I have been going to Cuba for 25 years now but I travel different than you do. I stay with the Cubans in the cities and towns so I see a different side and I can tell you, conditions are HARD for the average Cuban who is not a resort worker. We gather up donations, rent a cab, travel off resort at least 20 miles, find the local church and give the donations the the priest, padre, rabbi or who ever is there directly and let him distribute the things. Those are his people and he knows exactly who is in the greatest need. Also, on resort, take down some good work gloves , hats and eye protection for the grounds keepers. I have seen those guys working with rags tied around their hands to keep from getting blisters and cuts. Those are some hard working dudes that keep the place cleaned up and get very little credit. Thank you for posting this. Good and accurate information is hard to get when it comes to almost anything Cuban.
Thank you, as a Vegan who loves Cuba I will be going back in January. It's honestly so refreshing to have almost no processed crap for a few weeks. Love the channel, great to see other people who love the island ❤
@Finding-Fish of course, if in Cuba it's beans, rice, veggies, fruit, pasta, pizza (no cheese), bread, jam, espresso (no milk), rum and beer. Also cigars 😂
We (Canadians) just booked for December 6th . We bring a specialty water filter bottle when we travel, just in case. Just pump it through the bottle and it’s purified. Glad to hear there is bottled water available. We look forward to experiencing Cuba and aren’t afraid of challenges.
Thanks guys, even with all the bad press about Cuba...We will be going early February. The Cubans are so friendly, we tend to venture on foot far from the resort. We got back a few times by buses meant for workers, and another time a guy driving a ambulance gave us a ride back to the resort. Safest country ever. Plus you can't beat rhe current prices. 🙃
I'll confirm your findings, Mike. I returned from Starfish Cayo Guillermo last Sunday. Power worked without issue, we had hot and cold water, Food was fantastic with lots of variety. The beef was the best I've have had in Cuba. They had King fish that was unbelievably yummy. They had turkey three nights. They had mustard and Ketchup! Beautiful beach. Only shortages in toilet paper, napkins, and rum. Sadly, no Havana Club for most of the week. I met only 1 Russian couple and 1 couple from England. The couple from England talked of the difficulty of getting flights from Europe. Europeans are going to the DR instead. There were many polite Cubans staying at the resort. Three quarters were Canadians. Like normal, great weather except it was windy. Benefit is fewer bugs. I'm worried about the Rafael hurricane projected to make a direct hit on Cayo Largo on Wednesday (I love Cayo Largo) then crossing the island to Havana. Let's hope for the best for the wonderful Cuban people.
Can confirm what Mike and jen are saying , we just got back from Varadero yesterday and we spent 7 days at Sol Varadero beach and spent some days & nights in town and it’s business as usual, no shortages to speak of but that will vary by resort but that’s normal in Cuba.
Great video and I am very happy you both are doing this. The #1 reason why we go is the beautiful beaches! Decent room is #2 and food is always good enough (there may be a few things missing, but you will not go hungry. If you're expecting a Keg steak or Red Lobster shrimp, then don't go). Lastly, everytime we have gone, Cuban staff have all been super friendly, so that is never an issue. Cuban culture is very family oriented and they love kids. So, we are going to Cuba every year. Just have to take advantage of the good deals. The weather is not always in your control, so look at the forecasts if you can prior to booking if feasible.
I wish we watched this video when it was posted! I planned a quick trip to Cuba in October, but the blackout changed everything. Shame on us, we could've had a great time!

I follow a group for Jibacoa and I see almost 1st hand what is happening. On resort, everything is fine...it's off resort for the Cuban people that things are difficult. Stuff to bring..I've had specific requests for soap, toothpaste, mosquito repellent, deodorant. Looking forward to your next video.
The hamburger dude at the poolside grill has to be Alexander.... was at the Blau five years ago and he was one of our favorite staff. As well as Dunia who works the beach bar now. Wonderful people!

Hey Mike, I was on WhatApp with few on my friends few days ago that work at CSM, both in management position. They tell me, Resorts are OK, power generators, still shortages, but general public still in the dark for 8 to 19 hrs a day and, substantial shortages all over Cuba. Many Russians are tourists now, Canadians not so much. As someone thats been in Cuba over 25 or 30 times, It's not even close as it was 5 years ago and beyond. Beaches, I agree, most beautiful, most resort employees are great, in my personal experience, As a solo female I have been harassed few times for personal belongings, even though I bring ton of gifts and tip very well, not going into it. Yes, I've been in Mexico solo , I felt safe, other than heat heat rash😅. never been harassed. By the way, Kayo.. not Keyo (Cayo).😅 Aprende a pronunciar por favor.❤
Absolutely agree Over 50 trips to Cuba and some resorts are not as good as it used to be to be!!! Yes Cuba “ Designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism in 1982 “ U.S Department of State. Didn’t help Tourism!!! Lots of European tourists yes!!! Sorry I’ve never been harassed by employees for items so I can speak to that!!! Like I always say Cuba isn’t for everyone!!! But for safety it’s one of the safes Countries in the Caribbean!!! Traveling to over 10 countries in the Caribbean With over 75 trips myself Thx For the info Mike
Hi mike. I asked the question before but need your input. Did you do the electriconic Tourist visa?, or did your airline cover it? If you did, how did you pay? I know the electronic customs form is in effect, but apparently the tourist card can still be done manually. Headed to Varadero in December. Thanns

I’m Heading to Esmeralda on Friday
@@Finding-Fish well I guess I’m missing you again. Can you let me know your thoughts or wait for the video
I'm good with sun and a breeze. We booked cayo coco for late November and got a great deal. Love your videos.
Absolutely love ❤️ the deals too
Say hi to Raphael for me but hey "you do you".
Last week a friend was telling me about all the "horrible situation" at resorts. Wish more people would see your "boots on the ground" videos.
Thanks
Ann
You got the list
Awesome
The hamburger dude at the poolside grill has to be Alexander.... was at the Blau five years ago and he was one of our favorite staff. As well as Dunia who works the beach bar now. Wonderful people!
He still there!!!
He’s amazing
Great burgers too
Blau Varadero is probably my favorite resort in all of Cuba. Very beautiful and special resort.

We will visit Cuba (Varadero) this coming Sunday for the very first time, should've seen your video sooner, we would've chosen this resort instead 🤗...
We just have a question concerning the donation, how and where we can hand out the donation? Do we need to go out of the resort? Thanks!
Donation you can!!!
The gardeners
The cleaners
People off resorts
You will figure it out once you get established for a few days
@@Finding-Fish What resort are or were you at when filming this as thinking of booking Sanctuary at Grand Memories in mid December. Great video and keep up the great work.
I have a very important question:
Would you continue coming back to Cuba if prices were higher?
Important in what way?
Yes
Hi! Is it true that you must present proof of travel insurance when entering Cuba? Coming from Canada and I just saw this from my airline in my email. Went to Cuba 5 times and this is first time I see this

Been 7 times!!!
No video yet
@@Finding-Fish Too bad as I would have liked to see a video on the Royalton . Infact I have booked the Royalton for the end of November . This was the only hotel I paid big money in Cuba. Booked it in July and it cost me $1,850.00 for 7 days ! Hope it is worth it.

What about a mobile data? Do you need an eSIM?
I just used Wifi
You can buy eSIM
About $35 USD
6 gigs lots of stipulations
@@Finding-Fish a Cuban eSIM or any eSIM will work?
Sheesh, now a hurricane....keep safe if you folks are still in Cuba. I hope this doesn't set Cuba back either!
Which hotel are you at? And advise is appreciated.

How much of your stuff has gone missing from your room?
Watch my "IS MY ROOM SAFE VIDEO"
It explains how to keep items safe
Absolutely agree
Over 50 trips to Cuba and some resorts are not as good as it used to be to be!!!
Yes Cuba “ Designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism in 1982 “
U.S Department of State.
Traveling to over 10 countries in the Caribbean
With over 75 trips myself
Thx
For the info
Mike
Hi mike. I asked the question before but need your input. Did you do the electriconic Tourist visa?, or did your airline cover it? If you did, how did you pay?
I know the electronic customs form is in effect, but apparently the tourist card can still be done manually.
Headed to Varadero in December. Thanns
Its Free, you Do it online, your airline should send it to you!!!!
