Just imagine you spend the entire war watching one man destroying your entire military complex near single handedly only to realize that during your final stand there's like 14 more of him. What an epic moment. It'd be like 14 extra master chiefs showing up at the end of Halo3.
Technically all the Spartan IIs are Master Chiefs, most of them just haven't done the same legendary things that he has.

The single greatest game I’ve ever played is Ace Combat 04. To those watching, it is nothing like playing it. Shivers run up and down your spine. Your palms sweat and your focus is laser sharp. The music, and he atmosphere, everything culminates in the perfect end to a perfect game. And YOU are the only one who can save the world from the megalith that is raining asteroids down from orbit.
I say unfortunately I started with The Greatest one,
But I also Appreciate Ace3 for having detailed flight graphics which fallowed Over to ace4 , and I appreciate ace5 for the Pure depth of story mixed with gameplay, but mostly the gameplay is what makes these games good and it's been rough that the creators won't make the gameplay with more Variety for all players
a remaster is needed, playing this mission in the graphics it deserves is all i have ever wanted

Being an 8 year old kid with autism and playing this for the first time, my god it was paradise, the only thing I cared about was not letting those soldiers die in vain. Never felt anything like it since.

The voice acting in this game was so damn good. The absolute pants crapping terror in his voice. Someone had some serious regret starting up that SU-37.
Only Ace Combat and Armored Core have gave me goosebumps with mission intros or soundtracks like that.

Sky Eye was the REAL boss of this game. Man told the entire Mobius Squadron to end Megalith and he was there watching his Raptors win.
I remember playing this mission. My dog is dying, he's very weak, and doesn't want to drink medicine. Since I cannot be by his side, and I think he doesn't want me to be there when he dies because he's hiding under the car, I just played Megalith while crying. I remember before I exited the last panel in the middle, my brother told me that he is dead.

Holy shit, how many other games can compare a finale like this. The music. The setting. The dialogue. Here you are, Mobious one, with a squadron of fighters of your caliber fighting an air front while there are ground forces coordinating with you to complete their objective. Goosebumps. every single time.

Remember playing this for the first time on my PS2 when it came out. I was just glued, eyes burning because I couldn't blink. Announcing multiple Moebius units one after the other.
I'm not sure why, but I personally like the presence of the seagulls in the opening shots of Megalith. I wonder what they're supposed to signify, artistically. Are they representing the rest of the living things on Strangereal, who have no understanding of the war the humans are waging? Or are they a sign that no matter which side wins, life will go on?
Those gulls have to signify something, otherwise they wouldn't have been put there by the devs.

What are the settings for this... how did you get that ghosting around the plane to go away...

Get yourself a PS2 (or newer console with backwards compatibility) and the game on Amazon and fire it up

Each one is like a Grand Epic That’s Complete 🤷♂️
This was my first Ace Combat game. I subsequently bought 5: The Unsung War, and Zero: The Belkan War. Five was the most entertaining to me; the squadron interactions, the way things played on the ground, and in the air. ( "Woof! Woof! Woof!" YES - NO? ), and Zero had the most pure replay ability, trying to get all three Ace Styles. But for pure story, and the feeling of "... maybe I am the hero", Shattered Skies will always come out on top. I was not a kid when I got this game (I had the Greatest Hits version, so I was out of HS before I got my hands on it), but it didn't stop me from spending endless hours flying through this game. I remember coming to truly respect Yellow 13 in a way I don't think I really can for nearly any other enemy ace. I remember the thrill of upgrading planes (Getting the Panavia Tornado was a game changer). But what sticks with me most was hearing the comms chatter. I took to talking back, because of course I did. Nothing hits the nostalgia high like hearing the calm voice of AWACS Sky Eye saying "Mobius 1, clear to engage." In fact, I'll admit to this; I got a little misty when, after getting my own copy of Ace Combat 7, I got the Mobius 1 DLC pack thing, and seeing that... stupid mass of airplane shaped pixels and lines wearing that old ISAF skin, with that ribbon tail insignia... well, let's just say nostalgia hits like a truck.
I said all that to say this. The exchange through the mission, of the ground crews with each other. God, I got invested in Bravo 1. That stubborn Englishy-Irishy-Austrailiany accent of his; "No, don't give up yet!", "We'll get those panels open! Don't let those pilots die!" But the final dialog exchange still hits me so damned hard. (Son of a bitch leading a ground squad into a super weapon, and wonders if *I* got out okay...)
"TARGET DESTROYED!"
"There he is! We've got Mobius 1 on radar!"
"Bravo 1 here. That plane that flew in, is it all right?"
"Yes, he's fine. I've got a visual on him right now."
"So, did we win the war?"
"I don't know. History determines the winner. But there's one thing I can say for certain. Heroes really do exist. We've just seen one, and now he's coming home."

Idk what's more impressive to me, the fact that a game from 2001 has native 4k support when the console it was made for can't even run in 1080p; or the fact the textures actually still look this good when upscaled like 400%.

What sad about this mission is that all the Yellows are just kids. They used the name for propaganda purposes, but as you listen to them they constantly break Opsec, they dont really use callsigns and easily panic as you shoot them down.
