Ah, Endeavor. One of, if not the most divisive character in MHA. I look forward to Montana’s psychoanalysis of him over the seasons 😌 But for now, we must wait. His character development will begin in due time
One bit of credit this series definitely deserves is that no matter how much we get to know Endeavor and what development he goes through it NEVER lets us forget what he put his family through. It does not take the easy way out with him. In season 6, after a pretty major arc, when Endeavor's arguably at the most sympathetic he's ever been, that's when the story chose to show a flashback to the scariest he has ever looked.

OH MY GOD BRAIN BLAST! The parallel with the title “The Boy born with everything.” Todoroki was born with one of the most powerful quirks of his (and maybe future) generations, but he lacked what all children wanted/had; a happy family. Midoriya on the other hand had the most loving mother who helped and supported him with anything and everything in his life, including what he does in UA and she supports his decisions in the school. But he was born without a quirk, the one thing he wanted most in this world. So while Todoroki wanted a happy family but had a strong quirk, Midoriya had no quirk of his own but instead got a loving and supporting mother. The parallels are crazy
the foam sword fighting would have been super fun as I bet they were allowed to alter and manipulate the foam sword using their quirk ; and depending on the rules I imagine it was a touch = point system kinda like fencing so there would have been a more creative display of quirks and stratigic thinking.

Yes I’ve been waiting for this one! Knowing how good Montana is at psychoanalysis I was excited to see how she reacted to Todoroki’s tragic past. This arc cemented him as my favorite character-why must my favorites be scarred fire boys who have shitty dads? Odd that that’s happened twice.
Competition is a good thing making people strives to be better, but always are there people that ruin it by being obsessed with be THE best, and that sucks, but its not because the system is bad, is because THAT person is wrong.
I always try to point the meaning for the word "hero" is really different in this universe, hero on bnha is a profesion work related not a description for a person, Endeavor is the perfect example for a great hero but terrible person at the same time and in this world that makes perfect sense
I think Montana's statement about competition and striving to be the best is kind of apples and oranges. Ones own ambition and motivation is extremely different from how a person react to positive or negative reinforcement. Also it's very different from person to person how they take in that reinforcement. Some people take the negative reinforcement and use it as fuel to motivate them, other break down. The same with positive reinforcement for some it works wonders for others it demotivates them.
I feel like what’s missing in her analysis is an assumption that striving to be the best is synonymous with obsession to be the best. Being third best for a lot of people would still get them a great deal of joy as it shows them approaching that goal. While it is technically a zero sum game, as long as they enjoy the journey, there’s more to be gained than just victory
This episode kinda just fires off on all cylinders with backstory, so I’ll just dive in the same. It saddens me greatly to see Todoroki see so many situations treated like his own…even if the sad thing is that it’s FAR more likely than Deku being any semblance of Deku quite literally being the chosen one of a light god power. (Kinda puts it in perspective in the real world some chosen one appearing just would NOT happen) But the accusation had me ROLLING. And of course it makes sense he was so hyper aware of Deku using his quirk. The moment he was the target, he FREAKED OUT. Bakugo acted similarly in training. When Bakugo not just saw the power but what it did, and it clicks THAT was mere INCHES from his body and could’ve been lethal force INSTANTLY if he aimed wrong. But because of his circumstance with Endeavor, I guess it’s not a stretch for All-Might to not be some perfect icon himself. And I love it leads into Todoroki realizing although there might not be blood relation, there IS connection. Purely because poor Deku is not exactly one to hide his feelings. Now we have All-Might and Endeavor. And of the two conversations, it’s weird to say it, but THIS was the one I was more excited to come back to with present info. All-Might knows Todoroki is trained by Endeavor and is standing as what is perceived to be the strongest person in his grade. And the politics of these two is SO good. Neither are saying what is truly on their minds here. All-Might we can figure out. He is DESPERATE when it comes to his disciple. Todoroki is managing a similar scale of power to Deku as of this juncture, but Todoroki has a WILD amount of control over Deku who can BARELY pull together an INSTANT of control causing mass panic attacks as he goes. Getting insight from Endeavor is a good thing for all 40 kids in the hero course. And All-Might teaches BOTH classes. Endeavor is NOT so forthcoming. But let’s a LOT slip not of what he taught…but what he does for his ambition. And that small line of “that kid of mine will take your place.” says SO MUCH in one little sentence. And I love this conversation even more now. Can’t say why until more info is relevant. And I’ll just say they never even say it outright. Todoroki pulls the pin on his past. And we see what he competes for. Todoroki understands his dad’s ambition. If I can’t be 1st, I’ll prove my bloodline will. and Todoroki’s rejection of fire is basically saying I’ll prove MOM’S bloodline can. Not yours. And the intricacy of quirk marriages in this world I can only compare to a royal bloodline. (Except a LOT less overlap here.) It’s to maintain and strengthen bloodlines for greater prestige. And it’s STILL weird a royal chooses outside. (I think Prince Harry was the one who did that.) And I love as it shows all these kids living their lives normally…while Todoroki basically CAN’T live a normal life. And…here’s where I drop the ball on Todoroki. Todoroki is a genius, with INCREDIBLE mental and physical fortitude…but he’s an emotional DUNCE. (Guess something other than fire runs in the family) His plan to show his father a rejection of ideals has a few holes here. He wants to be the best, is proving himself to be the best currently. Taking his father’s career path. And he overlooked two things. Why is he pursuing this when it’s his dad’s ambition to be the best? And even if he was forced here why does that entitle any effort at all? And he says this to surpass a person he honestly has no reason to surpass himself. And Deku states that he’ll be aiming for the top despite all he’s heard…because as much as Todoroki thinks it changes everything…it changes nothing. And that’s not a flaw, it’s on purpose. But both Bakugo and Deku are deeply unsettled nonetheless. Deku declares war with a much more humbled goal, but it makes MUCH more emotional sense with the willpower to match. And I can NEVER get enough of Deku turning around and showing his ambition right back. And BAKUGO walks away with more info. Not of what Todoroki said about his past…but of what Todoroki observes of Deku. Bakugo stands as the only person in the student cast that is aware Deku was quirkless. And any hint this guy can get a whiff of is dangerous even if he’s often too blind of Deku as a human being. I’m just going to keep reminding people that things are currently on National Television as Mineta just HUMILIATES the poor girls of Class A. You can even see some Class B girls visibly thinking “oh no” as they walk in. And other people sadly eyeing up the girls in the cafeteria. This is one of the moments even I can’t REMOTELY defend Mineta. I don’t hate his character, but MAN when he’s a piece of crap BOY do they make him that. I know Horikoshi WANTS us to hate him because of his high school years, but WOW am I glad it didn’t make headlines. Thankfully they just owned it and just made the most of it. So national humiliation bullet dodged. Oh don’t worry here’s some good news. Apparently there’s an executioner going to UA. He’s got the medieval mask on in the corner. Now I feel MUCH better. We do also have Ojiro and the Class B Vice Rep. They both throw it in the towel because they didn’t get to demonstrate themselves on their merits. And it’s a BIG move to do it this way…but I LOVE the double meaning here. Now that we have gotten to the final 16 players in the tournament, we see who is left. They know who is left. Both of them do too. And I’ll assure this. If either decided NOT to do this, they would’ve been curb stomped fodder and the Calvary battle was their last opportunity to show their worth considering their competition. This was their only way to mitigate the damage without causing a spiral downward. This probably causes more positive publicity this way by intentionally making the competition have more to it. And the rest of Class B follows suit and simply pick the best competitors they had from the 2 rounds. And neither recommendations student were picked too since they already have an extra edge the others don’t. And it’s not Monoma who is a jerk. (Glad Kendo just uses him in the scavenger hunt as perverse. He deserved it) I will NEVER get over Deku talking about those in the tournament doing their preparations and showing Bakugo “hyping himself up.” I needed to drop the final bit here on All-Might and Deku. And it’s so casual, but I assure you of the conversations, THIS one actually just gave us the most importance. All-Might told Deku he is using 5%. Not controlling. USING. We aren’t talking about the cobbled together control Deku used TWICE and All-Might only witnessed ONE of those with nothing to compare. The one that’s had his full attention is Deku’s 100% because IT FRIES HIS ARM OFF. All-Might in ONE SENTENCE just told us how strong OFA is. Deku’s 100%…is 5% of All-Might. THAT is what he just said. And considering All-Might still outclasses Deku…that’s not 5% of PRIME, that’s 5% of INJURED All-Might. You can now ACTUALLY do the math on OFA’s power and what Deku will eventually obtain and surpass. So here’s the ACTUAL numbers. Deku’s max: 100% Injured All-Might’s max: 2,000% Prime All-Might’s max: 120,000% You can now gauge Deku’s speeds, and power feats when he busts his arm and All-Might can go 20 TIMES bigger, and 6 years ago…he could go 1,200 TIMES bigger. (Or since All-Might can move Mach 30 NOW, Deku’s 100 is Mach 1.5, and All-Might’s best is LITERALLY over 1 million mph at an astonishing Mach 1800 and to sell THAT, 0.002% of the speed of LIGHT. A comprehensible fraction of a percent of LIGHT SPEED) OFA is BUSTED. What a way to just DROP that info. Don’t tell Todoroki and Bakugo, but THAT is what they are unintentionally or intentionally competing with. To All-Might’s credit, he’s saying this because he wants Deku to understand you can do THIS MUCH ALREADY, you’re only going to get better, stop beating yourself up, the only way to go is forward. And your effort means INFINITELY more than your luck. Again, total Dad speech. Oh and Shinso may have just one shot Deku on National TV while he stood up for his classmate right after. In case you’re paying attention. This guy has been literally sitting on people this whole tournament, and it appears Deku just became the next one...despite being WARNED. We’ll have to get into THAT next time.
There is actually a very high possibility that there will be 8 seasons, because there's already enough chapters for season 7 but the manga is still ongoing. Season 8 will probably be a short season, like season 1.
10:14 I don't really agree with Montana on this one. I don't believe Todoroki is mature for absolving his mother, I think he sees her actions as justified because he believes her to be right. He is deeply ashamed of his own existence.
I think it's less shame about his *existence* as a whole and more about his resentment of Endeavor bleeding into resentment of what reminds others that he is Endeavor's son. For example: he fully embraces and wants to show off the part of his quirk that he inherited from his mother. While I wouldn't call it maturity per se, especially at this point in the Todoroki family storyline, I do think Montana has a point that Shouto's perspective on his mother's actions is rather sharp given his age and hang-ups. He correctly identified Endeavor as the problem and absolved his mother from her actions during a psychological breakdown
Quirk Marriage seems like something your brain will evolve into eventually as instead of finding mates by looks (indicating better genetics in most cases) it will seek out desirable quirks for human evolution. Ethics is a human concept. Evolution has has existed as long as life. Evolution will always win.
9 months late but I kind of disagree. Ethics exist in nature, to some degree. At least among families in nature they usually consider it unethical to kill your own, loyalty does exist. Now obviously this differs amongst species, like praying mantis females biting off the their mates head. For humans, we have our own biological programming, but how powerful our morality and ethics are is what differs us from animals. We aren’t bound to “evolution” like many animals could be as we as humans can choose to evolve and adapt in our own ways. But… you are also kind of right, I think quirks would be something that affects people mentally when looking for mates, with some quirks being considered more attractive than others, like a fire being attracted to an ice quirk (through in endeavours case, it wasn’t about physical attraction rather than the quirk itself) sorry for rambling, these were just my thoughts

AM being Izuku's secret father would have been a good rumor to have started to throw off speculation.

Deku’s max: 100% Injured All-Might’s max: 2,000% Prime All-Might’s max: 120,000% You can now gauge Deku’s speeds, and power feats when he busts his arm and All-Might can go 20 TIMES bigger, and 6 years ago…he could go 1,200 TIMES bigger. (Or since All-Might can move Mach 30 NOW, Deku’s 100 is Mach 1.5, and All-Might’s best is LITERALLY over 1 million mph at an astonishing Mach 1800 and to sell THAT, 0.002% of the speed of LIGHT. A comprehensible fraction of a percent of LIGHT SPEED) OFA is BUSTED. What a way to just DROP that info. Don’t tell Todoroki and Bakugo, but THAT is what they are unintentionally or intentionally competing with. To All-Might’s credit, he’s saying this because he wants Deku to understand you can do THIS MUCH ALREADY, you’re only going to get better, stop beating yourself up, the only way to go is forward. And your effort means INFINITELY more than your luck. Again, total Dad speech.

10:14 I don't really agree with Montana on this one. I don't believe Todoroki is mature for absolving his mother, I think he sees her actions as justified because he believes her to be right. He is deeply ashamed of his own existence.
I think it's less shame about his *existence* as a whole and more about his resentment of Endeavor bleeding into resentment of what reminds others that he is Endeavor's son. For example: he fully embraces and wants to show off the part of his quirk that he inherited from his mother. While I wouldn't call it maturity per se, especially at this point in the Todoroki family storyline, I do think Montana has a point that Shouto's perspective on his mother's actions is rather sharp given his age and hang-ups. He correctly identified Endeavor as the problem and absolved his mother from her actions during a psychological breakdown

Quirk Marriage seems like something your brain will evolve into eventually as instead of finding mates by looks (indicating better genetics in most cases) it will seek out desirable quirks for human evolution. Ethics is a human concept. Evolution has has existed as long as life. Evolution will always win.
9 months late but I kind of disagree. Ethics exist in nature, to some degree. At least among families in nature they usually consider it unethical to kill your own, loyalty does exist. Now obviously this differs amongst species, like praying mantis females biting off the their mates head. For humans, we have our own biological programming, but how powerful our morality and ethics are is what differs us from animals. We aren’t bound to “evolution” like many animals could be as we as humans can choose to evolve and adapt in our own ways. But… you are also kind of right, I think quirks would be something that affects people mentally when looking for mates, with some quirks being considered more attractive than others, like a fire being attracted to an ice quirk (through in endeavours case, it wasn’t about physical attraction rather than the quirk itself) sorry for rambling, these were just my thoughts
