I have never understood the internet losing its mind over SBMM. Just meaningless jargon to me. Some maps you win some, others you lose some. Same way it's been always. What changed is that now every modern shooter never lets you keep the same group of people and just load the next map when the game ends. Nope, it throws you back to the main menu to re-matchmake all over again which takes FOREVER, and never any server browser or even a number telling you how many people are matchmaking in this playlist. XDefiant is just as guilty of this as any of the post-2018 CoD's.
No, don't do that. All the other Factions at least fit because they're from the same or close enough time period. Leave the historical guys outta this. They could however add in bodark from ghost recon, or another faction from another ubisoft title
In regards to the Tom cpancy moniker, I think siege is at a point where it should drop both the rainbow Six and Tom clancy titles. I mean look at the game now, it looks like a mobile game nowadays, how tf did that happen?
@@DWTerminator I think the only devs that did it right was Tripwire in the original killing floor with the M4. Also, can we stop using that airsoft tier red dot that every FPS game have for some reason.
I've played plenty of MW2. The map design was fine. There just happened to be a couple really crappy maps in it. And sure it's unbalanced. Dual 1887s, One Man Army grenade launcher spam, nearly being able to snipe with the UMP, Intervention quickscoping, the zero recoil ACR... there was a lot of cheese in that game. Despite that, it was still fun, and even the "non-meta" stuff was still very viable. Hell if I remember correctly, my first red tiger camo was for the F2000, which is often considered the worst gun in the game.
Not a fan of how the character models just clash with each other like you talked about. Wish they just went with Phantoms vs Splinter Cell or something and let us make our over custom character for each faction. Not really a fan of the super diverse character models they put in for DEI points. Also the guns looking like trash is so stupid. I wish they would at least have a mode without the super powers b/c I like basic shooters like this and I find the game modes pretty OK for the most part. We'll have to see if ubislop sticks with it.
While I think no SBMM at all is dumb, (even if I would prefer unranked/ranked playlists), my issue with SBMM with the newest COD I've played, CW, is that the post-launch guns, namely the TEC-9 and LC-10 are oppressively overpowered. I basically have to quit a bunch of matches in a row after a victory spree because it's going to be nothing but people using the closest thing to hacks you can get without hacking the game. (Namely high damage, high accuracy submachine guns with literally no downsides that outshoot almost every gun in the game that isn't an instant kill.)
I played XDefiant, then went right back to og MW3 on Plutonium, and the difference was night and day. Better graphics, way better map design, better gunplay, actually have server browser and stick to same server after game ends (imagine that), more game modes. I get it though. Not everybody has or wants to spend a lot of money on CoD. Activision have ridiculous prices. As a free 2 play, "B-movie" alternative, it takes the best visual ideas that COD already did and makes maps of them, but you do get what you pay for. It's a watered down, immensely derivative experience and if you've ever played any other CoD before, or any other AAA modern military shooter (i.e. the primary audience demographic) you're better off sticking with that.
I really like the game despite the usual Ubisoft trappings. I sure wish it had skill based matchmaking though. Everyone always whines about it, but the loudest whiners are those who hate being matched against people of similar skill level. As in they actually have to put in some work to do well. Minor issue really but sometimes it creates some truly boring matches where it's so one sided that you can't wait for it to be over. Another eternal issue I have with these kindsa games. Snipers. Someone make a cod clone but market it with "no snipers" and you'll have exactly one customer because people really do enjoy snipers due to some bizarre reason. While we're at it, some madman make a study on why stinky nerds like snipers. Get on it science team!
CoD's SBMM was never strong prior to 2019. You're being pretty disingenuous by saying it was a slow ramp-up and that "high levels running laps around low levels" was ever an issue in CoD, because it wasn't. Old CoD was genuinely great and the old form of very light SBMM was way superior of what we have nowadays. Before it would simply take a bunch of players and split them up into teams, that's it. Unless you were in the protected bracket of super low KD, you'd play standard MM. That's how it should be. Modern CoD is just utter ass and you're trying to gaslight people.
So...they have overwatch escort, overwatch point control, and destiny/destiny 2 supremacy. Wow...plus shitty cosmetics, a battle pass(plus a monetized version), and a progression system that sounds slower than a snail... Glad I didn't pick this game up.
Can't blame you, but unfortunately most of the major anticheats are kernel level. Even the "old-school" anti-cheat Punkbuster is technically kernel level. BattlEye's at least one of the less egregious ones since it only runs when the games using it are running.
Unfortunately you just gotta deal with that if you plan on playing online games in this day and age. Much like how privacy has died with the long fingers of corporations slithering up our butts, non intrusive anti cheats died due to cheaters being so relentless. Cheaters are responsible for this dark timeline and it's never gonna get better, it only gets worse. Always has, always will.
@@TheJohn_Highway as a [game] programmer, i feel like the absence of creative solutions to this problem is convenient for publishers in the age of AI, i just can't imagine corporations like EA and Activision are unable to create less invasive methods of fighting cheaters i feel like they enjoy the [financial] benefits of not having to worry about maintaining a tug-of-war with cheaters, so they just go with the nuclear option and repossess ur computer
I agree a lot with the video but with xdefiant being free to play and cod costing money, I've been playing it but with cod going to gamepass, we'll see if I stick with it.. but so far its pretty fun. great video as always. Look forward to the next !
CoD being on Game Pass will definitely be interesting. Microsoft's been betting pretty much everything on the subscriptions and we've already seen how much damage that's caused... so who knows what'll happen with BO6.
People dont care much about cohesion these days, i got shot by snoop dog in cod then goku in fortnite. Compaired to that the cohesion is pretty solid, for now at least ..
The fanbase didnt like BO3? We got 2 big championship events here in brazil for it and its often named as "the only futuristic one people liked", i thought it was quite enjoyed worldwide
BO 3 is definitely well-loved. Personally I thought AW had the most innovative advanced movement system, but BO 3 is still great fun and very streamlined. IW is the only one where the mp stagnated and didn't improve any. I really love BO 3's campaign. Great sci-fi and dream-like quality to it. Super underrated campaign.
I'm happy I'm not the only one who didn't like how they made some of the guns look all nasty and beat-up. Some are getting close to a Borderlands style with all the damage...lol...slight exaggeration but still. A guns appearance has always been key for me. Once and a while I'll use an attachment I have no use for just so the gun doesn't look so ugly (referring to CoD games) but in XD were kinda just stuck with it. Like how you mentioned the AK....its a good gun in XD but I don't like using it cause it's ugliness is just staring me in the face at all times.
I think what the game might have going for it is the lack of alternatives. There aren't that many CoD clones out there and if I have to decide between spending 70€ and sacrifing 150gb of my harddrive or only sacrificing 30GB, the decision is rather easy. And I agree with most of your points, espially when it comes to the game feeling like Smash Bros, but without the coherent vision, and the weird weapon aesthetics, I disagree with others. Like the lack of named characters., With how the game presents itself, I don't feel like serious characters like Sam Fisher, Nomad, Aiden Pierce or even the Far Cry 3,4 and 5 main characters would fit in at all. The Watch Dogs 2 crew would, no questions asked, but everyone else would feel out of place, even more so than the already existing characters. And yes, I rambled about this before that the Cleaners absolutely don't fit the game lorewise, because they would never fight together with anybody else. But all in all, I'm glad the game exists, because, as I said, what other CoD alternative is there?
I agree about pretty much everything you said, the only thing i disagree with is that the factions are balanced, Echelon isn't and the wallhack ability (not the ult) is way too strong for having such a little cooldown, but it's a very small thing that is pretty irrelevant with all the other issues this game has, which you pointed out, no identity, terrible netcode (You can even get hitreg issues in the shooting range since it puts you in a private server) and the overall gameplay being...painfully average. I have no idea what some people are smoking when they praise this game so much when it is really nothing special, also more than half the gamemodes don't fit the gameplay of the game, ESPECIALLY payload imo.
As I said in the video, the sonar goggles ability could use a bit of tweaking but isn't wildly overpowered like so many make it out to be. People are mostly just jumping on the XDefiant bandwagon out of their spite for CoD. Not a recipe for success.
It's funny how Call of Duty was pretty much dying off as a series when the older Millennials got older and people learned that the Call of Duty games after Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 1 were mostly just garbage. Only to see the series get revived by Zoomers and younger Millennials.
Saying the COD fanbase didn’t like BO3 is just wildly inaccurate. Attributing BO4’s failure solely to the hero shooter stuff is also not giving the full picture. That game was very different and weird compared to most CODs, changing the health mechanics in a way that just made it feel like a different game entirely.
The CoD fanbase never really embraced BO3. It has one of the worst campaigns in the entire franchise, CoD players never really liked the "advanced movement" mechanics, and the hero shooter elements were always seen as a gimmick at best. I know all this because I was playing the game at the time. It's a merely average-at-best game that has only been seen positively by the CoD fanbase in hindsight because it wasn't anywhere near as bad as some of the games that came after it. BO4's a mess all-around, not just in the hero shooter elements. This video isn't about CoD though, as much as I ultimately have to use it as a point of comparison. Unfortunately XDefiant is just a pathetic CoD clone that's mostly become popular out of spite for CoD rather than any merit of its own.
I couldn't tell if I was watching gameplay footage from Xdefiant or Call of Duty. I had to open a second tab go to TH-cam and look up Xdefiant gameplay just to be sure. Holy shit, it looks just like Call of Duty. Even down to the little x's that popup when you shoot other players. LOL It's a freaking COD clone. LOL
Stop exaggerating lil bro. COD doesn’t have a health bar with hit point numbers like that. And most multiplayer shooters have hitmarkers, that’s not a COD thing.
Slop. Because someone else has been doing this for 20+ years and has developed an engine, gameplay and marketing that work seamlessly together to produce a game that injects dopamine straight down your eye sockets. Can't accept any other level of quality other than the very cream of the crop.
I mean, technically you can't really buy XDefiant since it's free to play, but I get the sentiment and highly encourage everyone to make things clear to Ubisoft with their wallets.
Not knowing anything about those games it doesn’t bother me. I just wanna shoot shit lol. I was kinda disappointed that the other characters are just skins. Maybe they will give them some traits in the future. Something subtle.
I just can't stand all the Call of Duty fanbois whining about their Ex, Call of Duty. The bland weapons and crap hit detection doesn't help either. No thanks, take Ubisofts cash-grab somewhere else.
The hammers being down are a pretty frequent blunder, and would only make sense for the quite uncommon hammer fired DAO handguns. I'm a bit more forgiving about it for games from the 90s and 2000s, but after that there's really no other excuse than ignorance/laziness with the abundant amount of information available on guns in text and video, accessible in a matter of seconds. As for the game, other than Echelon I don't give a damn about any of the factions, and even "NSA" seems to be phoned in, so the "best of (post 2010 aka idgaf) Ubisoft" motto is anything but impressive.Gunplay looks meh, the aesthetics are meh or outright ugly, gamemodes are also meh... With the backlog of games and other media I have, my free time these days is actually quite valuable, so a game being F2P doesn't really benefit me anymore. I'll pass.
people say that Cod is souless these day's and it's true but xdefiant is just a corpse that never started with a soul lmao i'm hoping i'm wrong in the future but this game has zero reasons to play atm besides striving for gold camo....it's just not in a good spot regardless of what people say it has very little to do and they only keep you playing by making the weapon xp gain slow as all hell.
Spent all of my time prior to player level 26 in the "welcome" playlist, which has SBMM enabled on it. The constant slide/bounce/etc. is just annoying. Doesn't even help much in XDefiant. If I wanted to be constantly hopping around like a madman I'd just play Quake.

I don't know why but Ubisoft could add the 101st airborne from their brothers in arms as a faction
No, don't do that. All the other Factions at least fit because they're from the same or close enough time period. Leave the historical guys outta this. They could however add in bodark from ghost recon, or another faction from another ubisoft title
@@nickysimi9866 just joking. Never! I grew up playing those games man
@@brickproduction1815 yeah same, well in that case, what is a faction you would wanna see in xdefiant?
That could work if they wanted to add WW2 weapons.
In regards to the Tom cpancy moniker, I think siege is at a point where it should drop both the rainbow Six and Tom clancy titles. I mean look at the game now, it looks like a mobile game nowadays, how tf did that happen?
I hate when devs cut the front sight post on the m4/m16 when mounting red dots. I guess developers don't know what a lower 1/3 co-witness is.
I mean, the devs of this game are in San Francisco. I'm surprised they even know which end the bullets come out of.
@@DWTerminator I think the only devs that did it right was Tripwire in the original killing floor with the M4. Also, can we stop using that airsoft tier red dot that every FPS game have for some reason.
Yeah I’m so tired of people glazing this game and legitimately thinking it’s on the level of cod4 and mw2
If someone's saying it's on the level of CoD4 and MW2, that just proves they've never played CoD4 or MW2.
@@DWTerminator oh trust me. I've seen people say it. I keep seeing youtubers compare it to old school CoD. And I just don't agree
As I mention in the video, the correct CoD comparison is with Black Ops 3 & 4... neither of which are remotely "old school CoD."
MW2 is atrocious, terrible balance and horrible map design, like, have any of you guys even played derailed recently?
It *does* have SBMM in the welcome playlist and ranked mode. Just not in the casual mode.
Some of those high level and pro players have online careers so they have reasons (money) to defend these games and the way the games play.
Hence when companies listen mostly to "pro" players, their games tend to alienate pretty much everyone else.
An fps game doesnt need to be a cod killer to succeed!
It just needs to be an alternative!
"Ubislop" is my new favourite derogatory moniker. :-))
So...they have overwatch escort, overwatch point control, and destiny/destiny 2 supremacy. Wow...plus shitty cosmetics, a battle pass(plus a monetized version), and a progression system that sounds slower than a snail...
Glad I didn't pick this game up.
Kernel-level anticheat :(
i want to play it. But... it still creeps me out to endorse this trend with my playtime
Can't blame you, but unfortunately most of the major anticheats are kernel level. Even the "old-school" anti-cheat Punkbuster is technically kernel level. BattlEye's at least one of the less egregious ones since it only runs when the games using it are running.
Without community servers, then it's either having"intrusive" anticheat in your game, or playing a cheat-infested hellscape.

Ranked modes actually have a purpose with this model imo
About the weapons, both Division games have a ton of weapons they could've repurposed and just made FPS animations for.
I don't think the weapons in The Division 1/2 are high enough res to work in first person.
The game feels like a Chinese CoD
I'm happy I'm not the only one who didn't like how they made some of the guns look all nasty and beat-up. Some are getting close to a Borderlands style with all the damage...lol...slight exaggeration but still. A guns appearance has always been key for me. Once and a while I'll use an attachment I have no use for just so the gun doesn't look so ugly (referring to CoD games) but in XD were kinda just stuck with it. Like how you mentioned the AK....its a good gun in XD but I don't like using it cause it's ugliness is just staring me in the face at all times.
Xdefiant is great , you need to check out settings videos to get the most from it . Sbmm has made cod very hard to play for me .
The game is fun. I wanna see it flourish in the foreseeable future.
Think I played about 5 games and just thought it was utter rubbish.
Womp womp
You’re just trash 💀
All fps games should have cheat based matchmaking, force all the cheaters to play in the same lobbies!
It's funny how Call of Duty was pretty much dying off as a series when the older Millennials got older and people learned that the Call of Duty games after Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 1 were mostly just garbage. Only to see the series get revived by Zoomers and younger Millennials.
CoD was never "dying." Even at its worst it was still always in the top games on the sales charts every year.
@@DWTerminator Sometimes I forget BO3 even exists😅
I couldn't tell if I was watching gameplay footage from Xdefiant or Call of Duty. I had to open a second tab go to TH-cam and look up Xdefiant gameplay just to be sure. Holy shit, it looks just like Call of Duty. Even down to the little x's that popup when you shoot other players. LOL
It's a freaking COD clone. LOL
Stop exaggerating lil bro. COD doesn’t have a health bar with hit point numbers like that. And most multiplayer shooters have hitmarkers, that’s not a COD thing.
As far as the health bars go... I see you forgot Black Ops 4 and Cold War exist.
Slop is right
Slop. Because someone else has been doing this for 20+ years and has developed an engine, gameplay and marketing that work seamlessly together to produce a game that injects dopamine straight down your eye sockets. Can't accept any other level of quality other than the very cream of the crop.

This game is trash. The hit reg is awful. I get two shot kill. I unload a whole mag and enemy is still alive.
What lobbies are you in 💀 Every one I join everyone slide hopping and bouncing around lmao
@@DWTerminator nah the movement is so fluid, too fluid to the point where the sweatiest movement shooter lovers are going to take over the game. I’m still playing in the welcome lobbies and all I get is sliders and jump shooters. It’s either going to get dominated by old black ops three players or titan fall players, because some of the movements you can pull off to avoid bullets is insane or it’s going to get a rebalance on how you can move around especially considering how even LMG’s and other heavy weaponry don’t even have an impact on how fast your character can move
When you gonna do ULTRAKILL?
Not sure.
Ehh most of your points just sound like you’re coming out as a hater tbh BUT you’re not wrong on some things. why does bro have the hasan piker accent where his words either finish or fade away into a weird low groan type thing, it really gives the vibe of "I want to shit on this game" rather than "I want to be objective with my words to articulate why I believe this game deserves criticism and praise in aspects"

Dawg, cod is actively dying as we speak.
I've lost track of the number of times I've heard "CoD is dying" over the past two decades. It remains one of the best selling games every year.
Back in BO1 people already said COD was dying, back in MW3 OG people said COD was dying.
Yet it's still standing and people keep playing it, quite weird for a "dead game" don't you think?
call of duty is already dead. most people play it for the first month of a new release and never go back to it.
CoD is far from dead. It remains one of the most-played and best-selling games in the industry. We'll see if Game Pass changes that, though.
I find it funny that you tried to make everything about the game negative and it quite literally highlighted 90% of the reasons why people are flocking to this game. Can't make everyone happy but someone has to complain about a free game without SBMM.
The game's utter mediocrity and soullessness speak for themselves. All I did was elaborate on them.
Don't be surprised when XDefiant completely drops off after a few months to a year.
@@DWTerminator It isn't really that mediocre. They literally stole the things everyone likes from multiple games. I will be playing the game for the rest of the year personally.
