    Thank you for this video. It is very helpful. And thank you for doing the work Rode should have done explaining how to properly place the mic in the clip. I ended up breaking my clip on the first day simply because Rode did not think it a good idea to provide any instructions. So again, thank you for doing what Rode should have done.

    Great video. What cable are you using to connect the transmitter to your iphone?

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used the special digital audio cable from Rode. The SC15 USB-C to Lightning cable. This is not a standard charging or data sharing cable. It is specifically designed for audio only. Hope that helps.

    Maybe you answered this in another video but I don’t have time to scroll around and watch so please answer a question for me…
    Is there any way I can use this particular Rode lav directly to an iPhone?

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, with the Rode SC4 adapter. If you are using an iPhone with a lightning adapter you will also need the supplied headset adapter. Hope that helps.

    Ok, very beginner here - when you've attached the lav and plugged the lav into the transmitter, where is the transmitter placed? Not a very long cable from the lav to the transmitter ...

    I have the mic and like it, but unfortunately lost the clip to it and I cannot find the proper replacement for it, even on the Rode site. Very frustrating.

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is very frustrating Allen. I purchased other clips for mics on ebay but you would need to match the clasp size.

      Huh

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colin, my understanding is that you won’t be able to do that cause the iPhone has switched to the digital input. It would not be using the 3.5mm Jack. You can direct monitor the output of the WG2 from the 3.5mm Jack on the receiver. It is not that loud though.

    Does the microphone work being plugged directly into the receiver without having the transmitter?

  • @samsmith3968
    @samsmith3968 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Using an android phone, is the RODE lavalier GO a plug n play mic, or do I need an audio app? For some reason, I don't think mine is working. It sounds like i'm using the phone's mic. Thanks in advance. Cheers

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sam, the Rode lavelier Go will not work if you plug it into the 3.5mm headset socket of any mobile phone. You would need a Rode smartLav+ to do that. The lavelier Go is designed for a standard mic input like on the wireless go2 transmitters. You can buy the AI-Micro and it will interface this mic with an Android device. Hope that helps Sam.

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sam, a cheaper alternative is the Rode SC-4. It will adapt the 3 pin plug to a 4 pin plug that will suit the 3.5mm headset socket on your phone.

    Gary does your foam windshield come off easily? I can pull mine right off. Shouldn't it have some kind of twist lock mechanism like the wireless go 2 does or does the lav mic 2 not come with that?

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is quite firm once it is pushed on. The rubber surround has a little ridge that holds it on. Have you tried pushing it on firmly?

    • @bodhi9180

      @@GaryDmedia it's not loose like it would fall off if you tipped it upside down but I guess I expected more a clicking locking into place. I'm just trying to verify I didn't get a counterfeit product.

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem Bodhi, no clicking on mine either. It is snug, not tight.

  • @patrickpaganini
    @patrickpaganini 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Adjusting the gain should not affect digital output (when you use the USB cable to connect to the phone) - it will only affect the analog 3.5mm output. If you adjust the transmitter's gain while recording in Filmic Pro via the digital lead you can see the levels don't change.

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you are right Patrick. Good call.

    • @patrickpaganini
      @patrickpaganini 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GaryDmedia Annoying eh that there’s no gain for digital, because different mics come in at different levels, so for streaming it might be better to use the audio lead with adapter.

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Patrick. I’m currently testing the new AI-Micro in that very configuration with the Wireless Go II. See how it goes.
