    The biggest problem with this repair is finding the hidden screw. There are three screws that hold the cage, damper and actuator cluster in place. If you orient an imaginary clock face over your view of the end of the thing, assume the screw to your left is at 9:00 and the screw to the bottom is at 6:00 then the hidden screw is a 1:00 (in other words top right). If you put a 7mm socket on a 8" extention you should be able to find it. Tape the socket and extentions together so you don't loose them.

    I have had this issue for years. Just got use to hearing the noise. It was new problem when I started looking back then, so there was nothing online, so THANK YOU for this! Cannot wait to fix it.

    Thanks for the video! Here’s a tip (I just did the job) … a 7mm (maybe 8, I can’t remember) fits those screws and it is way easier to get a socket on that one in the back than a screwdriver. I had an 8” extension and it was just enough. When you put it back together, thread the screw into place… then you don’t have to find the hole:)

    Thanks this video helped out a lot. Didn't have clicking but my car would never stop blowing outside air. Somehow the arm of the actuator disconnected from the rest of unit. Been bothering me for years. Such a simple fix.

    Thanks! Wow this noise has been driving me nuts, but I was afraid to take it to the dealer, I'm sure with labour that would have cost a small fortune. Just ordered the part from Amazon and I'll use your video to guide me. Great work!!

      Planning to replace it by myself. As per your experience, how difficult is it to replace that actuator from 1 to 10?

    Make sure you test the part before putting everything back together. My Doorman actuator was faulty and would not rotate the lever regardless of the air setting. Good luck that back screw was a pain in the ...

    Hello there, just want to put it out there, for those who live in australia with right hand side drive, there is no possible way to remove the last screw the one in the upper back, as there is no space to put any screwdriver to open it, i ended up using force and broke the housing that attached with the last screw,
    But finally the housing got loose and can replaced with the new one, and put the other 2 screw back and it worked perfectly

    when you show your tools, did u use the long grey socket for the PITA screw? trying to unscrew w/ screwdrive and can't reach. I definitely need some sorta extender tool

    Could you tell me how you got to the top screw. I think that is the only thing keeping out from coming out. I can’t even see it. I’m going to endoscope to try to see it tomorrow. I dread the thought of being defeated and taking it to a shop or what looks to be horrifying taking the dash apart. I can see why you couldn’t film it. Anything to help would be hugely appreciated.

    For those that are having trouble finding that top screw if you stick your hand in the top right of the unit feel for a channel in it there are words printed you will feel it and know what im talking about the screw is straight back in that channel I was only able to figure this out cause my phone camera barely caught video of it I was able to do a 7mm on extensions and reach it goodluck!

    Just curious would this mess up the air bags due to opening the glove compartment?

    • @91turbosi
      @91turbosi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope. Just don't mess with any connectors that are yellow. That's airbag stuff. You can always disconnect the negative battery terminal when doing electrical to be safe

    Hi, to remove the actuator you just loosen the two screws?

  • @Mazza666
    @Mazza666 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't get how you removed @0:50, do you pull straight down?

    • @adrianfratila1682
      @adrianfratila1682 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just done this today. You can wiggle that out just enough to have access to the motor. I fixed mine with a M4 bolt to, hope it will last. Its looking like postimg.cc/z3QkrfrP
      I had no big problems with the third bolt but for the reinstall I've used some double sided tape to make it stick to my 7mm key. After threading it in the threading itself detached the bolt form the double sided tape(it needed a few blind pokes to get in the hole).
      When you have that housing taken out you can check for the position of the third screw to get your markings where you should insert your extension to poke for that hole.
      This is a video of the motor test before reinstall th-cam.com/video/iBd6AeqVWTs/w-d-xo.html

    • @adrianfratila1682
      @adrianfratila1682 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mazza666 I don't think it's different. You don't even need to completely take out the blower motor carcass, you need to pull it a bit towards the glovebox and rotate it towards you to have access to the 4 screws that hold the air door motor.

    Where is the driver side air mix actuator?

  • @Mazza666
    @Mazza666 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had this same issue, I ripped out my whole dash, disconnected battery air bags etc etc. I put the battery back on just to test the part. It started working fine 🤦 spent 6 hrs for nothing, I'm guessing when I disconnected the battery it reset all thee electronics. As that actuator only has 2 wires going to it, positive + negative, once you press the button I'm guessing the computer/climate module switches polarity to move the motor the other way.
    Best to disconnect you battery for half an hour or so and reconnect, see if that works. Maybe just my luck
