Honda Car Alarm Goes Off After Battery Replacement - How to Fix

- The battery died in a 2015 Honda Accord with a wireless key fob and remote engine start. When I installed the new battery, the car alarm immediately turns on. I show how to use the key within the key fob to make the car alarm turn off when you're installing a new battery.
I truly feel car alarms are more trouble than help
My BIL left his Honda CRV at my home when they were away over Christmas. We had really cold weather (-35C) and the vehicle wouldn't start(it was also plugged in as it has a block heater). Today my neighbour came over and put the trickle charger on it, and has soon as he attached the second clamp the horn starting going off. I phoned and spoke to an Advisor at Honda and she explained that it was the car 'waking up' and to sit inside and press the brake. Before I went back outside to do this I decided to search TH-cam and came across your video. Pressing the brake did not work -- BUT sticking the valet key in the door lock and locking and unlocking it did the trick!!! Thank you so much! Honda could take a few lessons from you!
I only thought of the cartoon character little bill
Great video, super easy fix... worked on my MDX after replacing battery... VERY SIMPLE. Thanks for making this so easy.
Dude, you may have just saved my job lol. Thank you! It worked for me.
Dude I was embarrassed by neighbours till I searched on TH-cam and found this video and it worked ✅ thanks man
Embarrassed in front of your neighbors*
Your neighbors did not embarrass you by laughing and pointing, I hope.
Wow you saved me a big headache. My brother went overseas and left his car with me. The battery was flat and I was replacing the battery. I couldn't figure out how to make the horn stop. Lifesaver. I had to lock and unlock the door to get it to stop but would have never thought of doing that. Worked on a Honda 2022 Accord.
My problem is the same thing except the key does not turn in the door lock this the car alarm horn continues. But thankyou for this video.
Mahalo for the video. This is so irritating and there is nothing in the owners manual about this.
I am going to try this today for my 2017 Accord. The alarm is SO loud. Thanks for the tip!
Going to try this on my civic ep3, changed the battery, connect -ve and alarm sounds, can open, start and drive thrcar but with alarm going off. No fob, just an old style metal key. Will try this in the next hour and let you know
Car alarm went off. Thanks so much
Very helpful video that fixed the problem! I just had the same issue with a 2009 Honda Civic after replacing the battery. Thanks Vincent!
LOL..just pull out the Horn fuse and relay. Tighten the negative battery cable, start the car and go plug the horn fuse back inn.
This is the method I used. However, I do not think you need to do anything with the Relay. Just pull the Horn Fuse. Then when you put the battery terminal on you see the lights flashing without any noise. You can then take your time turning the key to stop the alarm. Once the alarm has stopped you can put the Horn fuse back in. The Horn fuse is relatively easy to pull but you will need needle-nose pliers and review the location on another youtube video.
@@tomandjoandinnel4981 how did you get the alarm lights to turn off? same thing with my car. I took out the horn fuse but the alarm lights flash and won’t turn off. (The key fob doesn’t work)
Dang it, I have a 2008 and this isn’t working, turning the key only makes the windows and sunroof open and the alarm keeps blaring, pressing unlock on the driver door nothing, key in ignition doesn’t do anything either - it is electronically killing the ignition - both key fobs, buttons “work” normally while the alarm is blaring but they don’t disarm it. I’m wearing earplugs in my garage at night trying to do anything about this because I need to go to work in the morning and I’m screwed nothing is working. :(
Update. Okay it was the car’s battery being low causing this. I charged it with an external charger and it stopped going off after reconnecting with a full charge.
Much thanks, right to the point, saved me a literal headache. The only other thing I can add is to have some earplugs handy.
LISTEN TO ME: THIS IS THE ONLY VIDEO THAT WORKS! THANK YOU BROTHER AND MUCH LOVE FROM NEW ORLEANS BECAUSE WE TRIED EVERYTHING
Same issue on 2012 Accord EXL... I have been hitting the "Panic" button on the Fob for like 20 minutes lol obviously did not work. Never thought of doing this method, life saver 🤟🇨🇦
Great video!!❤❤❤❤
Thank me later if you ever. I have to open your door and the alarm goes off. Literally, all you have to do is put the key in the door and turn it right. It will cut off.
lol i’m doing this at 5 am and i know the neighbors are pissed
🤣🤣🤣🤣
My dude! Thank you so much for making this video, worked on my 2012 Acura TL!
You helped me a lot. My car wouldn’t shut up after I changed the battery and my neighbor already hated noise.
Thank you. I think I'm going to keep the key in the door then connect the battery. Love your neighbor.
Thank you so much, this worked on my 2014 Toyota Avalon. I love you
This worked for me. 2004 Honda Odyssey THANK YOU
Thanks, Vincent! My daughter called with hers going off after a battery swap today. You had the answer.
Thanks, Vincent. It worked on my LOUD Honda Pilot horn. Worked like a charm. The unlock button did not work but the key in the door did work. Thanks again. I owe you a coffee.
This is awesome. Just had the same issue with CR-V and it worked perfectly. Thank you
Omg Thank You 🙏🏼 it just happened to my car and I didn’t know what to do 😮 Thank You I’m gonna try that 🎉 it stopped already
Thanks for posting this video, it really helped me❤
Thank you from this 63 yr old grandmother.
My problem is that it keeps going off randomly after I stop it like you shown on the video. Any idea or tips? T.T
Same issue here. Right now. Got it fixed by a mechanic 5 months ago but issue came back.
@@Onibyron my issue was bmc (Body module controller) died so I had to get it replaced. $800 bye bye! Sad
I thought they were 300 but then again there are other types of cars. What is your car?
@@Onibyron honda crv 2019 maybe thats why idk but was not fun paying for that
you saved the day.
I pulled my horn fuse and your technique still worked.
Is it the horn fuse or alarm fuse or are they the same?
Little button under dash by flashing red light by brake peddle push to reset
Added tip: Pull the horn fuse first, then only the headlights flash
Take off one of the fuse by the right side the one that look like a small box
Brilliant. It worked for me (Toyota)
thanks for this! my fob isnt working and this worked like a charm
but in Honda ZRV how can be open the car ????
I have this problem in my 2008 Nissan Altima but nothing’s working unfortunately. I have the alarm unplugged now so no more blaring, but the car still flashes when I’m idle
I’m sad this happened to me today I did the key thing and the alarm still goes off and the car doesn’t even work when I try the unlock button
😬😬
Thanks after searching and watching many videos I started with your idea first. Many thanks. Now I wait and see if this really solve my problem. I am hoping.
Thanks once again for your video. Have a Blessed Day.
I check my car to connect the battery because I will use it later then alarm goes on so I unplug it and search fix. My question is after your method no more alarm after starting the car on/off?
Thank you! This happening now. Thanks for the upload
My daughter's just goes off randomly. She uses the fob to unlock it from inside the house. It's a temporary fix. Is the way they are doing it in the video permanent
Thank you. I already had a neighbor yelling at me through the window after my alarm went off for the Third time. Worked perfectly. Much appreciated.
Great video. Thanks! I was freaking out because my horn kept honking. lol
would this work if i locked my key in the car and i didn’t have a fob ? i have a 2009 honda accord and i had to unlock the door with a hanger and it went off, i disconnected the battery but as soon as i turn it on the alarm goes off ? any advice helps
When this happened to me this morning, I just started my CR-V and the alarm stopped. But the battery was dead at the end of the day. Any ideas? Are there two things related?
Thanks so much, alarm started just blowing up in middle of parking lot luckily had a Wrench and unplugged the battery and found your vid thank you
Mine is 2004 Honda Pilot and I am having the same problem. I am going to try and come back here. I hope the same trick works on my Pilot.
bro imma try this tomorrow if lmfao
Haha I hope this works man just got a new battery and as soon as we connected the positive terminal, the alarm kept going off it’s annoying.
It’s really embarrassing 😅! I hope it works for car. I actually take the horn fuse off for now! Haha
Thank you!! This worked for my car.
Thank you so much for uploading this…
M y window was broke causing the alarm to go off, disconnected battery but soon as hook battery up alarm goes off, how do I stop that
God bless you my man!!!! I spent about 3 hours trying to fix it. Thank you 🙏

Great video, worked for my 2008 CR-V after replacing battery
What if your battery is dead and you get the car jump started ? What am i supposed to do i cant drive with the alarm blasting
Thanks for posting, exactly what needed to be done!
Thanks it worked !! I really appreciate it your video.
worked like a charm simple to do stick key in door turn to the right and back to vertical thxs
This worked for me!
but is this a permanent fix or the alarm keeps going off in the future?
Unless you’re replacing the battery every time you start the car, you only have to do this once.
@@VincentStevenson my alarm keeps going off randomly, tried the key trick but did not work. Any ideas what could it be?
This solved my problem! Thanks for the great video!
Oooo thanks brother
Very helpful video. It worked on my car. Thank you.
