    Nice boat mate, true about what you say- best to use a custom boat builder, I have ordered a boat from Surtees here in NZ and you can’t customise a single thing which is far from ideal but because of COVID delays have blown out long so just wanted to secure the earliest build slot I could get.

    • @lurechucker8186
      @lurechucker8186  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I absolutely agree.....use a boat builder to get exactly what you want and the extra cost is generally comparable, the Surtees look like a really strong and capable boat, shame they don't give you the option for too many custom changes. Don't worry COVID delays are the same here in Australia with all boat builders

    I didn’t see a live well for live bait I’m sure it’s there musta missed it.
    When you get that kicker which
    Is what I always trolled from once I used my big engine out the inlet to the seas it worked great all day long on a little gas and separate removable gas tank with quick disconnect you can put a steering arm to it from your main engine which you shut down saving tons of extra money on fuel and steer with your main
    Motor too.

    • @lurechucker8186
      @lurechucker8186  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      G'day Paul.....you are correct, we opted for no live bait tank as we barely used it on our last boat and is not something we could see the need for. We decided to go with a sink that you should be able to see and a bin type extension box at the rear as I hate rubbish all over the place. Awesome boat mate, my wife and I have just started looking at building something similar. Still looking at builders, Genesis is definitely on the list. 2 kids 9 and 11, doing plenty of island trips dirks, abrolhos etc. I'd be interested to know what it cost you all said and done? Also what do you tow it with? Cheers

    • @lurechucker8186
      @lurechucker8186  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Simon.....the cost varies depending on what you want, but can certainly be done on a budget above 100k....... The best way to get an indicative price is to email or message Matt Armenti at Genesis Craft directly, we designed our boat to suit our family.....the walk around feature on the Islander cab is great for our kids....it surprising how much time we or the kids spend up front, sooo good for cruising around the Dampier Islands, Montebello’s and our planned trip to the Kimberley next year. We tow with a 2010 Landcruiser 200 series, only upgrade has been suspension and airbags which we had for our previous caravan and it does it easily fully loaded with fuel/water at 3.1T Once again we built with Genesis Craft based on many reasons....and the whole process from start to ongoing ownership has been amazing and you will never regret it or the memories you make
      Thanks for the message.....if you have anything else message me on Instagram @Lurechucker

    Hey mate, I have the exact same winch and was connected to my anchor the same as you and the swivel failed. Too much side load breaks them. They recommend 3 links of chain and a shackle directly to the anchor then the swivel. I upgraded to that and a mantis swivel. It’s an impressive bit of engineering. Just thought I’d give ya the heads up. Was a $400 anchor that I lost

    • @lurechucker8186
      @lurechucker8186  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the message and feedback. At the end of the day some of the mass produced plate boats are going to do great job, fits people’s budget and has less wait time. My opinions might be biased but there is no comparison in quality and the option to personally design and build a boat that suits your needs….if your spending big dollars you want to ensure you have the after sales service and personal relationship with the builder before, during and post ownership. I could go on for hours with my love of this boat but remember you are not getting what they think you need in a boat……it’s a consultation with an experienced and successful builder who will make your dream come alive. I guess pricing would start around the 120k mark but the more options you add the cost goes up.
      For me I couldn’t go back to a mass produced boat…..just my opinion though
      Hope this helps 👍👍👍

    Drop me a line if you want a users opinion on fuel bladders. I’ve got one as my main tank in a 6m boat and it’s been there for 7 years. I’ve got no commercial interest in them (I don’t sell them). There are a few design tricks. I love it.

      Hey Simon, would love to hear your feedback on yours. I’ve actually just ordered one.....hopefully turns up in the next 2 weeks

    • @SBoag
      @SBoag 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am assuming that the bladder is permanent and isn’t just a portable bladder that comes in and out? If portable disregard all of the following, here’s the take home lessons from mine:
      • I have two breathers are the top each running their own fuel grade hoses to skin fittings in the engine well.
      • All four hoses (fill, take off and 2 breathers) all run through a custom SS “skin fitting” on the stern (lower, i.e. aft) side of the vessel. I’m going to try to attach an image.
      • There are grommets on several sides that I have attached in the void (hold) to ensure it doesn’t slide around.
      • I added a SS inspection hatch which I opened weekly for the first few months and then haven’t looked at for years. It is like ice when wet and is a real hazard.
      • I pulled out a 130L tank and got a 210L bladder in. This is a big tank for a 6m boat and means I have a range of 300-250km (which should be enough!).
      • Bladder cost less than half the cost of a SS tank.
      • Planes, helicopters, and race cars have fuel bladders. I haven’t blown up. Yet.
