My best productivity trick is a large 43” (or close) UHD 4K monitor. If precise color isn’t needed for video/graphics production, any cheap TV will do. This allows me to put the windows, spreadsheets, documents all on one desk space (or more) to focus only on what is needed to be done.
Hey Gary, that was a cool one! There were so many things in the video that I didn't know and really like. For instance, the background sounds are so great. I just tested them and they really calm down my brain, help to focus and to reduce stress. Great channel!
The one feature I can use here per your recommendation is the Clock app for timers. I constantly use my phone as a timer/alarm because I cannot remember how the Mac has the Clock app. Excellent idea to increase productivity!
Gary, great video. The ideas were interesting and intriguing, not just extreme. Even you seem a little more energetic presenting them. I will try some out.. I use the 4Ds method to process my inbox: * Delete (If not needed, get rid of it the first time you see it. Never look at it again.) * Delegate (If someone isles should be doing ti, forward it as soon as possible). * Do Now (if it takes less than 2 minutes, do it as soon as you see it.) * Do Later (Move it to a task list to be prioritized with otters tasks at a later time.)
Thanks Gary as always. I love focus modes and think it’s one of the best recent Apple features. My phone is set to automatically turn on DND when I get to work and it’s helpful not to get distracted with all those notifications rolling in.
Thank you for giving us some ideas to boost productivity! Tracking time, however, is something I wouldn't call extreme - in certain cases, it may be something one does every day (speaking from my past experience as a freelancer). Also people using the "Pomodoro"-method probably wouldn't see themselves as extreme. But either way: thanks for putting these ideas in one easy to find place! 🙂👍
Really great video and suggestions. I'm sitting here in front of 3 monitors and an iPad connected with Sidecar and you hit me with "don't use multiple screens" 😭 😄 But I think you're right, I should work on one monitor more often. I think the additional monitors are only a productivity gain 20% of the time.
Interesting and thought provoking. Is there a way to label my alarms and timers ... I often have two or three things I need to do at any given day. Sometimes (getting more often) when the timer or alarm goes off, I will forget what task and turn it off. I do ham radio and have regular hours and want set the alarm time.. but it may only sound on one device or the other. Sometimes on the watch and not. Can I have all my devices alarm go off and better too have them all turn off when I shut it off or snooze... Thanks much .. pat
If you start a timer and look at the screen in the middle you'll see a place to label the timer. But the timers and alarms will be for the device you are using, so set it on that device. If you want the alarm to go off on your iPhone, then set it on your iPhone.
Thank you Gary for these insights on using our Mac machines more productively. Love your video thumbnail design. Does archiving emails take up storage space in the cloud account?
the time tracking idea was cool and esp that it can be done in notes app ill try that thanks

How is the scaling? Don’t Macs struggle to play nice with 4k screens and scaling? I assume at that size screen it doesn’t look very sharp?
Of all the tips, I find putting my phone physically away the most helpful. I tell myself to not get the phone, until the work is done

Thanks, Gary. Can always count on you for new good content. Always learning something here.

Very thought provoking. Now I have to contemplate. Thank you!

The only genius for apple. Very helpful as always. You weren't lying when you said that these were extreme. These were pretty extreme
This may well be the only video on TH-cam where "extreme" in the title isn't used as click-bait.
Thanks. I was using it as more of a warning, because I know some of these ideas are a bit crazy.
Really enlightening for me. Thank you Gary ❤

Thanks very much, Gary, for this informative video! Must at least clear my desktop 🙂
NOW I know how Gary gets so much done!!!! 👍😎
Great video!! I used to use three monitors but found like you it was very distracting. Now if I need more I just open my laptop.

Does archiving emails take up storage space in the cloud account?
Yes, but a very small amount unless there are large attachments to that message.
Thank you, Gary! 👏❤️
Thank you sir for the wonderful video sir
I spent over 40 years time tracking billable hours. I am NEVER going to time track again. ;-)
EXTREEEEEEEEME!!!!!!!!!@1
Does there exist a way to check for email messages manually that applies to only one account or selected accounts (rather than all accounts)?
Yes. Use the Manu Bar. Mailbox, Get New Mail, then choose the account.
Lol can i say that i am a productivity machine since I use 9/20 of those ideas?
What are hacks?
Dictionary definition that applies: "A strategy or technique for managing one's time or activities more efficiently."
Why don't you just close a tab as soon as it's opened. And then delete an email as soon as it's received?
