  • Seems that common problem for Mazda cars is the valve actuator for closing air circulation. Check how to fix the clapping sound in your Mazda dashboard.

Toxay I fixed mine that had the exact same issue. It would have been a lot longer and harder to do without your video, so thank you very much, you made me save 80 euros.

This was a fantastic video. I was able to fix the problem which according to Mazda service would have cost around 350€ to fix.

Unfortunately this solution works for a year or two then you have to repair it again. The third time I attempted to fix it I broke the plastic rod. So i removed it, then drilled the chassis and put a M4 screw with a M4 nut instead of the plastic rod. It worked flawlessly forever.

I had the same issue on my Mazda 6, fixed it with a screw. Solution for a lifetime. Thanks!

I had the same issue as Luca on a 2008 Mazda 6. The plastic rod broke when I tried to bend it back into shape. I used a 4mm bolt and nut to replace the rod and it worked perfectly. Small bit of work drilling and measuring but it works perfect. I added plenty of grease to the bolt before tightening up the 2 halves of the unit. Hopefully it lasts a long time. Thanks Pavel and Luca. Saved me so much time and money

I have now solved the problem according to the video, but thank you for your idea too, maybe I need to use your solution in the next time, when the problem reappears.

Thanks for this idea. While it took a while, eventually I successfully fixed the issue like you described. To add one more note: there is a hole on one side of the case where the original plastic rod sits and rotates in. I drilled both this hole and the other side and put an M4 screw and nut through those two holes. While at it, clean the gears and check if any teeth are bent/broken. Try to fix these with a small screwdriver so the black and white gears can meet nicely.

Its a pity that you did not give the part number so I could just order another one. But if you say it is just heating and straightening than I can give a same try to fix claping sound.
