    Of course, the mechanism for adoption would never play out like this! All the same, I distinctly remember the night this first aired! I did so wanted to be that little boy!!

    17:32 This whole relationship between Patty and Kim reminds me of Annie Sullivan’s time with Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker (with Patty Duke, of course). Sure this episode doesn’t have nearly as much physical movements and “violence” as the other did, but both Patty and Annie had to teach young children whom they could hardly communicate with. And that “No!” Patty yelled after Kim brushed her teeth? I could’ve sworn I heard that exact same scream in The Miracle Worker movie.

    According to MeTV, the actual address of the Lane residence was 9 Remsen Street. I brought it up on Zillow, and that is indeed the house. (I mentioned in another comment in Episode #12, that I want to go there sometime soon and retrace the steps she took! In this episode however at 8:55, it shows their address as "5 Remson Street." The number is inaccurate and so is the spelling of the street. Interesting!

    The first time I've ever seen a show from the 60's era mention a young white female's race--@8:56. You gotta "freeze" it to see it, because it moves quickly.

    • @alaricabercrombie2692
      @alaricabercrombie2692 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I saw it. That was pretty interesting to see that on an early 1960s family sitcom. It wouldn't be until the late '60s, after Dr. King's assassination, that sitcoms would be regularly allowed to mentioned, or show words describing skin color & race. 1968's NBC's "Julia" with Diahann Carroll comes to mind.

      @@MrCJ-qz9dl Oh yes, I already knew that. It was a groundbreaking show in that sense. As a matter of fact, I remember a 1964 episode where a black girl had an one time, supporting, SPEAKING role throughout the entire episode. She played one of Patty's high school classmates & friends. Her role was not racially stereotyped. She was smart, zesty, and fun. Thanks for your reply, Clarence. 👌
