It can even be more complicated. I had the exact same problem with my 2007 Ford Galaxy 1.8 TDCi. Battery down, but only now and then. But on idle speed I messured 14,4V! Until I switched on the lights. Wow, this bolt startet even to glow in my case! I messured again, and now I messured only 11,6V. Voltage drop over the ground cable was about 2V. Lesson: do not only messure the charging voltage without load!
Thanks a lot for this helpful vid.

That shows that guessing and throwing parts at the car without proper diagnosis can be an expensive habit. I guess a voltage drop test would tell that there is something wrong with the ground, or if no contact just using a multimeter and check ground.

Krillekris It sure would have. Then just track the ground wires back to their origins and Voila :) This car had been to the original shop that fitted the alternator, the main dealer and a so called 'auto electricians' :)

I'am a DYI and just learning about diagnosis, it's a slow process. But I really see the value in being sure about something before using money on parts :-)

well spotted clever methods, iam after fitting two alternator s in a vw tdi mk 5 golf, also bouggt a new battery , still the battery will not charge fully, and will loose charge while driving and car shuts down, my theory is battery was discharged to such a low level it will not hold or accept charging,??any ideas tks

CORRIGEEN71 Have the battery tested. I've had them be bad straight away. Also do some voltage drop tests on the charging system. It maybe a connection problem.

Well done. Your customer very lucky to find such a good mechanic guy! Could you give me an advice please? I changed alternator and battery. While car is cold power is going from alternator, then no power is coming. Code is P1632. Is it might be similar problem, like with bolt? Ford Galaxy 2011 Diesel. Thank you very much in advance

Английский по-английски Thank you for your comment. Your code is for smart charge alternator. You may have a wiring or pcm fault. Unfortunately I cannot tell you the problem. Tests would need to be carried out.

    |Hi I may have something that you have come across before ... I have a 07 s-max and the boot isn't working , not off handle or fob ... no noise or clicking although the indicators flash confirming signal sent from fob .. Now the question I have is how the hell do i get at the mechanism from the inside to release the boot ?? Great content by the way .. and have now subbed !! thanks for looking

Vlogg Frogs not sure, seats down, climb inside and get the panel off. Never done it but that will be the only way. Once panel is off you should be able to work it out

Could be the wiring going from chassis to the boot up near hinge where door opens. Brake in tje wires
