4:30 If each person's callout is one kill, that meant Mobius 1 instantly destroyed eight aircraft. The scary part is that this is something not uncommon for Mobius 1.
I was hoping someone would notice that XD 4 was the kill count that I pictured in my head when I first made this, 8 makes more sense now since mobius 1 "infiltrates" megalith afterwards and no one on the erusian side calls the final the kills XD
Fun fact. Even considering the however many arsenal birds, aigaion and even the SOLG, this was the most expensive operation to date in the history of Strangereal: fielding 8 F-22s.
Can you imagine how the Yellow Squadron pilots felt seeing all those ribbons? A single ribbon pilot having shredded its way through their air force, splashing their greatest aces, ensuring their capital being taken. Then, in their last stand, they see an entire squadron of ribbons flying right at them. The voice actors in this game gave 110%, hearing the anxiety in their voices and desperation as they are torn to pieces by Mobius squadron really hits. Yeah, they are the bad guys,l and we were rooting against them, but hearing them get absolutely curb stomped is a bit surreal. They didnt stand a chance.
Every single time I play that mission, the whole Mobius Squadron gets splashed by the Yellows. No matter how I hard I try to save 'em all, they all get shotdown.
This was a passion project from not only the original team but the translators too. Having the radio chatter of 4:19 complete with the beeping of an enemy attempting missile lock was not required but shows the heart that makes Ace Combat 4 what it is today
I will never forget how all the ISAF pilots announces their call signs…then just hitting the afterburners to get an immediate lock on the lead yellow fighter jet and just shove two missiles down his throat….definitely loved AC4
Man, I wish there were more videos like this for other ace combat games. The one I keep trying to find is one of “Alicorn” from Ace Combat 7, because while I like the soundtrack, it’s not the same without hearing Torres’ insane ranting in the background
I've played every one of the Ace Combat series when they were released, and at least for the ones since 4 I just realized how much trust is put into the player with the final mission. Hearing the soldiers backed into a corner, knowing they should retreat but they know doing so would kill you, but your victory also saves them...there is something special in that. Hard to believe after all these years I'm still able to be amazed at these works of art we call video games.
One interesting point about the enemy planes during this mission. If you pay attention, you realize that they are all junior officers barely out of training. A good indicator is how they keep using theyre real names and break opsec by calling out who the new leader is on the full radio even how easily they kept panicking. The fact they were all Yellows was just propaganda to motivate the troops to keep fighting.
I’m listening to this to get inspiration for dnd, I want to have a situation where the party fights along a group of hardened air fighters willing to die for them to ensure they can save the planet.
Really nice, a bit crowded with radio chatter I'd say. I would love to have Emancipation, but just interspersed with the news broadcast messages that play throughout that level.

I was wondering. Why were the Erusean officers inside Megalith sending the meteors flying back down towards the ground? Were they actually trying to hit ISAF-controlled Usea again before launching the ICBM's?
The Erusians at Megalith were a core of fanatical young ideologues who couldn't accept surrender. They started using megalith's missiles to deorbit Ulysses fragments to go scorched earth. Basically a vengeance "if we don't win, nobody does".

Welcome ACE! You have quite the quest in store for you!
The nostalgia is unreal. Truly an unsung, masterpiece of a game. So proud to be part of the ace combat community!
