  • This Japanese bike feels more like a classic British twin from a byegone era than any of its current day British rivals. Rishaad Mody tells you why.

I absolutely agree that Indian laws about the saree guard and numberplate make these retro motorcycles look pretty weird. But honestly that front numberplate was designed by someone with vengeance in mind XD

It's history is very interesting also . People forget that the w650 and 800 were originally ONLY produced for the Japanese Retro-market (Domestic ) . The vibration is intentionally 'Tuned-in' via the balance-shaft and they have a very long-stroke 360-crank as-mentioned . Japanese-buyers wanted both those things including Air-cooling , no oil-cooler and no water-cooling . It was only due to Pressure from the overseas-Agents , that Kawasaki agreed to Export them . Any and All of the modern 'Retro-Bikes', are fun machines , with the RE650 being the best value for-money in The World.....and therefore the most 'accessible' . Dave NZ

I am not a RE fan however in a market where we have RE Interceptor 650 there is no chance of any takers for Kawi's W800 however hard they sell it on the "emotion" factor.

When one imports this bike from Thailand/Malaysia/Vietnam with max customs duty you get this price tag. we are 110cc country, max 125 cc. rest of the market is too small to set shop in India. Y curse the brand. Retro styling interests few bikers. especially old timers having used Jawa, Norton, BSA. Number plate placement has received so many comments, none for design engineering and specifications. more bling, Fuel gauge /usb charger is noticed. when one is shelling our 7 lakhs, vfm is not the key here.

Kawasaki, no doubt the best in their own stile, my father have Kawasaki 100 , bullet, Suzuki 100,hero honda, and i have yamha 135 in past, but no doubt kawasaki is the king of technology. Its featured a classy and great things in bike, like engine stop button, parking ignition, and the last its carborater. U can set it without open it with just a knob. What a technology in that time. My father and me drove the bike over 2 lakh km. The bike always drove us home safely in any worst weather or conditions . Thanks "KAWASAKI"

With the H’ness success, expecting Honda to bring their CB 500 range of bikes. Yamaha launched MT-09. So did Indian!! And HD ties up with Hero!! Good times ahead for bikers in our country.
