The Poor Pastry Boy Who Invented L’Oréal Paris

  • Eugène Paul Louis Schueller was born in Paris in 1881. The son of two hard-working pastry shop owners, he was growing up to be an exceptionally studious and ambitious young man. He not only earned top grades in all his classes, but he also got up early to help his parents prepare the pastries. Every, single, day. A relatively unspectacular beginning for someone destined to build one of the world’s greatest fortunes…
After finishing his Baccalauréat degree, which is roughly equivalent to two years of college, Eugène entered the Institute of Applied Chemistry in 1900. Once again, he succeeded brilliantly and finished first in his class. Following his graduation in 1904, he took a position as a laboratory assistant at the Sorbonne. It seemed like he was mapping out a career as a university researcher. But while that was highly respectable, it was hardly lucrative.
Then something happened that would change the course of his life forever…

No he was Alsatian and not German nor Jewish. And as a lot of Alsaciens at the time, when Alsace Lorraine was lost to the Germans in 1871, His parents left their hometown and went to Paris so as to not becoming Germans. So definitely not German.

Lilianne era hija de Andre Bettencourt no de Schueller. Bettencourt era una de los mayores accionistas y.porntal motivo pasó a ser el líder y luego Lilianne de L'Oréal. Al menos es mo qntenia entendido

  • @foreverseethe

00:44 "unspectacular beginning"I beg to differ. 1st in class and straight A's is spectacular indeed. The emotional stability, parent involvement/encouragement, and affinity and drive to handle the workload is a privilege. So the clickbait "a poor pastry boy" is obviously false, not least because a university education at the turn of the 20th century is for the absolutely privileged.
Not to take away from his impressive sounding work ethic but it sounds like he was always aristocratic.
One last thing: you may disagree but women should never compete with men, in anything.
    1. It's never a fair fight.
    2. If men lose, everybody loses.

The sloppy French pronunciation is ruining this excellent content. It's disrespectful to speakers of the language. I can only hope this is an AI narrator in need of tweaking.
