    Josh thanks so much for making this video. I was able to pinpoint my non-start by removing the high pressure EGR tube on my 2013 Passat. Next I’m going to remove the DPF for cleaning and replace the turbo if needed. The exhaust was not flowing at all causing the no start. Really appreciate you

      Awesome, quick an easy to diagnose. Yeah I’d take a close look at your turbo if there’s any in-out play. The CKRA’s supposedly have somewhat weak turbos

      it was the turbo, broken shaft allowing impeller to rest against housing stopping all exhaust flow. Brand new OEM from VW dealership $700, going OEM. Cleaning DPF and EGR using methods @StevenBTuner. Dishwasher soap then 25% acid solution.

    You my friend are a genius!! I’ve been trying to start the car I bought from a lady for two days thinking it was everything once I took pipe off boom started bad turbo it is but i heard that motor run 🎉

      It’s something you don’t really think of until you run into it. Both these cjaa’s wouldn’t run because of it.

    Im swapping a 2010 engine into a 2013 tdi. Have fuel coming from tank auxiliary pump doesn't sound like its running but have fuel to the hi pressure pump. HPFP is not sending fuel to the rail. Don't know what the issue was with this engine but timing belt in entack.

    • @JoshsJettas
      @JoshsJettas  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can command the aux on with vcds to see if it’s working. What’s the rail pressure while trying to crank?

      Don't have fuel pressure gauge. I pulled one of injectors out, reconnected it to wiring and fuel line. While cranking the injector does not fire. Also checked glow plugs they do not glow

    Josh, ever had a fuel issue? Swapped a CJAA into a CBEA car and it cranks but won’t fire. Have swapped almost everything between the two motors but just can’t get a pressure reading on the fuel rail in 020. Checked the injectors, non are leaking. No codes except minimum fuel pressure not reached.

    • @JoshsJettas
      @JoshsJettas  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is the fuel system all from a running cjaa or unknown? Assuming low pressure system was original from the running car I’d be looking at the hpfp, rail relief, or injectors bypassing. I haven’t had a fuel issue in person yet.

    Hi Josh, I have a problem with a Škoda Superb 2003 TDI 1.9 74kW. So lately I've had a problem with ignition, but only sometimes. Maybe once a month it happens that the car takes a long time to crank when starting. And then I'm good for another 2-3 weeks without any problems.But there is no error found in the diagnostic . It's a strange problem, so it really annoys me. Do you have any idea what it could be? Thanks in advance love your content

    Hello, I have a 2011 Jetta sports wagon TDI with about 130k miles that cranks but won’t start. I was driving it home and then it suddenly stopped running and have not been able to get it to start. I checked the fuel to ensure there is no contamination, checked fuel filter, replaced all three fuel pumps….yes even the high pressure one, just in case. I have also replaced the timing belt and all associated components. All the timing is right. Any suggestions. The DPF light was on prior to it dying. Could it be the catalytic or DPF?

    • @JoshsJettas
      @JoshsJettas  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes dpf or turbo could do that

    Hello, I have a 2014 VW Jetta TDI 2.0 with 144k miles, I got home and the next day it didn't start, it has a new fuel pump. The high pressure valve and the fuel filter are also new. I followed your steps and nothing. Can you help me find a solution?

    • @JoshsJettas
      @JoshsJettas  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If no codes, removing the intake and exhaust and fuel pressure is up 300 bar+ and it still won’t start I’d take a very close look at the timing belt and timing.

    What did the cold side compressor wheel look like on the turbo? The ones I’ve seen with this same concern usually have made contact with the housing and are destroyed. The turbo inlet pipe is considerably easier/faster to remove then the DPF to inspect. Regardless, nice work.

    • @JoshsJettas
      @JoshsJettas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest i didnt think of pulling the cold side, the Part 1 video i did the car was deleted so it was easy to pull the downpipe. The cold side is loose and floppy so pretty obvious its an issue.

    My problem is I get a long crank sometimes, and other times it starts to run for maybe a second then dies. I have had it take up to 4 tries before it stays running. 2012 CJAA Sportwagen

    • @JoshsJettas
      @JoshsJettas  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd check pump and cam timing, it might not throw a code and might run fine once going but they can be picky while cranking

    What if you discontinued the high pressure egr and white smoke comes out

    • @JoshsJettas
      @JoshsJettas  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      White smoke could just be from poor combustion, the egr port is way to small for it to run well. This is just a quick way to see if turbo/dpf is an issue

    Have you seen auxiliary fuel pump failure? I have a CJAA that starts and runs for about 4-5 seconds but only if I manually prime the system with VCDS a couple of times. No codes 🫠

    • @JoshsJettas
      @JoshsJettas  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d be curious what rail pressure is while cranking without manually priming? Possibly high pressure pump is leaking down requiring to be reprimed before it’ll start. I’d think if you had an auxiliary pump failure it wouldn’t run even if priming?

    Круто. на тех же passat nms tdi часто вал турбины ломается и перекрывает выход газов, что приводит к остановки автомобиля. У нас в Украине мы уже тоже сталкиваемся с этой проблемой.

      Я видел это на старых двигателях, но, кажется, становится все более распространенным явлением. Я бы разобрал этот, чтобы посмотреть, горячие ли подшипники.
