What a wonderful surprise to see you react to this tonight!! One of my all-time favorites ever!! I always interpreted the story as the second woman coming down the stairs represented the Spirit of Death (as a Temptress!) She's come to claim the male who is unconscious and living between the two worlds. The powerful force of Love from his lover who is caring for him revives him and Death has to go back to the light from whence she came. Now, I will really flip if you do a reaction to The KLF feat. Tammy Wynette on the song "Justified & Ancient" - definitely the single/video version with Tammy and not the album version which does not include her! One of the best pop songs ever written and highly underrated as a group it’s a shame they didn’t have more success or albums to enjoy. The song is the perfect example of a sonic Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde. You just don’t expect the song to switch on you as it does. Marcella Detroit is American. Prior to Shakespeare's Sister she co-wrote Lay Down Sally with Eric Clapton. She opens the song.
Siobahn Fahey was in Bananarama. She is the vamp/death in the video. That was her singing, too. They, very early, hit on the vamp/ingenue dynamic, even in You're History, they're first video. Hormonally Yours is a great album.
