  • I think she made great strides in producing this content. I cant wait to see what else she does.

The funny thing is that Calli actually edits most of her music videos herself, so it’s really a question of what is more work for her, the editing or actually performing the mocap. Really a completely different experience for her, I imagine.
But yeah, this video is great. Cool to see you excited for the 3D MV. Calli just debuted her 3D model over the weekend at a massive concert Hololive put on featuring 38 of their talents. The technology here is cool, but for the concerts it is even crazier. Somehow they make them look like they’re really on stage in front of a real audience with a live band off to the side.
If you’d like to see more 3D MVs from Hololive, I recommend you check out Tsunomaki Watame as she seems to have the most that I can think of, one of which, Cloudy Sheep, actually features Calli. Her songs Zero no Ashiato, Rainbow and Everlasting Soul also all have really cool 3D music videos.

The animator for the MV, Nonoru, has also done MVs for other Hololive membersL Hoshimachi Suisei's Jibunkatte Dazzling, Tsunomaki Watame's Zero no Ashiato, and Aki Rosenthal's Shallys.

3D MVs are something Cover/Hololive has done before, we just had to wait for her to debut her 3D model which happened just this past weekend. I can understand the desire to tweak the animations more but perhaps they want it to properly reflect the technology the use to mocap, seeing as their main focus is developing tech to mocap in real time. Just my guess, though.

Excellent point! It’s just fun to think about with all the possibilities. The whole thing is amazing

@@Mattables I'm most excited to see them develop the technology to the point that adjustments wouldn't even be considered necessary in the first place. What a day that would be.

7:50 what you’re talking about is actually a technology that predates vtubing itself from the Vocaloid scene , called MMD (Miku Miku Dance). I’m not an expert in MMD, but my understanding is that movements of the 3D model are first animated, then you add an environment, and then do the camera work and VFXs to make it not look blah. I’d assume this was “filmed” on a similar program rather than actual film Calli at all. I know that both Watame and Suisei from Hololive have done 3D video like this, but some of my favourites in this MMD style from the VTuber scene are by Koko and HimeHina (I’ll list examples below). Also, if you want to check out MMDs on your own, I’d recommend Pizacg, SaltyKaleChips, and AtAt0307. I know that community doesn’t like having their work reuploaded so I wouldn’t recommend reacting to it unless you reached out to them first to be safe (also, they often use copyrighted music so…), but if you’re interested in it, definitely check them out.
    3D Vtuber MVs
Watame ft. Calli - Cloudy Sheep
    Suisei - Stellar Stellar
    Koko - The Last Bullet
    HimeHina - Pendulum Girls
    MMDs
Pizacg - Getcha (song by GigaP and Kira)
SaltyKaleChips - Scream (song by Dreamcatcher)
AtAt0307 - Roki (song by MikitoP, cover by Afterglow)

Glad you were able to catch Cali's album release! Not sure if you were interested in reacting to any of the other songs on her album, but if you do I'd recommend either "Dead on Arrival"
or "Huge W". They are both a bit different from her normal music, but they are both fantastic and unique in their own ways. Either way, enjoyed the video and keep up the good work!

Dead on Arrival is a banger and has a good mix of languages, as does Scuffed Up Age.

What you've mentioned about the song being cute, but very energetic, is literally what Calli's character all about.
In Japanese it's called Gap-Moe, which roughly translates as "Rough exterior with soft underbelly".
She's a Grim Reaper, very badass rapper and based person, but she's also a very cute, soft and sofisticated lady, that lets her cute side slip through the badassery of the rapper. :D
The whole Album she released is a collection of different styles and genres of music bundled together, since she wanted to experiment and try herself in new ways of singing and performing.
Even if you'd check the album on your own, I heavily recommend to check out [Q] ft. Gawr Gura (Gura does japanese part of the song); Ouroboros in a more rpg-adventure style; Graveyard Shift ft. Boogie Vox, in a more electric swing style (Vox is japanese rapper).
These 3 as my fave ones of the album, not to deminish the rest tho.
Oh, and by the by, Calli recorder her dancing with full-body motion capture suit, then Nonoru made the surroundings and animated her flying around (since she can't actually fly).
For the dance she had choreography lessons, for that MV specificaly.

8:18 this musicvideo is a mixture of mocap and animation. A lot of the movements are done irl via mocap but some parts (like the backflip) are done via animation. I think they did a great job of blending it together so that it isn't that visible

0:36 the reason its called 3d is because shes using her 3d model that she got for a hololive concert in Japan, where she was normally flat like a cardboard cutout shes not layered and has, what we are

I suppose you can do motion caption for the mv. I don't know if that's what they did, would have to look at the credits. Her new album is pretty great, don't expect a full album review. But it's a fun listen! She does have a Japanese version of this song.

Personally i think that quick snappy transition pairs well with her style and how quickly she switches from singing to fast rap, glad you liked the song as much as i did!

I definitely don't agree with that transition thing in the first chorus, I love that snappy transition, think it works super well with the duality of the song. Otherwise--was definitely a fun reaction video

If you thinks this is impressive then you should check out some of YFU Baby's, (pronounced Waifu Baby), music videos which are usually recorded and performed live during her streams. I recommend the songs Dimension, Turn You, or Bank Heist as a starting point.
