I thought it just ment small things that are brightly colored are usually poisons and most species of animals recognize that so it doesn't need to hide. Seemed pretty straightforward to me.

@@John-dd8kh how is it intelligent design if it was just animals surviving more often with certain traits than with other ones? If an animal lived longer and produced more offspring with bright colors than an animal with dull colors, then the dull colored animals will eventually die out slowly. No mystery there, just evolution. It’s already been observed by humans in both laboratories and in nature.

Sorry but there is nothing intelligent about the design of anything. Things are the way they are because thats how they work the best in harmony. Its was all trial and error and especially in the animal kingdom it was a *long* process.

Lived in Southern California for six years. Used to go on runs in Sycamore Canyon. There are mountain lions back there. The most terrifying sound I’ve heard in my life was a mountain lion scream. It’s louder than you realize and will instantly send chills down the spine of anyone who’s never heard it. I can only describe it as a combination of a high pitched growl and a human woman screaming in agony. After I heard it, I didn’t go running in the canyon. I later read that they are ambush predators that go for the back of the skull and it isn’t the one you see that will get you. It’s the one you don’t see, which in the canyon is all of them.

I've some acquaintances who herd goats for their family, and Damascus goats are basically easy mode. Very nutritious milk and meat, usually give birth to three or four kids (yes baby goats are called kids) and they're adaptable as hell. oh no not "rebuke" in this context? Damn I've been half-listening so far and wish I knew exactly where this is. Casual Geographic is a 99.9% accurate writer, and the only reason I ever mention a mistake is when they are incredibly rare, and this is one channel in which mistakes are incredibly rare.
So... we are all human. CG [that abbreviation coincidentally holds personal importance for me which I did not notice prior to abbreviating] is incredibly talented. I catch mistakes in books published by the largest publishers on this continent sometimes, too. It's not something I expect other people to do, because I am different, like I said, I'm really just saying something so I can point out how absolutely spotless Casual Geographic's writing is. This mistake is what I would call "slanting definition" which is a misuse of the term "slanting rhyme" from poetry. It's close, so close that a person's memory might shuffle a couple adjectives and one word becomes its neighbour.

    Interesting Leopard Story:
I read an article a little while ago about a leopard who'd recently lost her cub, and ended up trying to take care of an infant baboon after killing its parents. (Leopards and baboons are natural rivals. The instinctive hatred goes so deep that baboons will often kidnap and kill leopard cubs to ensure they don't grow up to be threats.)
The infant couldn't have been more then a few days old, and was injured in the fight. Poor thing was a goner, and there's no way the leopard couldn't see that, but it didn't stop her from gently carrying it up to a tree to keep it safe from scavengers, and comforting it through the night until its passing.
The moral of the story: Mammalian maternal instincts run DEEP, and it isn't just humans who feel that protective urge when we view an infant of any species.

On the note of the bisons, my grandparents went to a nation park while they were coming back from their migration (they go to warmer states in the winter). And the rangers had to deny them access because a family decided they wanted pictures with the bisons and attempted to put their children on the bisons back. As one can expect, this went terribly wrong as the bisons trampled them and the children passed away. In which the parents then tried to sue the park for having untrained animals in the park. My parents where keeping a goat for a while..... they had a one of those diamond wire fences put up to make sure the dogs wouldn't get to her but it was rainy season and she kept escaping at night. We had no idea why until my dad decided to check the furthest corner of the fence and found out that she would go over there and nudge the bottom out of the soil which was softened because of the rain and slide out from there because for whatever reason she preferred to sleep next to the house. I've absolutely loved being around goats after that bc they're so amazingly intelligent and I love it

I raise dairy goats. Mainly Nigerian Dwarves. But about 1/3rd of our population is mixed. We raised some lamanchas. First one was mine and she lived for about 11 years. We have several of her kids who are mixed dwarf. We started out with 2 alpines first. Our current full breed lamancha is named Ava (after a demon person from the show Supernatural). She did have a sister named Ruby (named after the blonde demon Ruby from supernatural) but she unfortunately passed away at 3 months old. Lamanchas are personally my favorite goats. They have such a laid back but dumb personality. They're also super loud when they baa too. Ava hangs out with one of our great pyrenees dogs because she isn't accepted into the herd yet due to being as bottle baby.
But glad to know someone else knows about them! They're kinda the unknown goat breed it seems.

So true we have a lot of them on our rural land down here in Alabama .They are making a great comeback in our area thanks to feral hog trapping and hunting along with the other native species .My wife has converted our land to wildlife habitats out here and loves to see the babies .Not all domestic turkeys are dumb . My wife has a pet Bourbon hen she raised from a baby and she is really smart for a domestic bird .Maybe not as smart as her African Grey Parrot but very few creatures can compete with this Einstein of the animal world but a smart bird for a turkey .It might be because she is a pet and my wife spends a lot of time with her .Wild turkey are quite amazing creatures and never fail to frighten me when roosting up in the old oaks out here when they fly out .We do have some large wild toms come around to check out my wife's pet hen .She is getting her a Bourbon tom for company in a couple of weeks along with some more turkeys .

I know people think turkeys are stupid. It's true that they have a lot of flocking instincts to keep them together that may be confusing, and sometimes ridiculous for the situation. However, after raising heritage breed turkeys for several years, I can definitely say, they are not stupid. These birds have incredible problem solving skills, communication skills, and amazingly advanced defensive and fighting techniques. I have seen these birds reorganize their environment to suit their purposes. They will stop barnyard fights between other birds when injury or stress are an issue. They can hide their offspring in optimum cover and fly into a back flip to kick a hawk away from their poults. I have seen turkeys take out a feral cat that was killing young birds. They will observe the behavior of the chickens, and if one rooster is problematic (too much fighting, chasing hens down for unwanted breeding, etc.) they will organize a team and hunt down that rooster. I have even been able to start distinguishing the different sounds they make and learn of the complex communication system they have. They get a bad rap for being dumb, but these birds have far more intelligence than most people realize. If you just take the time to observe them, they can and will show you how smart they are.

I listen to a lot of creepy and/or interesting r/askreddits. One was asking about animals from the point of view of zoo keepers and other professionals. Its where I learned most keepers see Panda exhibits as a necessary evil as although they generate a lot of income for the zoo, they're really hard to care for. Rhinos on the other hand are very popular with their keepers. If anyone's watched the video of the orphaned juvenile Rhino's making squeaking noises at their Foster mom because its lunch time you can see why.
However, there one story from a safari guide on Leopards. He said that of the animals in the safari it was the Leopard that made him nervous. He told the story of a family staying at a lodge with a balcony. Despite being told NOT under any circumstances to sleep out on the balcony they let their teenage daughter do so. The parents come out in the morning to an absolute massacre scene and what little was left of the girl's body was found up a tree not far away.

Real numbers weren't seen as until about 2008. Now there's more groups on board specifically with the native Americans reverance of this creature in mind. Better yet, they talk to each other. In 30 years a quarter of not a 3rd of original herd sizes may be seen

The interesting thing about those sea slugs is that they are known to intentionally not sting unless absolutely necessary. They are so dangerous but also very easy to handle as long as you never squeeze them or pester them long enough to make them the you might be worth getting with because they can still kill you with their harpoon it's more of an accident than anything else. I have held them in my hands and depending upon a few things they may have a texture something like that of velvet or mushrooms. Also you can feed them without having any major problems. Lastly they have been known to swim up to people because they want things that live on you like mites and other very small things.

The Bible says in John 3:16-36 that whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life, the Bible also says in Romans 10:9 that those who declare with their mouth that Jesus Christ is their God, Lord, and Savior they shall be saved. Revelation 1:8 says that Jesus is the alpha and the omega. Luke and revelation is the ending times, and Jesus is returning back. So are you going to submit your life to him or no? Narrow is the path that leads to the gates of heaven, but only few people find it. The gates that is the path to destruction is where many people find it! Jesus loves you SO MUCH! That he died on the cross, and was resurrected from the dead 3 days later to give us eternal life.

12:25 I actually believe I encountered a cougar once (considering that a sight was noted in my area at the time) because it was cat like but about the size of a large-medium dog. It was dark so couldn't really see it but still got pretty close ( about 5~4 ft away) and it was slightly backing up while seem like it's wondering what is wrong with me (because I'm trying to call it like it's Fluffy/Fido). As I get closer I realized it is bigger than I thought so I stop advancing and it seem to notice this (there was a pause where neither one of us are moving and I stop making noises). It turns and walks away (which is where I notice it is definitely cat like but way larger than even a maine coon)😨.
I've had other incidence of misidentifing coyotes in my area as dogs (I'm not the one whos done it in my area but the fact I haven't been mauled is amazing ). It has gotten to the point that the coyotes are relatively cool (they'll still look at you like you're insane but) as long as you don't get too close and/or try to pet them. I think because some people have fed them, that they're like sure I'll be Fido for a few seconds to get food but no touching

Instinct says spot the danger. When he said "if you haven't already found it, you're dead" that's when instinct kicks into overdrive and you're looking because you don't want to be dead. Brain looks for danger if it knows its there. But if you go into the woods not knowing about those dangers, of course you won't know when to trust your instinct. Always watch the trees and walk slow. I make a to look down, up, and mid all around me, and take my time doing it. Because I live in an area that has snakes, bears and mountain lions. Lol sometimes you get whiplash from looking so much. But it's worth it when it means you won't die or can save you precious moments to pull out a weapon.
