My father's cousin was a crew member of the Princess of the Stars. His wife was pregnant and about to give birth, so she asked him to come home. He did, and that’s why he was saved from the tragedy. Their daughter truly became his savior-an angel.
Although this has reminded me the saddest incident we had in our family(one of our family was in that ship that day), Im glad someone made a video documentary about this in this modern time. Please spread this video more to revive the issue. We haven't gotten our justice in those years since 2008 till today. Law keeps delaying their case. Justice never came to us, family of the victims. Some accepted to be paid with settlement money because they gave up fighting the injustice. But my family, and others that still stood up for justice hasn't. This was never a balance of judgement and nature, it was all irresponsible act and prideful ego neglecting weather advisory that led such a tragic incident. They killed people, and never paid the price.
Both of our parents died here!!! They will never know what me and my siblings went through here!! Though justice was serve di naman kami nakasali 😭 The wound that this tragedy leaves us is still fresh. Our Dad was still missing up until now.
I feel your pain😢😢😢.. I was elementary when I heard this and I can't really forget..lives of innocent were lost.. because of garbage government system..including sulpicio lines..
This happened on my birthday, almost 17yrs ago. My grandma died along with other passengers here. This is making me cry and felt like an old wound was cut opened 😢 we really didn’t heal, we just learnt how to live by the pain. That’s why I never celebrated my birthday again~ I mean not like how I usually celebrate my day. Hugs to all the families who have lost a loved one on the same ship. 😢
Sulpicio suing PAG-ASA is one of the most stupid reasons ever, I mean they obviously cant fully predict the trajectory of the typhoon, they're just acting stupid like😭
They were stupid since the beginning. They have been invovled in many disasters before. It's no surprise they'll be this stupid as a response to the tragedy 😭
They are using 3D animations, maybe through blender with exceptional scripting and on the spot editing. Not to mention the kind of thorough research just to make sure that what they tell are evidence-based. Really a one of a kind channel.
I had a family on board who passed away in this tragedy. I was really young back then, so I don't remember much, except that their bodies were never recovered, and everyone blamed the captain. I can't believe I'm just now watching it on a TH-cam video, but thank you for bringing clarity to what happened. Also, welcome back ❤
So many lives have been lost due to the poor judgement of both the captain and PCG. They already know about the typhoon and still continued to sail, confident that the ship's size could withstand the nature's rage. I was still 12 y/o when this happened and I can still remember the news broadcasted from all sorts of media regarding the sinking of MV POTS. Thank you, TrageDiaries for featuring this. And may the soul of those departed rest in peace.
"It serves as a tragic reminder of the fragile balance between human judgement and the unforgiving power of nature." This statement is poignant and thought-provoking.
I remember passenger kami ng Princess of the Stars just days before this happened. Masama na talaga panahon non and talagang tumatagilid na yung barko and para kang nasa seesaw. Yung mga gamit namin nagsisi-urungan na, pinapasok na ng tubig yung loob ng barko and nag-aagawan na rin yung mga tao sa life vest during that time. And thank God talaga na nakababa na kami ng barko when this happened. 😭
"The unforgiving power of nature." Man, this gave me chills. I remember back in 2016, my churchmates and I went to Sibuyan Island because it is the hometown of one of my churchmates. We rented a small boat, probably big enough to fit 2-3 people comfortably, and sailed to Cresta de Gallo-a beautiful island nearby. I vividly remember being at the front of the boat, enjoying the tides, when suddenly, a big wave swallowed the left stabilizing fin of the boat, capsizing it. Thankfully, my churchmates and I were on two separate small boats traveling together, so the other boat witnessed what happened. No one was hurt in the accident, and it wasn’t even reported to the authorities. I remember clinging to the bamboo fin because I didn’t know how to swim, or at least not for long periods of time. I then hurriedly climbed into the other boat when it reached us, while the adults who had been with me on the capsized boat floated in the ocean for a good 10 minutes, maybe more. Eventually, a larger fishing boat, big enough to load the capsized boat in it, rescued us and helped us return to shore. Later that day, I learned that it was the same sea that swallowed the MV Princess of the Stars. That sea is somewhat like Romblon’s version of the Bermuda Triangle. Maybe you could make a documentary about that area.
you won't believe it but that part of the sea in Sibuyan is enchanted. its hard to explain but mostly ships avoid passing that area. only the Princess of Stars was unlucky enough to pass that part of the sea.
Sulpicio Lines was also the owner of the MV Doña Paz which is the dealiest maritime accident to ever happen during peace times, more than 4300 people lost their lives on that tragic collision with an oil tanker. They ignored safety and overcrowded the ship by more than 2000 passengers. Sulpicio Lines (now called Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corporation) has a lot of maritime accidents in its track record, mostly due to negligence and disregarding safety. The Philippine government cant shut them down as they are also deep in their pockets

I wish there be a movie about this for it's dramatic, scary and thrilling. We can learn some lessons about it too and very good reminder and tribute to those who died at the horrific tragedy. I like the animation so much.
I was in Cebu back in 2008 when this happened. I remember the smell of the funerary homes in downtown Cebu City. The victims were taken there. The smell is something u cannot forget.
Mao lage gud ni. We were kindergarten at that time when my bff's papa was one of the seamans who boarded on the ship. Up until now, they are still hoping that he may still be alive. Tear eyed kay every time mag storya mi bahin ani maghilak gud mi. ☹️ May all the souls of the MV Princess of the Star rest in peace. 🤍
I've been horrified of the sea ever since I saw GMA made headlines about this back in 2008, you can only imagine the dread, fear, and hopelessness of those trapped inside the sinking vessel, may their souls find peace. Brilliant documentary as always btw
Welcome back after 3 years, Tragediaries~ And you're also covering a ship accident, something that has been my topic of interest since Titanic. This is a real surprise for me. That being said, the tragedy of the MV Princess of the Stars is very memorable to me since one of the victims was the father of a classmate, one we never expected since he doesn't show it in his face. Years later, I have also met a diver who did a recovery operation on the site. And just a few days ago, me and my friends are talking about this incident. Ship accidents are really scary since you're literally helpless in the open waters. It's heartbreaking that this could have been avoided and the island was just within sight, but still, due to carelessness and poor decisions, this tragedy happened.
I can still remember papunta kaming Manila and ito sinakyan namin. This is the reason kung bakit never na ako sumakay ng barko since lumubog yung MV princess of the star. Nakakatrauma kasi what if nandun kami 🥲
Year 2005, I was just eight years old when we traveled to Cebu for my father’s funeral. Both of my parents were Cebuano, but at the time, we lived in Cubao, Quezon City. His untimely passing brought us back to my parents’ home province. I clearly remember that we boarded the MV Princess of the Stars for the journey. As a child trying to understand the weight of what was happening, I couldn’t shake the eerie feeling that surrounded me on that ship. It was something I couldn’t explain to my mother, who was deeply grieving at the time. Years later, when I learned about the tragic fate of the MV Princess of the Stars and the unfortunate events involving Sulpicio Lines, a chill ran down my spine. The memory brought back all those unsettling feelings, and even now, I occasionally have nightmares about it.
omgggg welcome back! we hope you'll upload more videos often. And btw can u do the MAGUINDANAO MASSACRE? it happened when i was little, so i didn't understand what happened, and there are no documentaries about that. So i hope u can make a vid abt that. THANK YOU !🫶
We were the passenger of princess of the star from cebu to manila. My aunt me my brother and my uncle. Capitan ng barko uncle ko abroad so while we were sailing to Manila he noticed na medyo tabingi na ung princess of the stars nung nakarating kame ng manila nagulat ako nakita ko sa news days later na lumubog siya then dun sinabe saken ng aunt ko na pa manila palang tabingi na daw kame sabe ng uncle ko . I still have the pictures of me and my brother my aunt took onboard sa princess of the stars.
Wow, what a way to start the year! I appreciate the hardwork and dedication that goes into every video you put out! I hope you make more video this year. Thank you!
Thank you for dropping on New Year, looking forward for more videos this year! On the other hand, PAGASA is not spelled as PAG ASA (meteo graduate here). That's all, rock on! Edit: its always ironic how PAGASA is always blamed for their service, yet no one thanks them how they do their service with limited budget and facilities.
Yeah PAGASA is the reason these tragedies don't happen that often give how frequent and unpredictable the weather is in the Philippines. Last year we had a week-long storm.
crazy enough that me, sister, mom, tita and uncle boarded this very same ship 1 week before the tragedy. i was still on grade 4 when this tragedy happened.
Welcome back! I was 9 at the time when it happened and I remember that this cause mass panic, no one eat fish because they said that the fish ate the dead body. Some said they find a finger inside the gut of the fish and whatnot. I think some of their dead body who is found was buried here in Cebu Cemetery. I remember asking why the graves dont have a name, and they were a lot, they said they were the victims of a shipwreck and were not identified. May their soul find rest in peace.
I remember the news of this getting reported on the radio while I was in a car ride with my mother, her friend who was driving and her son who I befriended. Their retired airforce father/grandpa was on that ship and when that news report hit you couldn't help but feel just terrible hearing that. I was 8 years old, my friend was too. I just sat there in silence while he was looking out the backseat window crying his eyes out while his mom just as teary eyed and heartbroken as he is tries to console him. My mother and I were just in shock, it was a very solemn car ride going to somewhere I can't recall now. My grandpa was retired airforce too and knew him as well, one of the few times I saw his face just full with sadness. As far as I can recall, they never received any form of compensation or justice from that tragedy, his body never recovered so no military funeral took place. Just a deep wound that'll never close.
The MV Princess of the Stars was carrying a number of highly toxic pesticides including Antracol, Tamaron, Nicolsamide, Carbamate, Endosulfan, Carbofuran, and Methamidophos. The ferry also contained other dangerous cargo, including paint, solvents, electrical equipment, and 100,000 liters of fuel.

I wish there be a movie about this for it's dramatic, scary and thrilling. We can learn some lessons about it too and very good reminder and tribute to those who died at the horrific tragedy. I like the animation so much.
A fresh high quality documentary, a good way to start my 2025 journey
welcome back
THE WORLD IS HEALING😭THE BEST ANIMATED DOCUMENTARIES ARE COMIN' BACK Y'ALL AFTER 3 YEARS OF DROUGHT, Thanks so muchhhh for uploading this!!!!
My classmate in college was on of those who didn’t survive😢 Miss you Apple! This is a great video so much clarity as to what happened

I was in Cebu back in 2008 when this happened. I remember the smell of the funerary homes in downtown Cebu City. The victims were taken there. The smell is something u cannot forget.
Creepy 😨
Creepy 😨
Same. I was in 6th grade that time and the captain's daughter was my classmate. It was unforgettable.
Welcome back after 3 years, Tragediaries~
And you're also covering a ship accident, something that has been my topic of interest since Titanic.
Hi I've boarded the ship too, like 2004. I had an eerie feeling too, in addition how the ship tilts too much.
As always, amazing video from the best documentary channel in TH-cam. Thank you for this!
omgggg welcome back! we hope you'll upload more videos often. And btw can u do the MAGUINDANAO MASSACRE? it happened when i was little, so i didn't understand what happened, and there are no documentaries about that. So i hope u can make a vid abt that. THANK YOU !🫶

Capitan ng barko uncle ko abroad so while we were sailing to Manila he noticed na medyo tabingi na ung princess of the stars nung nakarating kame ng manila nagulat ako nakita ko sa news days later na lumubog siya then dun sinabe saken ng aunt ko na pa manila palang tabingi na daw kame sabe ng uncle ko .
Last year we had a week-long storm.
crazy enough that me, sister, mom, tita and uncle boarded this very same ship 1 week before the tragedy. i was still on grade 4 when this tragedy happened.
may i know what year ito nangyari sir? Ty.
@altateee_ around june 2008 po, im not sure....

Another superb documentary 🙌
Welcome back!
I was 9 at the time when it happened and I remember that this cause mass panic, no one eat fish because they said that the fish ate the dead body. Some said they find a finger inside the gut of the fish and whatnot. I think some of their dead body who is found was buried here in Cebu Cemetery. I remember asking why the graves dont have a name, and they were a lot, they said they were the victims of a shipwreck and were not identified. May their soul find rest in peace.
I missed your content, waited for 3 years and finally, a new one! Love your channel so much! Hoping for more!
i remembered this on news. probably my first time understanding what’s happening on the news tv (was 6 years old)

Bro just casually dropped it like he didn't knew people were waiting for years, but didn't dissapoint.
WOW. I'm SO GLAD y'all came back- I actually thought this isn't possible TwT this is the first and best documentary channel I found.
OH HELL YEAHHHH, WE MISSED YOU TRAGEDIARIES!!!
Nakaligtas sa Bagyo pero Di sa Barko

Ang papa ng cousin ko from Bohol is crew ng boat nato. Grade 6 yata ako nung nagyari to and ang nasa isip ko that time is pag crew ka, dapat marunong kang lumangoy at to survive. This video showed me a glimpse of what exactly happened in that boat. So tragic, RIP.
