I'm playing on draconian mode and it's maddening, but fun. Also, I am in complete agreement with you about the music. Hearing these songs lushly orchestrated is magical for me. As a child, I would put my ear up to my Gameboy color and listen to the title theme. Rest in peace to Koichi Sugiyama and Akira Toriyama - and thank you for the short but sweet review!
Beautiful comment Rachel! Yeah, I’ve been blaring the music and enjoying it as much if not more than the game itself. Luckily, the tunes help me grind the Draconian mode blues away
@lowellbell I played it on the nes after playing dq3 and ff1. It really shines a light on the gameplay loop. All of a sudden the OP random encounters in FF1 made sense. You're not supposed to be able to take them on, they're there to delibrately make you soil your pants. Because of Wizardry, I've never been one to level up on the overworld (past the very beginning), they're there as an extra consideration when your trying to drag your dead party back to town with 5 hp left. 😋
Great video! I like your angle because I’m still not sure if this is for me. I enjoy old school jrpgs but I’ve played this one before and thought it was just ok, so while I do want to try this pretty new version for myself, the price tag is really hard to swallow. I think I’ll wait for a sale down the road.
I think that’s a wise choice. If I wasn’t reviewing it, I would’ve done the same as this will definitely drop in price in 6 months, especially if you’re playing on Steam
Yeah game prices are ridiculous. It’s a solid 30 hours + with some great replayability if you’re a hardcore JRPG guy? For me it’s worth it, for others a great game to pick up on sale in a year
Metaphor refantazio was trash. May as well been a visual novel, and phone game ad you one hit everything in the game, or 3 rounds kill all bosses. I expect more from dq3
@lowellbell I played hard mode. But out leveled everything, mostly do to either need gold, no recovery, or lvl a job 1 to 20. Or towards end lvl newer party members. Thus I be lvl 99 fighting 60 to 80 mons and bosses. They need to make m attack 3x more exp half it is, and mp recovery after any kill open world to lvl out combat. A player shouldn't have to play the game 2 to 4x times to lvl all jobs.
@jannemakela8107 gamers like moniker trash. Games combat is non existent. Just mage kill all. I played a second playthrough with a party of 2. To easy.

@lowellbell - Thank you - and I wish you the best of luck on your Draconian journey!
This game is for people who miss the inherent Wizardry/Ultima (moreso Wizardry) DNA these games used to have.
That’s true - I missed Wizardry by a handful of years but it definitely inspired the early Dragon Quests

The dress armor says it's for women but I chose body type A, is that the "woman"?

@@lowellbell good point. I primarily play on switch these days, but a steam sale would be a great option for this one.
This will be my first Dragon Quest 😊
I hope you enjoy it! It was my first back in like… 2004!
No way ! Have fun
it's not for me, that I can tell
I still have my GBA cartridge!
I’m jealous! I have no idea what happened to mine (or my binder of first edition pokemon cards)
70 dollars for this is a joke

Really? I’m having a much different experience on the harder difficulty, but to each their own!

Steam review says 9/10 for Metaphor so no, that game is not trash.
