    Back in this era, rap was dominated by artists from NY. A lot of artists from other areas didn’t get the respect or airplay in NY…so a lot of non-NY rap acts (and their fans) started resenting NY as a result. This video acknowledges that friction…and at the same time, actually got Hammer some respect from the rap world including some people in NY.

    Hammer's rhymes were wack, but his lyrical delivery and conviction, the dancing and music overshadowed the weakness.
