For any people from the continent watching, if you come to North Shore, for Gods sake, please drive with aloha and when driving for instance in Hale’iwa, let other cars in and out! For us residents here, going to grocery store or Longs or Ace is like playing whack-a-mole with tourists either driving or walking and either not paying attention or just not caring. Be kind!! Remember, no rush, you are on Hawai’i time. 😊
I've been following yall for about 2 years now, and I just want to say that the progress yall have made on your videos is insane. The video format is so clean and organized and every video yall have been dropping is top tier quality. You can also see just how more comfortable and natural Derek and Mahe have become Infront of the camera. Keep up the good work!
Mahe...for those concerned about flooding @ >4:50...Helemano Stream, which runs alongside Giovanni's & Co. food trucks, is more prone to flooding than Anahulu(think that was 2018-19 when area btwn Kawamata/Shell garage & Giovanni's was turned into lake Haleiwa, if only for 4-5 days!)-lol...Seeing that news footage triggered "Memories/Flashbacks!"
The “white tower” is the bell tower of Sts. Peter and Paul church. Also Waimea falls botanical garden is right there. Great place to see and take a swim under the water fall. Need to pay to get in but we’ll worth it. You can spend hours there taking in all the exotic flowers and trees. Also peacocks roaming around.
Good water safety advice. I recall two young marines swam too far out and never come back. Strong bodies are little competition for the natural wilderness of the ocean, no matter how begiiling her beauty is. Love the location labels to understand the geography. The education on the diversity areas and realized potential of buying remotely is exciting. What a great on the ground team you folks are.
Awesome information!! Thank you for all of this information. This is very important to people from the mainland. Everyone should learn about the culture, traditions and customs that are so important to the Hawaiian people. We all should respect the land and people when a guest of the Hawaiian people.
Great video! I am so glad I live on the “other north shore”…every time I go to Pupukea Foodland I swear I won’t do it again but I like it more than the Wahiawa one. After all the traffic I sit in, I would be able to go to Foodland Waikele/Waipio which is my second fave. Because I am lazy I usually succumb to Malama Market prices and also Celestial Natural Foods.
01:03 Back in the late 70's an unpaved road did link the Waianae to the North Shore. That access was shut down after a portion of the 'roadway' fell into the sea sometime after. A good thing, in that it gives the land time to revert to its natural state.
FYI...Once upon a time, the Only way to traverse from Waianae to Haleiwa/Waialua was train system operated by Dillingham/Oahu Sugar Company. But that was mid-1910s to mid-1930s. Hawaii Railway Society travels along some of those same railways. Present-day Haleiwa Joe's was the turn around point for Oahu Sugar Railway
Home grown 73 yrs. North Shore was referred to as Haleiwa to Sunset Beach....name came from surfers...all a sudden wahiawa to Kahuku included because of the glamorous reference North Shore. Yes, I am annoyed because what was once rural is not anymore. It will get worse.
Hello very nice video. I looked in google on Waiaula and there is very brown water like from river in sea. Its often like this? Or its after rain? Its true the google satelite shots looking few years old. Thank you for answer Greetings from Czech republic
So you answered question, Laie is where North Shore ends. That is what I thought and have always told my friend she lives on windward side cuz she is in Hauula! But she always say she lives North Shore.
