Friday the 13th George Only (No kid/counselor deaths)

- George. The guy that only gets a chance when someone tries to select Mark or Crissy but misses. He might be slow, be might have a goofy grin, but he does start spawning items after 2 zombie kills, because that... Means.... Something?
This Friday the 13th Challenge was a George only run. I was hoping to do a no hit one, but it ended up being no children/counselor deaths instead, so no hit is still on the table. If you have challenges you'd like to see let me know in the comments, and if they're not impossible for some reason, I'll add them to the list!

LJN made a game mostly competently and is actually a guilty pleasure once in a while. The thing that's so amazing to me is that Jason moves in the small world as if he's in real time!
This game doesn't get the respect it deserves. It's really well done, they just didn't explain anything about how it worked. Learning that Jason has a set route was a game changer for me. As a kid I always thought he was randomly moving around, but it's a lot more fun being able to follow him everywhere!

Thanks! It’s a real change of pace (pun intended) to play as one of the slow characters, since I generally go right for Crissy in most challenge runs. I wish there was some way to avoid damage in path fights with slow counselors though, doing no hit runs with them is a lot of waiting for him to hit someone in a cabin.

30 years lol I figured out a few things.. still haven't figure out to get to day 2 lol
@@johhnn Getting to Day 2 the first time is a huge mountain to climb! I still remember thinking I had finished the game as a kid, only to quickly learn that there was more. Jason caved my head in pretty fast from that point.
Getting the quick torch is a huge help as far as advancing goes, since it does 1 bar of damage to Jason per torch. If you're on the paths you can just mash him down if you need to with that.
He looks so painful to play as, oh my gooood. What's your hardest challenge?
Overall the hardest is probably Low% (no items, stone only) with no kid/counselor deaths. I've been trying that one on and off and can usually get to day 3, but things fall apart there. I need to go back and practice the Day 3 path fights again, I'm pretty rusty there right now.
Hey, maybe you can do like a 100% + challenge and collect all notes, light all fireplaces (for each counselor), collect every weapon & item that spawns, fight Jason's mom all 3 days, and find all of the hidden cabins. Might be interesting!
Thank you, just added it to the list! During the Immortal run I collected pretty much every item spawn, but didn't bother with Pamela on day 1 and 3 and ignored the fireplaces, so I have a head start on the items part! I think part of what might make a true 100% difficult is getting everything done before Jason dies, since you'll start hitting him really hard when people are getting their torches. It'll be interesting to see if that can all be done without utilizing the Immortal glitch.
@@ZeroThe14th Awesome! Looking forward to seeing if a true 100% is possible as I've never seen anyone else attempt it! Yeah, getting everything done before you kill Jason will be the most challenging part.
@@StevenQBeatz I was thinking about this more last night, and I really want to try it without the Immortal glitch, at least at first to see how the timing works out. I think the best idea might be to try and keep a few counselors with stones and/or knives right up until they collect their own torches, that way Jason isn't dying too quickly.

I’d like to hear more about this Wilfred Brimley romhack
It's amazing! Some genius replace Jason with Wilford, and we now use the torch to cook the Corn Flakes. There's the Quaker Oats mascot guy all over the place, and all of the characters have been changed to have some connection to Wilford. I didn't know there was a person out there who liked this game, liked Wilford enough to make a romhack, and also had the knowledge and ability to make a romhack, but I'm very glad there was!

So funny! 😂 I played the game a lot as a kid and George sucked.
Yeah, George is pretty bad. The only thing he has that's worthwhile is 2 kills before spawning items, but that's not enough to make up for everything else he does poorly!

I was so disappointed when I finally got through the entire game as a kid, and that was the ending that was waiting for me after all of that work.
@@ZeroThe14th Are there any NES games that have epic endings? Usually it's just a title card congratulating you on completing your quest/defeating the Big Meanie/rescuing the damsel.
@@kingofthebingogame The only one that really jumps out at me was Mega Man 2. I wouldn't really even consider that epic, but as a kid, that was the best ending I had seen in a video game. I can't really pinpoint why it was such a big deal to me though

@@oneinchbiceps It doesn't get the respect it should. The game was ahead of its time, but they explained so little that people got frustrated. Once you know what makes it tick and how things work it's a lot deeper than it seems on the surface.
@@ZeroThe14th I played it when I was pretty young and was really fascinated by it. When I was a teenager and purchased a copy of it from the place I use to rent it from I played it again till I figured out how to beat it. Really is a great game. I'm glad to see people appreciating it today.
