Den Bosch is famous for its medieval city centre, with its beautiful icon the Gothic St. Janskathedraal, its unique tunnel canals and its many attractive old streets. Den Bosch is also known as the birthplace of famous Dutch renaissance artist, Hieronymus Bosch. Beautiful City. Thanks for sharing.
Hieronymus Bosch was not a renaissance painter but pre-renaissance really and his subjects are mostly religious (although taking them for a serious ride) and considered one of the (if not thé) first surrealists. You could even state he was a pre-protestant if you understand his paintings.
Very artistic St John cathedral. Beautiful to see the sidewalk cafes and bikes Bar snacks.... Good to know Love the canals That is well done finding your way back! Cheers 192
Always good to let loose on your own. Says me I love it. Great looking church and pity you didn't realise at the time you could climb the tower. I'd have been up there for sure. Always some interesting food makes an appearance and the canal trip looked a great way to see the place 👍
Its pretty awesome you can take a quick jump to the Netherlands, see Dear Mother and check out historic, awesome looking church architecture. That was a really neat view of the building on the river tunnels.Things like the tunnel is what makes European cities so fascinating.
I was able to feel the grandeur of 'Cathedral Den Bosch' while watching this video! It's also nice to enjoy boating on the waterway. I also visited the Bitterballen restaurant while traveling in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and seeing this video makes me want to go there too.
Haha, bitterballen restaurant. That is hilarious. You must be American for sure or of equal mindset. Bitterballen are snacks that they serve in drinking establishments. It is not considered a meal of any kind, moreover not as restaurants food. McD, Pizzahut and their MSG friends do not pass the threshold in the Netherlands as a restaurant, nor do we need humongous kitchens as the center of the home and have no clue how to even cut a vegetable to have Taco Tuesdays and Pizza Fridays only or the need for double ovens because once every 3 years we have to bake cookies and a turkey at the same time. Not to forget a sink in front of the window to watch the kids but a dishwasher is a necessity. It is all playing family as seen on TV. Lol. We cook simple at home in our tiny, miniature kitchens, ½ veggies, ¼ meat, ¼ protein (usually potatoes), followed by dessert. When we go eat at a restaurant, we expect decent food, mostly French style (called Bourgondisch), when we are not able or willing to cook at home or on weekends and happily pay more for that. American franchises are considered rubbish really and we have our own snackbars and other, European and Middle eastern junk, if we choose to eat unhealthy. That's why, outside of Amsterdam, you only find Pizza Huts, Taco Bells, etc. in train stations. The rest of the country is not interested other than an occasional kid's birthday party at McD. We also do not copy and paste food from other countries and create a mediocre version and call it our own. Together with the foreign food, we bring in the foreign cook as well. We love the original, not the duplicate from Kraft or microwave alternative. French fries (try to get fries in France!), Dutch doors, Mediterranean style, Mexican food, among many, many others, all do not exist outside American borders and are merely a marketing slur for the unknown and uncultured. Those same people come to Europe and then want to judge and criticize the originals as if somehow they set the inferior standard. Specially in The Netherlands, we are dippers and not drown'ers and we do not cover our food in processed sauces or fake cheese that only makes every dish a variation of the same, not to mention the MSG requirement that no American tastebud can do without, nor the hormone content in meats or vegetables, bread and milk that are completely tasteless in the US of A. That is Dutch food culture, instead of a US perceived country of stroopwafels, stamppot, herring and poffertjes. We go for the good stuff or cook simple, healthy at home. But bitterballen restaurant.... OMG!
Wow! Various antique buildings are showing off their different beauty! You enjoyed various places while looking around Den Bosch in the Netherlands! Nice sharing! Hello! Greetings again from 100tour KOREA! Stay in touch, my dear friend! See you again! Have a wonderful week!
It is a beautiful day there! That cathedral is huge! The food looked great 😋boat ride looks relaxing too! I love the cobblestone roads and the views of the buildings..
When you say "let loose", are you referring to good old Dutch "Coffee shops"? Ha! (probably not!) Jokes aside, great video guys, good to see you're enjoying life - as it should be! 🙂 Big thumbs up from Shanghai.... Thomas
I see so many comments and in the video as well (although corrected): it is not a church but a Cathedral. Nice video though... The rivers (not canals) you took your boat tour on were not used for drinking water (together with used as a sewer?). There are water puts and wells over town (hence Fonteinstraat and Lange & Korte Putstraat). Where you ate your Kroket, you were actually sitting right in front of one. There are no lagers and ale's in the Netherlands (unless imported). Mondays and Tuesdays are a lot more quiet because the personal and staff also need their days off. The Netherlands is not a 24-hour economy for that reason and most shops close at 6pm and not open on Sundays either, unless for entertainment or tourists).
Thanks for the information. I knew it was a cathedral I think I just was using the term church loosely but your right it is a cathedral. Thanks for the information about the river
The city of Den Bosch in the Netherlands is very interesting to explore. You definitely won't miss it, because it's your last day in the Netherlands. There are still many beautiful things to explore around every corner. I can't wait to go on holiday in Holland, my sister.
A lovely city to explore, including the beautiful cathedral and lovely boat ride on the canals. The water looks so calm. I enjoyed your tour in full to the end. Thank you, my friend. 12:22
I love the educational benefits of watching your videos, Kate. The places you visit, the music, and of course the food. The bad thing is when I see you eating, I have a tendency to get hungry 😅. Thank you for bringing us along 😊
Such an awesome cathedral. Sorry you missed the climb. Love the brick and stone on all the walks. Lucky you were alone, only 1 spot left on the boat. The water was so calm, even out in the open. Not very many people out and about. Nice video👍👍55
What a lovely quiet sunny morning for a bit of exploring. I love the architecture of the beautiful cathedral, there are so many corners to explore. Delicious bar snacks .... you've sold me! The restaurant is a great place for people watching too. The canal ride was awesome,so many tunnels and such a great place for a beer afterwards. It looks like it was a great day.
The bar food sounds and looks delicious. The more I travel, and the less picky I get, the more I enjoy trying all the delicious stuff they make. The boat ride looked amazing. Lots of bridges and alley ways. You can see the heat pouring out of those crunchy balls! Great waterfront location. Akane is really good at getting around in a new place - not me - I'd 100% get lost without her.
Thanks so much Josh, looking forward to yours and Akane's adventures :) the crunchy balls or bitterballen as they are know were so tasty! If you like the taste of stew you'd love these :D
I enjoyed this segment, Kate! The cathedral was quite impressive, so massive and ornate. The waterways were peaceful. Glad you enjoyed some good food and drinks too.
The Netherlands looks beautiful. Fun to try new things, looks like a nice sandwich. Such lovely narrow streets with nice cafes and shops. Nice stop for a beer! What a stunning boat ride, the canals and arches are so cool! So cool to try bitterballen. Looks like a beautiful day to explore around the beautiful Netherlands! Thanks for bringing us along :)
The gothic cathedral was amazing and I love stained glass windows, also, I would have loved to have climbed to the top. After all that walking no wonder you worked up an appetite and when in Rome, why not try the local food. Nice to get your feet up with the trip but sailing 'under' a church - yikes! Cheers Alan
