    Scorponok was one of the first I grabbed when I got back into collecting as well. The guy I bought him off of is now my best Friend and I've met a lot of cool People in this hobby.

    Excellent video on a vintage transformer . You can customize the other one as a battle damaged one.

    Just the sound of you moving all that beautiful plastic around takes me back to the 80's.

    Good to see Scorpy back to his ol' villainous self!

    The construction of the G1 Transformers really does lend itself well to repair work later down the road. They are so much easier to restore than many other lines. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the parts you are still missing. Cheers Dave!👍

    I did this exact same thing some years ago. I had a Scorp who was in decent shape apart from a broken leg on the inside of his right claw. I eventually found a really neat up on at an estate sale that had the piece I needed, so I "Frankensteined" myself a whole Scorponok!

    If you have any more G1 stuff floating around that you need to repair please please do so! It's something different and it's always interesting when you do it.

    The last Transformer I remember dreaming of when looking through the Argos catalogue! Never got him as a child, but picked him up as an adult. I love the fact that his insignia is the middle of his crotch... _"Are you friend or foe?" "Rub my crotch and find out!"_

    Excellent repair / restoration, Dave.
    This is the sort of toy restoration ( swapping parts ) that I enjoy the most, as it's the type of repair that I can actually do myself. :)

      Glad it was of help. Sometimes fixes don't need to be complicated. I try to cover it all.

    This is great, I should check if mine needs any of these repairs. I'm always more drawn to the bigger transformers these just look so epic!

    I never knew this existed lol. It’s a cool toy and a parts upgrade is sometimes the best fix.

    I never seen this toy before - it would be nice to have seen him in his non-transformed mode.

      @@far-out_man This was my main recollection of all my Transformers as a child. It seemed like they always broke easily during transformation.

      There are videos that show the transformation of this toy. That was not the point of my video. Cheers

      @@toypolloi it was good to see how fixable these older toys are. Modern toys would be glued or ultrasonicly welded which will make them harder to repair. It’s great to watch you save them from the bin.

    • @QuartzRoolz
      @QuartzRoolz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you really arent missing much. Skorponok really doesnt do much besides lying down with his legs folded up onto his back. the point of the toy was always to be big, impressive, and heavy. besides that hes real simple.

    I watched a Millennium Falcon restoration on TH-cam recently and the guy doing it was expressing his frustration at people who strip toys to sell on parts. Personally I think its brilliant that we are able to come together as a community and help each other out with the parts that we need to fix our cherished toys. I'm on the lookout for Thundertank and Jabba the Hutt parts and when I get them my toys will be restored to the state they SHOULD be in, rather than the state they are in because of neglect.

    Scorps is possibly my fave G1 Transformer. Dave, do yourself a massive favour and get a hold of the Earthrise Titan Scorponok. I know you’re a bit iffy on modern toys but it’s a great piece.

    Hope to see you try out using the styrene and plastic weld on a Transformer sometime soon.

    Never had scorponok. Had a chance to get it about 20 or so years ago for about £5 but bits were missing. Little did i know that the internet would become the place to go for parts lol. I do have metroplex but his waist is broken because of the ratchet. Must fix him

    Dave, another great video. Keep up the great work! If you decide to revisit Scorponok, may I suggest changing the scorpion legs, if not, at least opening the torso to see what's inside and how it works.

  • @knightwolfpro4494
    @knightwolfpro4494 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    swapping parts is about the extent of my ability to fix old toys.
    I had gotten my hands on a Jetfire from the 80's that I was trying to fix and found someone who listed a bunch of parts from a spare Jetfire he had (specified as a spare) and he had the shoulder joint I needed and would only do trades. when I asked what he wanted for it, he told me my Jetfire's gun. I was like, wait, I'm trying to fix up my jetfire to complete him and you want to trade my gun for the shoulder joint? I don't have s spare.
    That was the only thing he'd take. Now I know that he doesn't have to trade me, I'm not entitled to to joint, but that is some nerve the guy had asking for a part that wasn't a spare on mine in order to get a part that was spare for him, you know what I mean. Not to mention the gun is an expensive part to replace in the first place. I obviously didn't trade and eventually found a junk one at a con and was able to swap parts.
    You're so lucky you get so many donations made that you can work with.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people are like that. I actually gave the Alan who sent me this the last of my Jetfire spares to finished his. And the gun I had went to Australia. Sorry I can't help you with your project.
