. Why else would it be one of the hardest colleges to get into in the whole nation.
@ToxicAsian5702 I also would wish to attend westpoint when im of age but would like to know if I would need straight A's or if a few B's are acceptable on my report card. Also 14 and 8th grade :p
KayJunior: congratulations.
DLB Class of 1965
Congratulations 👏 👏 👏 THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
Anyone know the name of the piece of music played at the end?
Would graduates see any combat?
