Another great video, as usual. Really enjoy the way you give your opinion and a realistic view of the way things are in Cuba. We will be heading back to our favourite spot again very soon (Memories Caribe in Cayo Coco). Been there many times and it never disappoints. Yes, there are shortages, but we never go hungry. Plus, the beach and the friendly atmosphere of all the staff, many who we have gotten to know over the years, cannot be equalled. Our advice to anyone. Go with a good attitude and be open to try different things, and you will never be disappointed. Plus, you can never beat the price. All the best, and look forward to your next video.

Mike thanks for the update on Melia Las Antillas. We were there a couple years ago top floor with concierge service which was a nice perk. Food was good, beach was great, rooms were clean and everything worked but as mentioned in need of a little sprucing up. Great to hear they will be renovating and updating this hotel. Haha! Good old Timmie’s. It’s my Airport tradition. Just flew in to Santuary White sands. I made this choice. Thanks to your videos. I got here so late but sadly the minute we got off the airplane we were swarmed of mosquitoes. I brought lots of bug spray as you mentioned in your videos ☺️☺️ I have to say that I am quite surprised. The last time I was in Cuba in 2022 I stayed in Melia Cayo coco and I starved because they were serving us and not allowing us to eat normal portions( post pandemic rules). I felt too shy to go back. This time around the food is abundant. It’s not luxury and I’m not fussy but you are the one who taught me to manage my expectations . I’m paying C$849 including flight and transfers so I am darn happy about what I’m getting in return. Thanks for the great advice Mike. Ps the staff have been nothing but kind to me. As a solo traveler, I am often shamed for being alone, but the people here are not judging me or making a big fuss about it.😊

Thanks for a great video!! That Atrium looks awesome. There are so many great Resorts to go to in Cuba, and the price is fantastic. Sure it is an older Resort but it still looks great especially the beach. The food looks good but I'm not picky. I'm not sure you could find a bad Resort in Cuba. Take care and safe travels.

I could be wrong about this but I believe all beach bars have been removed in Varadero. Something to do with sand dune conservation. One of my favorites, the Sol Palmeras had theirs removed unfortunately. I mentioned it in another video but the Sol Palmeras is a great older resort. It's very classy looking and nothing really looks dated. whenever I go, I like to imagine that's what a top resort would look like if you were to travel back in time to the late 1950s pre-revolution, with the mid-century modern art style that is still so prevalent around Cuba. The main lobby building is really elegant with the main staircase going down to the lower level. I only wish the beach was longer and that the resort walking distance to town.
I'm very interested in watching this video as it was one of my top choices...although we ended up booking sanctuary in cayo santa maria! Thx to your other great video!

Hey Mike, love the videos ! You should try Melia Trinidad . Amazing resort and it’s new . Worth the visit. Beach is ok, not the best. More for snorkeling, which was an amazing experience. The city of Trinidad has a lot of history. The oldest in Cuba if I’m not mistaken. Anyways, love the videos, looking forward to the next one. Cheers !
this resort was never on my radar...maybe once the renos are done, but as usual, love the videos!! I've been lucky in that I haven't been to any truly bad resorts in Cuba. Maybe we can talk about some of the ones I've been to that you haven't yet hehehehe
@@jenniferfisher4912 one in particular, Brisas Santa Lucia...now it is much harder to get to (4 hr bus ride) as used to fly into Camaguey. We went there 10 times, it's a low star resort but we loved the people (they're all gone now either to other resorts or in the US). The best thing is that there are 2 villages right there with the resorts in Santa Lucia so it's nice to see the locals (bars and restaurants). There are 2 in Cayo Santa Maria that I recommend as nice, one quiet (Angsana) the other Valentin (both are adults only). We did do Melia Las Dunas ... it was meh. We've already talked about Starfish Jibacoa as you went to Memories Jibacoa, and one of my favourties is Sanctuary at the Grand Memories in Veradero so we're on the same page there LOL. The only other one is Club Amigo Marea Del Portillo on the south, very isolated and different. But we've never really had a "bad" experience thankfully.
@harsone960 I've been there in January..weather was awesome..bring a sweatshirt as some nights may cool down. I've seen it at 15 overnight..still better than canadian winters
Another great video. We went to Iberostar Playa Alameda during the first week of April. I’d be super curious to hear your thoughts on that resort!! It could also use some updates like this one but overall we found it good!

Wife and I spent a week here in June. Pool was great, spent more time in there than the ocean. Room was in the side buildings but looked the same. Shark feeding was cool. Our biggest complaint was the lack of food choice, lack of salt, and the odd cleaner smell. Although the lagoon smell (and we were right next to it) was NOT as bad as online reviews said. Sulfur smell, but no worse than any marsh...and it was pretty.
The Pool looked good!!! but way to warm for me!!!Being September"HOT' like 34 degrees everyday!!! Ocean had a good breeze!!! ya the food here was a small buffet and low season choices are in effect!!! But for what i paid I can't Complain, the Lagoon did'nt smell at all to me and trust me i have a sensitive noise. I don't listen to online!!! what i find out about doing what I do!!! you'll never make everyone happy, Complainers complain and most should never travel in the first place....lol thanks for the comment Mike

@@Finding-Fish you can not go wrong with the beach in Cuba I would say, it is not the widest, but once you move away from the umbrellas and the sunbeds it is quite, because close to the sunbeds in the morning they blast music for the animation, in the afternoon the animation moves to the pool.

Accurate review, resort is nice, and yes did small upgrade for concierge that was worth it for sure. One thing they need to absolutely fix is the lack of rum, Pina colada with cheap Spanish whiskey is not right for Cuba - or anywhere. Shouldn't have to have concierge upgrade to get Rum in Cuba

You should try the Melia Las americas. Quite affordable at the moment. Been there 2 times in 2013 and 2018. Planning to go again in the following weeks. From Montreal , it’s about 1080 can$ Want to go on a Friday because of the better flight time schedule but it’s only by Air Canada and there is warning of a pilot strike so I will wait till this is resolved before buying
The wife and l love your video's. We have been to Cuba 10 times in 11 years. We were just at Club Amigo Atlántico in Aug of this year and we will say though we know Cuba has many issues but we will probably not go back to Cuba again even though we love it there. We had nothing to drink in the way of pop / juice / or anything other then beer. Ran out of wine/ Champaign and only filled your personal bottles with water. They don't supply bottles there. Also had only chicken and pasta for all meals even the reserved dinner was chicken. No bacon at all and powdered or liquid egg. No butter ever but had bread though why bread with no butter. Anyway we will continue to watch your video's for we do enjoy them. Dominican is they place for us now. Take care.
Sorry to hear about your experience at the Atlantico..unfortunately it is a bottom end resort, I find spend a few hundred more and go to better rated resort, fewer issues..still cheap in the end.
@@AdrianLegge I understand that but many of the resorts around that area faced the same issues. Also l have read that Sunwing has cancelled all flights except on Mondays going to Cuba. I know a lot of people including my sister that was to go in Oct and had there's cancelled. Now they are going back to Dominican in Nov to an higher rated resort for the same price and also 3 extra days. Canadians have said that Cuba just isn't worth the trouble any more. To bad for we really liked going there but from now on it's Dominican for us too.

this resort was never on my radar...maybe once the renos are done, but as usual, love the videos!! I've been lucky in that I haven't been to any truly bad resorts in Cuba. Maybe we can talk about some of the ones I've been to that you haven't yet hehehehe

@@jenniferfisher4912 one in particular, Brisas Santa Lucia...now it is much harder to get to (4 hr bus ride) as used to fly into Camaguey. We went there 10 times, it's a low star resort but we loved the people (they're all gone now either to other resorts or in the US). The best thing is that there are 2 villages right there with the resorts in Santa Lucia so it's nice to see the locals (bars and restaurants).
There are 2 in Cayo Santa Maria that I recommend as nice, one quiet (Angsana) the other Valentin (both are adults only). We did do Melia Las Dunas ... it was meh. We've already talked about Starfish Jibacoa as you went to Memories Jibacoa, and one of my favourties is Sanctuary at the Grand Memories in Veradero so we're on the same page there LOL. The only other one is Club Amigo Marea Del Portillo on the south, very isolated and different. But we've never really had a "bad" experience thankfully.

Another great video. We went to Iberostar Playa Alameda during the first week of April. I’d be super curious to hear your thoughts on that resort!! It could also use some updates like this one but overall we found it good!

Wife and I spent a week here in June. Pool was great, spent more time in there than the ocean. Room was in the side buildings but looked the same. Shark feeding was cool. Our biggest complaint was the lack of food choice, lack of salt, and the odd cleaner smell. Although the lagoon smell (and we were right next to it) was NOT as bad as online reviews said. Sulfur smell, but no worse than any marsh...and it was pretty.
The Pool looked good!!! but way to warm for me!!!Being September"HOT' like 34 degrees everyday!!!
Ocean had a good breeze!!! ya the food here was a small buffet and low season choices are in effect!!!
But for what i paid I can't Complain, the Lagoon did'nt smell at all to me and trust me i have a sensitive noise.
I don't listen to online!!!
what i find out about doing what I do!!! you'll never make everyone happy, Complainers complain and most should never travel in the first place....lol

@@Finding-Fish you can not go wrong with the beach in Cuba I would say, it is not the widest, but once you move away from the umbrellas and the sunbeds it is quite, because close to the sunbeds in the morning they blast music for the animation, in the afternoon the animation moves to the pool.

Accurate review, resort is nice, and yes did small upgrade for concierge that was worth it for sure. One thing they need to absolutely fix is the lack of rum, Pina colada with cheap Spanish whiskey is not right for Cuba - or anywhere. Shouldn't have to have concierge upgrade to get Rum in Cuba

You should try the Melia Las americas. Quite affordable at the moment. Been there 2 times in 2013 and 2018. Planning to go again in the following weeks. From Montreal , it’s about 1080 can$
Want to go on a Friday because of the better flight time schedule but it’s only by Air Canada and there is warning of a pilot strike so I will wait till this is resolved before buying

The wife and l love your video's. We have been to Cuba 10 times in 11 years. We were just at Club Amigo Atlántico in Aug of this year and we will say though we know Cuba has many issues but we will probably not go back to Cuba again even though we love it there. We had nothing to drink in the way of pop / juice / or anything other then beer. Ran out of wine/ Champaign and only filled your personal bottles with water. They don't supply bottles there. Also had only chicken and pasta for all meals even the reserved dinner was chicken. No bacon at all and powdered or liquid egg. No butter ever but had bread though why bread with no butter. Anyway we will continue to watch your video's for we do enjoy them. Dominican is they place for us now. Take care.

Sorry to hear about your experience at the Atlantico..unfortunately it is a bottom end resort, I find spend a few hundred more and go to better rated resort, fewer issues..still cheap in the end.
@@AdrianLegge I understand that but many of the resorts around that area faced the same issues. Also l have read that Sunwing has cancelled all flights except on Mondays going to Cuba. I know a lot of people including my sister that was to go in Oct and had there's cancelled. Now they are going back to Dominican in Nov to an higher rated resort for the same price and also 3 extra days. Canadians have said that Cuba just isn't worth the trouble any more. To bad for we really liked going there but from now on it's Dominican for us too.
