Me, too. It reminds me of a designer in the 60/70''s - Vera (not Vera Wang) whose fabrics and paintings looked like that. I used to do little paintings inspired by her motifs and they were always big sellers at art shows.
Erin you've created a beautiful little place. Yes to screening in the porch, yes to a calm interior and yes to the crazy papered bathroom.

I love that they're preserving the character of these homes rather than tearing out all the walls, laying cheap vinyl flooring, making 'open concept', boring gray tile, cookie cutter, flip-house design
After the whole segment about picking a color for the stove...and we don't even get to see the blue stove in the kitchen? That sucks.

I love the paintings they choose for these homes. They never look like the cheesy, mass produced Bed Bath and Beyond art you see in so many renos.

the small houses and cottages are my favorite too. They know how to make a house look like a million bucks on a budget. So many great ideas.

I like how the tongue and groove wall looks, but bugs could play hide and seek in there so that wouldn't work for me. The walkway to the front door is small and turns, I'd rather have it wider and straight. She's gonna have fun there, though. Nice overall.

Yeah, they blew right by it to get to the bathroom. I really wanted to see her reaction to the range.

Problem with this show , and it's a Major Problem , is that this show is in Mississippi .
Mississippi is the biggest shithole of a state in the United States.
Mississippi is the poorest state and in terms of Infrastructure ,Healthcare, education it ranks at rock bottom .

I'm Australian and have never heard anything nice about Mississipi BUT on learning more about this show, I heard when Ben and Erin were approached to do it, they insisted it be based in Laurel as a way of highlighting their home town and promoting their community. I've noticed they used products and goods that are made in Mississipi and they bring in aspects of their local culture as well as their state's history as often as possible. So as much as e everything you said is true, these two are doing what they can to bring change to their home town. I've been binge watching the show for about a week now and can see house prices are going up in the more recent episodes compared to the earlier seasons, meaning the economy is improving in Laurel. One of the segments I watched about the show said the popularity of Home Town has lead to an increase in tourism for Laurel which in turn encourages trade and business to grow. The show itself is attracting people to the area because the sense of commradrie and the southern charm of the houses renovated by Ben and Erin is very appealing (hence the shows popularity). It looks like the show is reaching Ben and Erin's goal's on several levels. I'm happy for them, happy for the people of Laurel and happy for those of us who enjoy the show 😊
