When I became a preschool teacher one day I was just scrolling on TH-cam then decided to search teacher week in my life. You popped up and I've seen every video since! I love watching your videos. I see the passion that you have for teaching and I hope to have that as well one day!!!
I am currently working on my teaching degree and when I started my practicums I was so curious about teacher life, so I started watching videos on TH-cam. One day your channel came up and I watched a video and loved it! So I subscribed and went back to the beginning to watch your entire journey. Now I'm catching up on everything I've missed.

Maybe you could do something where if you get through a block of time with no one shouting out, the class gets a tally mark, and then when they reach a certain number of marks, the class gets a reward? And if someone shouts out, they lose a tally mark?

Something that worked for me for the kiddos who scream out for attention is instead of addressing their behavior, I would compliment students who are doing the right thing. I had a student who would just fall out of his chair for attention so I would call on other student saying “thank you (name) for sitting properly” and then I would redirect everyone in the classroom to check their bodies. That way he’s not getting the satisfaction of getting your attention. Then later in the lesson when that student that was acting out was sitting correctly I would compliment them and so know he was getting good attention instead of bad. And keep doing the same thing.

I have been losing my patience with my kiddos and I also need help with controlling the silly comments that some of the kiddos blurt out so if you get good advice on that you should definitely talk about it. When I was first thinking of getting into education, I went to TH-cam for reference before deciding if I wanted to transition. Your 1st year teaching classroom setup video was one of the first videos I watched and I’ve been subscribed ever since lol. I’ve now been full time subbing until I finish my degree so I deal with outbursts on a daily basis. Having a consequence like taking tallies or the minutes from recess is good. Maybe even on Monday revisit how to behave during learning time and have the students model what and what not to do. I loved all of your earrings in this video btw!!❤️

I've been watching your channel since you started and I was always inspired by your honesty about teaching! I also love how you vlog your life because teachers don't live at school right🤪? I remember staying up late to study and I would take a break and watch your videos for inspiration to keep going! Finally, I started my teaching journey for the 2021 school year in second grade☺️ but then was switched to kindergarten😳🙃! Do you use class dojo? It always works well for me when they are chatty or off task if I choose the random button and if they are on task when their name pops up they get a point. If they aren’t ready I just skip them.. I usually do it four times. Gets the whole class quiet very quickly! 😝 I almost always just award positive points but sometimes you just have to do negative ones. However, when I do give negatives it will be when they cannot see the dojo board and it makes that negative noise. So for example, if someone blurts out I would stop and give that student a negative point. Everyone will hear it, but it’s not announced to the whole class who it is. I hope this makes sense! Sometimes you just have to switch things up for a bit too especially this time of year when they have spring fever!! Have a great week! ❤️

I was struggling with shouting out in my Kindergarten class this year too. We read "Interrupting Chicken" and then I printed out and laminated a paper with numbers 1-10 on it. Every time someone shouts out, I "x" out a number. If we have any numbers left at the end of the day, we get to play one of their favorite games for the last 10 minutes of the day. It works very well! You just have to follow through with actually taking numbers away. I don't give warnings anymore. As soon as someone shouts out, I take away a number. Hope that helps! :)

I love using blurt bubbles this time of year for students being silly and shouting out! I give everyone a piece of bubble gum and have a conversation about how they are almost moving to the next grade and need to share great answers with the group. If they “blurt” sillies, they lose their chance for gum in that lesson! Gets the point across really quickly!

I think I found you by searching “first day of school - first grade” bc I’m teaching first grade next year and I wanted to know what to plan for! (My bad habit is planning way to far in advance haha)
When students are shouting out, it usually indicates they are seeking attention. So, I tell them that since they need attention from me/classmates, I would like to schedule a time to meet with them on the playground during recess. We usually have a chat about being disrespectful and how they could better handle their attention-seeking habits. I also let them know I would like to continue to meet with them everyday during recess until they learn to control this bad habit. They are taking my class time so I need to take their playtime in exchange. It may not work with every student but it usually works with most.

Teacher tip: I have an alexa ( the echo 8) and it the best thing ever my kids love it we have her tell us joke, play music, and tell us the weather! She can even present your morning slides! Of course its really small so i wouldn't do it every day but for something fun you can use it! You can also make it into a class job like clean off alexa or set up alexa or even ask alexa!
Hey there! Looking at your math graphics you were doing, I noticed you were using it like PowerPoint but as PDF files. Do you prefer to do that or do you use PowerPoint slides? I've had pros and cons with both. What's your experience with both? I also love to watch you while teaching. It's so genuine and sweet! ❤❤❤ Oh, and I always watch until the end, so no worries there.
