"If something is that small and that colorful, its probably because it doesn't need to hide" that is actually a GREAT way to explain it to children. Thanks man!
I thought it just ment small things that are brightly colored are usually poisons and most species of animals recognize that so it doesn't need to hide. Seemed pretty straightforward to me.
@@John-dd8kh how is it intelligent design if it was just animals surviving more often with certain traits than with other ones? If an animal lived longer and produced more offspring with bright colors than an animal with dull colors, then the dull colored animals will eventually die out slowly. Lived in Southern California for six years. Used to go on runs in Sycamore Canyon. There are mountain lions back there. The most terrifying sound I’ve heard in my life was a mountain lion scream. It’s louder than you realize and will instantly send chills down the spine of anyone who’s never heard it. I can only describe it as a combination of a high pitched growl and a human woman screaming in agony. After I heard it, I didn’t go running in the canyon. I later read that they are ambush predators that go for the back of the skull and it isn’t the one you see that will get you. It’s the one you don’t see, which in the canyon is all of them.

I had a fox screaming outside our house in the middle of the night for months after their mate had been hit by a car a few streets over (at least I assume that's why they were screaming after seeing the expired fox a few days after I first heard the screaming). It was incredibly sad once I realized, but also incredibly creepy because it sounds like a little girl screaming.
As someone who volunteered for the Idaho State Historical Society, allegedly Geronimo liked doing the air drops after awhile (or at least got used to them) and he would crawl back in his box after being safely dropped. If you ever go to Boise, Idaho, the Idaho State History Museum is there and there is a whole little section just for Geronimo 😊.

In my experience, a scream in the North American woods is usually a cougar, owl, fox, trafficking attempt or your crunchy city neighbor Cathy getting chased by a badger she was too stupid to leave alone. It’s better not to engage and try to ignore it unless you actually hear words being shouted.
My mum heard a screech owl for the first time when she was a kid in Ontario. She said it sounded exactly like a woman screaming. I've stayed out in the country several times in my short life, often in cougar country, and not heard anything like it. Then again, growing up, I slept like the dead. Lol

If it's any reassurance, Damascus goats (we call them Shami in the region) are actually pretty chill. They have a mostly relaxed temper. I've some acquaintances who herd goats for their family, and Damascus goats are basically easy mode. Very nutritious milk and meat, usually give birth to three or four kids (yes baby goats are called kids) and they're adaptable as hell. And the rangers had to deny them access because a family decided they wanted pictures with the bisons and attempted to put their children on the bisons back. As one can expect, this went terribly wrong as the bisons trampled them and the children passed away. In which the parents then tried to sue the park for having untrained animals in the park. They lost that lawsuit, but I heard they got some compensation for the funerals.

Interesting Leopard Story: I read an article a little while ago about a leopard who'd recently lost her cub, and ended up trying to take care of an infant baboon after killing its parents. (Leopards and baboons are natural rivals. The instinctive hatred goes so deep that baboons will often kidnap and kill leopard cubs to ensure they don't grow up to be threats.) The infant couldn't have been more then a few days old, and was injured in the fight. Poor thing was a goner, and there's no way the leopard couldn't see that, but it didn't stop her from gently carrying it up to a tree to keep it safe from scavengers, and comforting it through the night until its passing. The moral of the story: Mammalian maternal instincts run DEEP, and it isn't just humans who feel that protective urge when we view an infant of any species.
Thanks for your amazingly sweet story and Animals do have compassion and feel empathy ❤ towards other species, sometimes they are better that us human beings. Nature Rocks and so does this guy who narration is fast and to the point. He is definitely one that I will subscribe to.

My wife has a pet Bourbon hen she raised from a baby and she is really smart for a domestic bird .Maybe not as smart as her African Grey Parrot but very few creatures can compete with this Einstein of the animal world but a smart bird for a turkey .It might be because she is a pet and my wife spends a lot of time with her .Wild turkey are quite amazing creatures and never fail to frighten me when roosting up in the old oaks out here when they fly out .We do have some large wild toms come around to check out my wife's pet hen .She is getting her a Bourbon tom for company in a couple of weeks along with some more turkeys .

Omg dude! For 20 years I legit thought someone got turned into a hashtag. Was camping in the mountains in California. We heard that screaming one night and it fully freaked us out. When we ask about it the next day in town locals just laughed at us. I spent the last 20 years thinking we camped on a human sacrifice mountain only to finally learn it was just a female mountain lion in heat. Once you hear that sound in the wild it can never be unheard.
It's a little unnerving to be a city-dweller and then come out into the country and hear an owl snatch up a rabbit, too. Rabbits _shriek._ And that sound will absolutely dead-@$$ wake you up from a sound sleep.
Coyotes are the creepiest thing to hear too. Strangely enough, you get really used to it after 10 years. But seriously, if you want to hear something creepy in the middle of the night look up coyote yips and howls on youtube.
Fun fact: the real reason why Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be the country's mascot was that he saw them fearlessly attack and scare off British soldiers. Also, there is a tribe in Siberia that use Reindeer as their beast of burden, even to the extent of drinking their piss to get high after the animal eats the psychedelic mushroom.
He never actually wanted the turkey to be the country's mascot, and he was mostly criticizing the Society of Cincinnati. Since membership to the Society of Cincinnati was hereditary, he thought they were trying to create a class of nobility. And the society of Cincinnati's mascot was a bald eagle.
The mushroom 🍄 is amanita muscaria and is very toxic unless dried and boiled then can be eaten safely. Be careful though if drinking this magic tea in areas where reindeer live, because they are addicted to this stuff and if you urinate outside they will smell it and trample you to get to it.
Thanks for telling the story of Geronimo the Airborne Beaver. They test-dropped him several times. By the time he was done, he almost was resigned to it. He almost seemed to sigh and then would climb into the box. He was such a good sport, that they air dropped him first in the final operation, along with two ladies of his species. A government idea that actually worked, unlike... you get the idea.
He would never be allowed to actually teach kids this way (unfortunately) they would dumb his message down and remove anything that connects with kids on their own level
Unfortunately, he would not be able to talk like that to his classes and he would have a curriculum to follow. Unless he's teaching zoology (which most schools do not have) he'd have a very different set of things to teach.
You know you have to be careful of that kind of stuff because becoming a teacher can sometimes kind of knock the life out of someone. Being in an environment with rules and shit..
aww, for anyone who doesnt know the second video of the goats is a Lamancha. They do in fact have ears, and theyre completely natural. if you breed a lamancha with a goat with normal ears, you get these little elf ears and theyre so cute!! anyway, im not surprised to see that the goat on the porch is a lamancha. mine used to do it every morning when she wanted to be milked, and would come up to the house when something was wrong, like when another goat was in the road. she was wicked smart, and just an amazing goat to have. its a little creepy to have one on your back porch at night tho lol.
One thing I learned rather fast (I visited a pretty interesting farm last Friday) Is that goats...god they're smart. Like smart to a point it almost impressive and a little scary at the same time.
@@KanekiKen-mu4nu very smart. livestock animals in general are smarter than most people think, but goats especially. but that makes them very fun to be around.
My parents where keeping a goat for a while..... they had a one of those diamond wire fences put up to make sure the dogs wouldn't get to her but it was rainy season and she kept escaping at night. We had no idea why until my dad decided to check the furthest corner of the fence and found out that she would go over there and nudge the bottom out of the soil which was softened because of the rain and slide out from there because for whatever reason she preferred to sleep next to the house. I've absolutely loved being around goats after that bc they're so amazingly intelligent and I love it
I raise dairy goats. Mainly Nigerian Dwarves. But about 1/3rd of our population is mixed. We raised some lamanchas. First one was mine and she lived for about 11 years. We have several of her kids who are mixed dwarf. We started out with 2 alpines first. Our current full breed lamancha is named Ava (after a demon person from the show Supernatural). She did have a sister named Ruby (named after the blonde demon Ruby from supernatural) but she unfortunately passed away at 3 months old. Lamanchas are personally my favorite goats. They have such a laid back but dumb personality. They're also super loud when they baa too. Ava hangs out with one of our great pyrenees dogs because she isn't accepted into the herd yet due to being as bottle baby. But glad to know someone else knows about them! They're kinda the unknown goat breed it seems.

Honestly, Adeli Penguin facts are one of my favorite things to bring up to ruin someone’s day. Of course Orcas, Dolphins, Hippos, and basically all the you-thought-they-were-harmless are on that list as well.
As someone who has hunted wild turkey, they can be very, very stupid but also can outsmart you. I've had them sneak behind me, see me from miles and figure out a decoy in a few seconds. However I've also had them try and breed the decoy, fight the decoy, walk on top of the turkey I just shot instead of running. Nearly touch me before seeing me and come running to a whistle. So, some turkeys are dumb. But some are super smart. The smart ones you don't see, cause you know... they smart.
I've seen the same thing with people. I assure you the "smart ones" are in fact so unimaginably dumb that it works out for them. Naturally you can never analyze a behavior of a specific turkey, but with humans when you question their actual motives of acting a certain way - their justification is unimaginably retarded. So basically their brain is a glorified random action generator and sometimes it works out for them.

Well done. Me and friend had just moved into a new house outside of town. The first night we heard screaming in the backyard late at night that woke us both. It sounded like a woman being brutally murdered. We grabbed some weapons a flashlight and a mop and ran out back to save her. It was Peacock.

Yeah, they're my favorite animal, too, if you couldn't tell lol. I was so pleasantly surprised that he mentioned them as most underrated. I've noticed that almost everyone underestimates them. Even most video games tend to code goats to behave exactly like sheep, and that just feels criminal when you know what goats are actually capable of.
I listen to a lot of creepy and/or interesting r/askreddits. One was asking about animals from the point of view of zoo keepers and other professionals. Its where I learned most keepers see Panda exhibits as a necessary evil as although they generate a lot of income for the zoo, they're really hard to care for. Rhinos on the other hand are very popular with their keepers. If anyone's watched the video of the orphaned juvenile Rhino's making squeaking noises at their Foster mom because its lunch time you can see why. However, there one story from a safari guide on Leopards. He said that of the animals in the safari it was the Leopard that made him nervous. He told the story of a family staying at a lodge with a balcony. Despite being told NOT under any circumstances to sleep out on the balcony they let their teenage daughter do so. The parents come out in the morning to an absolute massacre scene and what little was left of the girl's body was found up a tree not far away.
Some people are still under the impression, that just because you paid for your vacation, you can do whatever you want. Not if there are wild animals around! The poor girl paid the price for her parents mistake.

It was dark so couldn't really see it but still got pretty close ( about 5~4 ft away) and it was slightly backing up while seem like it's wondering what is wrong with me (because I'm trying to call it like it's Fluffy/Fido). As I get closer I realized it is bigger than I thought so I stop advancing and it seem to notice this (there was a pause where neither one of us are moving and I stop making noises). It turns and walks away (which is where I notice it is definitely cat like but way larger than even a maine coon)😨. I've had other incidence of misidentifing coyotes in my area as dogs (I'm not the one whos done it in my area but the fact I haven't been mauled is amazing ). It has gotten to the point that the coyotes are relatively cool (they'll still look at you like you're insane but) as long as you don't get too close and/or try to pet them. I think because some people have fed them, that they're like sure I'll be Fido for a few seconds to get food but no touching
This is the second video of yours I've watched and I am very much impressed! It did take me a while to realize that you were holding a microphone rather than an almost expired lollypop.

If anyone ever questions the fact that educational content made by TH-camrs has become immensely more effective and entertaining than anything on TV, show them this dude's videos. I've always been interested in animals/nature, but this dude hits all the right notes and makes it all seem even more fascinating
The interesting thing about those sea slugs is that they are known to intentionally not sting unless absolutely necessary. They are so dangerous but also very easy to handle as long as you never squeeze them or pester them long enough to make them the you might be worth getting with because they can still kill you with their harpoon it's more of an accident than anything else. I have held them in my hands and depending upon a few things they may have a texture something like that of velvet or mushrooms. Also you can feed them without having any major problems. Lastly they have been known to swim up to people because they want things that live on you like mites and other very small things.
Wow..... That's crazy! If love to see one up close but that's not a ticket I wanna pay for😅 I had no idea they swim up to you too nibble on your mites. That's so cute yet equally terrifying🤣
The Bible says in John 3:16-36 that whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life, the Bible also says in Romans 10:9 that those who declare with their mouth that Jesus Christ is their God, Lord, and Savior they shall be saved. Revelation 1:8 says that Jesus is the alpha and the omega. Luke and revelation is the ending times, and Jesus is returning back. So are you going to submit your life to him or no? Narrow is the path that leads to the gates of heaven, but only few people find it. The gates that is the path to destruction is where many people find it! Jesus loves you SO MUCH! That he died on the cross, and was resurrected from the dead 3 days later to give us eternal life.

I know people think turkeys are stupid. It's true that they have a lot of flocking instincts to keep them together that may be confusing, and sometimes ridiculous for the situation. However, after raising heritage breed turkeys for several years, I can definitely say, they are not stupid. These birds have incredible problem solving skills, communication skills, and amazingly advanced defensive and fighting techniques. I have seen these birds reorganize their environment to suit their purposes. They will stop barnyard fights between other birds when injury or stress are an issue. They can hide their offspring in optimum cover and fly into a back flip to kick a hawk away from their poults. I have seen turkeys take out a feral cat that was killing young birds. They will observe the behavior of the chickens, and if one rooster is problematic (too much fighting, chasing hens down for unwanted breeding, etc.) they will organize a team and hunt down that rooster. I have even been able to start distinguishing the different sounds they make and learn of the complex communication system they have. They get a bad rap for being dumb, but these birds have far more intelligence than most people realize. If you just take the time to observe them, they can and will show you how smart they are.
I won't lie I'm lowkey proud of myself for spotting that leopard in like 1 second. I'm terrible at the "Where's waldo" game and I've been in the Bush and seen them in game reserves and I can say they are fucking difficult to spot
Instinct says spot the danger. When he said "if you haven't already found it, you're dead" that's when instinct kicks into overdrive and you're looking because you don't want to be dead. Brain looks for danger if it knows its there. But if you go into the woods not knowing about those dangers, of course you won't know when to trust your instinct. Always watch the trees and walk slow. I make a to look down, up, and mid all around me, and take my time doing it. Because I live in an area that has snakes, bears and mountain lions. Lol sometimes you get whiplash from looking so much. But it's worth it when it means you won't die or can save you precious moments to pull out a weapon.
@@NelehLove9313 I got slack looking around because I got comfortable exploring the woods behind my house in the winter thinking I was safe. I saw a big cat run right beside me. Must have been a bobcat given its size but could have been a lynx. Least to say even if you know the area keep up with looking at your surroundings.

mimicking sounds seems to be quite common in the feline kingdom, after all it's well documented that they change their vocal pitch and even patterns around humans. Except for my cat Luna she's a massive mute the size of a scotty dog that makes no noise other than purring. Until the neighbouring cats visit that is and she just sits the squeaking like a pissed off dog toy.
My cats ask "why" and say "no!" and call for "mama!" Lol But once, I had an entire conversation with my mum's cat. He asked where she was, I told him she wasn't home, he asked why not, I told him she was at work, he asked when she'd be back, I told him in a few hours. He stared at me silently for a second then turned around and went back to her room. 😂 One and only time I've understood more than just the tone of a cat's voice and the rhythm of meows. 😂
The cia has a history of doing trying really weird stuff to see what works, most often as weapons. Anything from weaponizing dolphins to literally attempting to use magic. Also fun fact: like in the turkey clip, ants are known to sometimes also form circles of “follow the leader but no one is the leader” and can occasionally do so until it kills them
@@Mr.Classic91 I wouldn’t put it past them for thinking it but even the CIA has enough restraint to not use something they couldn’t possibly hope to control. They may be overzealous but they aren’t entirely stupid. The problems they make are things like Al Qaeda, the Vietnam war, or drug epidemics, not viruses
@@Mr.Classic91 I also have no desire to feed into what sounds like a burgeoning conspiracy theory because of your specificity of saying virus. That said, I do believe they wouldn’t touch something they could never hope to control

Yet you still refuse to see intelligent design in creation.. because I take it that you too believe in evolution like the majority of the masses?
I thought it just ment small things that are brightly colored are usually poisons and most species of animals recognize that so it doesn't need to hide. Seemed pretty straightforward to me.
@@John-dd8kh how is it intelligent design if it was just animals surviving more often with certain traits than with other ones? If an animal lived longer and produced more offspring with bright colors than an animal with dull colors, then the dull colored animals will eventually die out slowly. No mystery there, just evolution. It’s already been observed by humans in both laboratories and in nature.

At 0:00 I thought it was a small horse that only had it's snout left for it's head.

Lol

Interesting Leopard Story:
I read an article a little while ago about a leopard who'd recently lost her cub, and ended up trying to take care of an infant baboon after killing its parents. (Leopards and baboons are natural rivals. The instinctive hatred goes so deep that baboons will often kidnap and kill leopard cubs to ensure they don't grow up to be threats.)
The infant couldn't have been more then a few days old, and was injured in the fight.

So true we have a lot of them on our rural land down here in Alabama .They are making a great comeback in our area thanks to feral hog trapping and hunting along with the other native species .My wife has converted our land to wildlife habitats out here and loves to see the babies .Not all domestic turkeys are dumb .

@@alexisgrunden1556 Yes! ⬆️ This Alexis ⬆️ 🤣

@@ghostsuru8429 Dead ass for sure. Moose in heat sound like someone out in the woods doing a rub off too. 🤣

Yo I swear to god. It’s how calm like you are and you delivery with your punch lines. I freaking love it
Thanks for telling the story of Geronimo the Airborne Beaver. They test-dropped him several times. By the time he was done, he almost was resigned to it. He almost seemed to sigh and then would climb into the box. He was such a good sport, that they air dropped him first in the final operation, along with two ladies of his species. A government idea that actually worked, unlike... you get the idea.
So he got laid after the end of the mission? Good ending?

This guy needs to become a school teacher. He'd revolutionize the education system single handedly. Kids would pay attention to him in class 👏👏
Being a school teacher slow the teaching process and he couldn't teach us grown-ups. Plus is a low salary. He deserves better!

One thing I learned rather fast (I visited a pretty interesting farm last Friday)
Is that goats...god they're smart.
@@marcfilms999 how cool, we also had alpines, and a nigerian dwarf named Earnest, and the lamancha was my favorite. we also named some of our lambs after supernatural characters, rowena, amara, and castiel!

The smart ones you don't see, cause you know... they smart.
So like chickens.

Bison were pretty much extinct or considered near to when I was young (not that long ago). I'd love to learn more about the restoration programme
Edit: So it turns out the first vision was released back in '93 and by the time I was 8 learning about them it was mainly only 3 people (native American) in a group of 50 dedicated to specifically bringing back the bison.
Real numbers weren't seen as until about 2008. Now there's more groups on board specifically with the native Americans reverance of this creature in mind. Better yet, they talk to each other. In 30 years a quarter of not a 3rd of original herd sizes may be seen

I raised lamancha goats for years in my 4-H days. I miss it. They are such wonderful animals.

12:25 I actually believe I encountered a cougar once (considering that a sight was noted in my area at the time) because it was cat like but about the size of a large-medium dog.
I'm watching this on my phone, so I could see that something was different but it really didn't look like anything more than a large spiderweb.
I saw it instantly but I'm still highkey impressed. If you were just wandering through the wild you probably wouldn't notice anything wrong.
"...you too can get elevated and hella faded"
I have spent the last bloody hour of my life binging on this guy's videos and *_my stomach and jaw are in LITERAL PHYSICAL PAIN from laughing so much and so hard_*.
mimicking sounds seems to be quite common in the feline kingdom, after all it's well documented that they change their vocal pitch and even patterns around humans.
@@stiaininbeglan3844 Incredible, and yet Believable!!!
😂😂😂😂😂
Hilarious!!!
my tiny girl is a ghost until you go near food, she’ll appear and squeak a little
Leopards are among my favorite cats. Their agility and hunting skill is amazing.
“His existence looks like pain” had me CACKLING
"Here's a story about how 76 beavers where parachuted into Idaho" That's the most American sentence I've heard in a while.
Or the alternate beginning intro to Beaverly Hillbillies
It only cost $7/beaver, which in today's dollars is 46mil and 23 cents.
@@therealunicornselene actually only about $7600
The last damn quote. "Basically getting R. Kelly'd by a reindeer will have you thinking you can fly as well." I can't stop laughing.
Dude, keep them coming! I love and enjoy your vids. 👏👏👏
“If you answer that call and it’s not for you, you’re gonna be meeting Batman’s parents” 😂😂 always kills me with the way he describes things
I've learned more about animals watching him then in school or national geographic.😊
Same
Same here 🙋🏽♀️
Fr. My school doesn’t even teach anything about the animal kingdom 💀
How the fuck he know you get higher than snoop when you drink a high deer with horns piss?
Period
"And one even hooked up with the ground... *to completion"*
That raises so many questions, many of which I wish were never raised.
Dude, I love your videos! Keep up the great work man and your swearing is fiiiiine.
These videos are why I'm studying zoology. I love your content and always get excited for a new video. Have a happy New Year and a better 2022.
The cia has a history of doing trying really weird stuff to see what works, most often as weapons. Anything from weaponizing dolphins to literally attempting to use magic.
Also fun fact: like in the turkey clip, ants are known to sometimes also form circles of “follow the leader but no one is the leader” and can occasionally do so until it kills them
Kind of like ant mills/death spirals
What about viruses?
@@Mr.Classic91 I wouldn’t put it past them for thinking it but even the CIA has enough restraint to not use something they couldn’t possibly hope to control. They may be overzealous but they aren’t entirely stupid. The problems they make are things like Al Qaeda, the Vietnam war, or drug epidemics, not viruses
@@agrimmon it's convenient that somehow, biochemical espionage wouldn't be in their wheelhouse
@@Mr.Classic91 I also have no desire to feed into what sounds like a burgeoning conspiracy theory because of your specificity of saying virus. That said, I do believe they wouldn’t touch something they could never hope to control
13:02 "... it's just cougar's getting more action than you." That hurt, dude. That really hurt.
I love this guy's commentary and his delivery is spot on.
You are as fascinating as the animals you bring to the viewers attention. Just subscribed....can't believe I have never come across you before and I am so pleased I did.
You, Sir, just popped up in my TH-cam feed. When I was a kid, my life's dream was to become a zoologist, so I know enough about animals to appreciate the facts you're spitting. I also have a good enough sense of humor to appreciate your delivery. Great video! You now have a new subscriber.

"We played God with goats, and now we got Barnyard and Dark Souls and I don't like it"
This is simply golden. I laughed way too hard
There are very few TH-camrs I follow seriously. And, you’re one of them.
