the only thing straight about this drama was the dubbing. with how explicit GJ and ZZH's lines were, they were literally filming a romance drama that only got bromanced after their job was done.

As he passes his cultivation to Wen Kexing, before he heads out to the armory. I kind of got the hint, when Yi Bai Yei spoke those words, if Wen Kexing was ready to die for Zhou Zishu, and Wen said he was. I knew that it meant giving a life, was like giving his heart, not dying, but giving away his heart to another. So they did not have to kill and remove a heart, they needed to cultivate, and be in love, in order to continue living as an Immortal. That is how I interpreted it, the white hair, was all his internal force, being used to help Zhou Zishu, I fell hard for this drama, and its poetry! Thank you for your descriptions.
I actually like that “省省吧你 (save it)” line from A’Xu when WKX was trying to distance himself from A’Xu who unexpectedly showed up at the fake falling-off-the-cliff scene. It is less explicit than “you’re my person”, but it sounds more indulgent and protective. If someone completely disregards the biases and hostilities towards me by pretty much the entire world, walks slowly to me and stands that close, asking me to “save it”, I drop dead on the spot...

@@rebholmberg3047 Everyone is similarly puzzled. I don’t think the script provides a convincing explanation. In the drama, WKX simply wanted A’Xu to recuperate properly because he was tortured at the court and in very poor health. WKX thought he could fake his death at the cliff quickly and come back without A’Xu ever knowing the whole charade. However, a servant who was supposed to watch over Cheng Ling unexpectedly came back to the Four Season Manor and let A’Xu know that Cheng Ling became aware of WKX’s Ghost Valley master identity. A’Xu went to see Cheng Ling to explain, but heard about the big fight at the cliff on the road. The script is going for that classic “wrong time wrong place” type of tragedy, but not very successful. This whole trunk of plot is not in the book. The book has a very straightforward revenge+happily ever after ending.

Xie Wang's real lines explains... a lot of scenes holy shit. That makes Zhao Jing far more insidious than before and also makes it make sense why Xie'er sees himself in Liu Qianqiao and Xisang gui.

@@InvisibleRen same. i wondered if they were actually lovers in the novel and had been turned into father and son by the script writer to explain scorpion's love/obsession with zhao jing. knowing it's both was really unexpected

It is not an romantic or sexual relationship, the original line focused more on showing how possessive he was over his father.
Poor Scorpion. Just imagine what he had to go through to get this anxious as soon as any person gets close to his adoptive father.
I was so confused when Adult CL was clearly not saying what he was saying. This way of getting around censorship is impossible in the US (granted there's not really the need) because people would be annoyed that limes are dubbed over. But i think it's so clever of the production team to use the dubbing in their favor. Thank you so much for taking the time to share these tidbits with us! LOVED your video as always! But ah, that last line, I think 不死人 is better translated as "undying" instead of "undead", cuz "undying" implies that they're immortal, while "undead" implies that they're zombies lol

I actually found an uncensored vid on tiktok where you can actually hear gong jun say "ai ni" (it wasn't officially aired tho) so it is true! I forgot to save the video but I am working hard to find the user again!
@@stephaniemobedjina677 Are you sure that wasn't a fandub? There are a couple of fandubs going around where voice actors dubbed the "ai ni" (along with the other lines). I doubt they'd ever release a BTS with Gong Jun saying it

I hope they print the original script into a book and release an english version without censoring/toning down anything. I'll definitely buy that one 😍 But then theres the original novel already so a printed book of the script is never gonna happen 😂
The scorpion king actor did so good because I watched the show with English subtitles but still was able to catch the real relationship between the scorpion king and his “adoptive father”
The drama is already tonned down but we screamed, Imagine when it wasn't tonned down...

Zhou Zishu: 你是我的人。😏🤣 Now I get it why I found that "Stop" line of ZZ a little bit out of place. 🤣 Well yeah, the line fits with the scene, since Wen Kexing wanted to spare him with the trouble of being part of the "stage play" 🙄🤣 but, but somehow, we knew there's more from it. That ZZ might have said something more intimate to convince his hubby. 🤣 Yay!! Thank youuuu! 🤣
Thank you for all these sugars lip readings. I loved that it’s pretty much a confirmation of a HE for our main leads. If anyone still wanted to believe that it was a BE, then they just in denial. All I can say is that WOH is truly a gem. I also don’t think I’ve ever seen a drama like WOH that has all these sugars lip readings and extra goodies so far in other dramas. Not only the drama is great, but fans/viewers also have a wonderful time by becoming lip readers, learning about poetry and so on. Such a wonderful watching experience.
I can’t imagine how crazy we would be if we got the real dubbing since we already this crazy with the way it is 😂 I hope in the future they can release all the extra stuffs that couldn’t be shown in the drama. How awesome that would be.

So many surprises but most of all immense satisfaction and closure that the writers did their best to keep the story for what it was meant to me. I just finished the drama last night and was so upset at the ending until I found the special Episode 37. But your explanations and discoveries through lip reading the original dialogue has shed so much light into story. I don't blame them for dubbing it like that, cuz of censorship its understandable, and in aired content they gave a lot of sweet content too compared to past BL dramas which were more restricted compared to this.
