    You're a damn good reviewer/tutor! Pioneer should be paying you for this. Subscribed and look forward to future vids.

    I'm a Vinyl guy, but I follow equipment in the hopes one day I can add digital to my mix. This is by far and away the most common sense and practical review I have seen on these. Hands down. By the third review on TH-cam, we can all recite the features of the CDJ 3000, but putting the features in real world terms is a rarity. Well done and thank you!

      Thank you very much! I found many reviews to be little more than dramatic readings from the manual, which is great but didn't really teach me what I was trying to learn. I'll be trying to make similar videos on any new kit as it comes out, provided I can get my hands on some.

    I might be the minority on this but:
    If you already own CDJ-2000NXS2 , then do you really need to upgrade to a CDJ-3000 that badly?!?!?
    I mean I could understand things like bigger screen and hot-cue buttons being more accessible (compared to the split-bank setup of the Nexus 2).
    But apart from that, is there a big need to upgrade that badly?

    • @BloodKlotz
      @BloodKlotz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I touch on this a bit in the 'Whats Missing' section, but in short, not really. I don't think for most 2kNXS2 owners it makes much sense to upgrade right now!

    • @blackcyborg009
      @blackcyborg009 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BloodKlotz I see.
      Also, if I remember right, there is still some hot cue latency on the 3000 units.
      This is probably why James Hype still prefers to use the Nexus 2 setup

    • @BloodKlotz
      @BloodKlotz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blackcyborg009 I know that some people have had reliability issues with them and are sticking with last gen for now, which I can't blame them for. Personally I haven't had any issues yet after about a dozen sets on them, but larger artists have more exposure than I do. As for the latency, the 2kNXS2s will only have more, so that's probably not why. Nothing wrong with sticking with what you're comfortable with though!

    Great review! - ive got the nxs2s and have looked at a lot of reviews but this is the only place i have seen it explains the 3000 will not display a nxs2 (2nd) waveform via pro dj link

    Great so you suggest the DJ DJM-900 NXS2 and the CDJS-3000 is a good combination.

    • @BloodKlotz
      @BloodKlotz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely! And I expect that to be the club standard setup in a few years anyways, so by the time clubs are back and you are ready to get bookings there, you will be familiar with the equipment!
      Sidenote: With all this CDJ money, I could use a new 3000 too 😂

    dont get drunk or high when you dj and I guarantee, you wont mistakingly hit random buttons by mistake.
    so many DJs seem to be giving Pioneer a pass on this overpriced "Nexus 3".. they have moved around buttons, they've upgraded the display (its just a lower end display found in Pioneer head units for cars). wow! Such innovation!
    The DAC chips are identical in the CDJ 3000 and the CDJ 2000 NXS2. In other words, they sound the same.
    The 3000s have a dedicated mpu allowing for additional processing. That's good! This had to be implemented in order to allow for things like cloud access to services that require logins and are behind paywalls. Mark my words, that MPU will eventually allow Alpha Theta to implement paywalls to put future updates/upgrades behind a subscription plan or to milk users for additional fees. You get added benefits with an mpu such as processing power for on the fly analysis and feature upgrades and additijns that rely on software processing rather than just hardware limitations. BUT everything in this unit is Pioneer attempting to catch up to innovations found in their competitions hardware (namely Denon). PioneerDJ/Alpha Theta are not the same company they were before getting sold off from the Pioneer brand. they were hemorrhaging money and almost bankrupted Pioneer.. but this was largely in part to their commitment to R&D. They were true innovators in the scene. under their 2 subsequent owners, that aspect of Pioneer DJ was cut. It was far too expensive to maintain. It is no different under their new owners--the research and development is being conducted by Denon, with Alpha Theta engineers being relegated to backwards engineering competitor's hardware and implementing similar features in to their devices. the knobs, buttons, tactile switches are a mishmash of components cannibalized from their older controllers, mixer and players. and yet DJ's are so quick to ignore the absolutely ridiculous inflated price they are charging.
    And for DJs that avoid the key sync button, please understand that the second you adjust the pitch/tempo of a track, you have adjusted the key of that track. if your record box analysis said the track is in A minor (or whatever that dumb camelot labelling system says), and you speed up the BPM to beatmatch, the track is no longer in A-minor. it doesn't magically stay in the same key at different BPMs. It's not possible without some digital manipulation through whatever algorithms the hardware is programmed with.. thats what the Master Tempo AND Key Sync does.
    so for the love of god, please use key sync a lot more than you guys are using it.. harmonic mixing works only if 2 compatible tracks are both played back at their individual native BPM. since that rarely happens, and you often are slowing down or speeding up one or the other or both you're altering their key.. they are no longer compatible. a lot of times it might sound okay to you, maybe because you've practiced a lot with that same track.. but for people that have not heard those tracks mixed together before, or innocent sound techs that have never wronged you and are just enjoying life- and might i add are oing all they can to make you sound good in the PA--to be subjected to an acoustic assault of clashing frequencies and demonic harmonic tones that leave your ears ringing is not fair.
    okay maybe I'm exaggerating a bit.. but seriously, it takes a deep understanding the "circle of fifths" and music theory to truly makes harmonically.. seasoned & classically trained musicians can do this. DJs (mostly) cannot do this. I cannot do this. but I can tell when two tracks are clashing. your crowd may not know exactly what is happening, but subconsciously, their mind will be able to tell something is off. they might not know what was off, but they'll walk away knowing something about your set sucked. USE Key Sync, use Master Tempo. Those tools were put their specifically for DJs to help avoid this common problem.

    Dope review man! Its too bad Pioneer dropped the ball so hard with these. Hopefully the cost and the poor feature set will get some clubs to swap to Denon.

      this is a terrible take and i'm guessing youre a bedroom DJ. you are Denon's target market, not Pioneers. so this sentiment makes sense

    Thanks for replying. I currently have two technics sl 1210 tables I’m using a DJM -2000 nexus mixer. I was looking at nexus 2000s2 cdjs but after watching you video I have decided to buy the 3000 cdjs what mixer do you suggest I was looking at the v10 or the 900 also I need to know what model lab top to use I was looking at the mac book pro but not sure what model please help me. Thanks I want a nice system. This is for my home.

    • @BloodKlotz
      @BloodKlotz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly the 900 is more akin to mixers you will see in most venues, the v10 is more of a specialty mixer and you're not likely to need it. Any computer should do for this setup, and you'll be able to either export music to a flash drive OR plug the decks directly into the computer and read off of it that way :)

      Hi Glen! I'm not sure exactly whoch models you have right now, or which you are looking at.
      If you mean will the CDJ-3000s pair well with the DJM-2000 NXS mixer, then yes they will! The only thing to watch out for with this configuration is space. Since the mixer and the CDJs are all wider than what we have come to be used to, I would make sure your desk is big enough!

      Hey! I have the same set up: 2000 nexus and 2 nxs2. I would buy another pair of nxs2. 3000’s are awesome but they are very expensive. In fact most of new features many dj’s will never use. That’s why we will continue with nxs2 in the clubs at least during some time.
      BUT if you have money, don’t use CD’s and have a table bigger than your kitchen go for 3000’s.
      Cheers! 🙄
