Another great Redbirds video! 1999 to 2003 wow, love all these old videos. I wish they ran a lot longer so I could ride them. I only have very little memories of the Redbirds when they were in service.
trainluvr No problem! Yeah, I've heard of that museum and seen videos of it. It looks really cool, I'll definitely make a trip there when I move back to New York. Do you know exactly how old you have to be to operate one? I also like the shots of Queens you took out the window as well as the old New York skyline and the Acela.
Nice capture and thanks for continuing to bring in memories of the IRT Redbirds in service. Always enjoyed a ride on those before. Noticed you also got the Acela cars in there when they were brand new. Sweet.
This video really takes me back! I miss the days when the 7 line was nothing buy redbirds galore. My best friend lives in Corona, and I would love taking the 7 to go hang out in that part of Queens.
Born in 1992. The only trains I rode as a kid were IRT lines. I'm loved riding redbirds everyday. Especially back when you felt the express trains flyby shaking the whole station like 11:53.
@@TiagoGomez-hb9te what do you mean by that? I’ve heard about them being on retirement and I remember I rode on them for the first time when I was a child.
Now i finally understand and realize why some R36s had the mid level and some had the high level windowed doors. The GE Cars (Black Yard stickers with purple diamonds) had the GE motors and the Westinghouse (Yellow with Purple Diamond stickers) probably former Pelham cars that came from the 6 which before 85 were on the 3. Thats how they told the 2 from apart. Though i saw 1 little GE pair with the High level windowed doors. Took a long while to see the distinct 2 but i see now. So much difference with hard to notice things.
Actually its the other way around. The R36 Worlds Fair cars with black stripe with the purple diamond in the middle are the Westinghouse cars with Westinghouse master controllers and Westinghouse switch groups. The Westinghouse cars had the variable load valve which makes the “puff” sound after when the doors closed. The GE cars with the Yellow stripe with the purple diamond had GE master controllers and GE switch groups. Those cars were equipped with newer SMEE equipment installed sometime in the 90’s and had the variable load valves removed. On the R36 Main Line cars, they have the yellow sticker representing Westchester yard as they were based out of that yard on the 6 before going to Corona yard. Those cars had variable load valves as well.
The 7 line once had B.M.T. trains running through it. B.M.T. cars are longer, so the platforms on the 7 line are longer than the standard I.R.T. platform,
These days, that can not happen. The platforms on the 7 are now all standardized for IRT cars that are 9 feet wide. B.M.T. and IND cars are ten feet wide.
No way that's from 1999. There's an Acela train that appears to be operating in revenue service at 2:37. Those didn't run until late 2000. Also, the sign at 10:29 that says Tuesday, October 23 can be used to confirm the year, by looking up the October calendar and seeing which days fall on which days of the week. That clip at least was from 2001.
@@trainluvr interesting. Different from the London underground, where it marks the end of a reduced speed zone. Don't the phones also have bleu lights?

Thanks. If you join the Shoreline Trolley museum at Branford you can operate one someday.

You will be of age (around 18) sooner than it feels to you right now. Getting there with the most minimal regularity is the problem you might face.

Excellent and enjoyable! This is a sweet bonus, especially with the R32's and the night shot as well, Trainluvr. Thank you very much for sharing this.

I miss seeing RedBirds on the 2. Good Times.
Jay Green for me it was the 4,6,and 6 line for the Redbirds
I’m so glad that I got to ride the redbirds on the 7 line before they retired.
Why is that?

One question why the 7 train has 11 cars not 10 like the other irt lines?

Telephone (for employees, cops)

The T sign was only seen in stations to make it easier to find a phone.
