    Great video Matt! People ask me all the time why I’m so organized with my clothing and things around my house. This is exactly why.. it makes it easier for me. Great explanation and thanks for sharing this. Hope you guys are having a wonderful day.

      Hi David! It is interesting, as you read through a lot of the comments not only on this video, but other video similar to this on my channel, there’s one similar theme among many of us in this community, many of us are very organized and put everything back exactly where it was. It is very important to all of us to put things back exactly as they were in there specific place, because that is how we know where they are at all times. I think staying organized is the key to making our lives so much easier as people who are blind or visually impaired. Thanks again David! I hope you’re having a wonderful Thursday as well :-) mad

    Everything has it's own place and it gets put back in it's own place. I'm still trying to get my kids to put stuff away in the right place... especially when it comes to their Dad's tools. I don't know that I'll ever win that battle! I've started on my grandkids! You don't put your toys away in it's right place, it disappears for a while or maybe forever (depending on what it is).Thank you so much for the shout out! I'm going to blow your mind now, Hough, rhymes with rough and tough. Nobody gets it right, its a big clue it's time to hang up when I answer the phone with all of the different pronunciations I hear.

      Hi, you know what, I knew I was going to pronounce your name wrong, but I figured you would still know it was you. I apologize, people often do the same thing with my last name, I think in the history of my life, only one person has ever said it right the first time. I’m OK with that, it gives me some privacy because nobody knows how to say or even spell my last name. LOL. It is tough when people don’t put things back exactly where they belong, it makes it very difficult as people who are blind or visually impaired to find our belongings once again. I am still training Corey to put things back where they belong. LOL I like her with the grandkids you take something away for a short time, or possibly forever if they do not put it back where it belongs. Thanks so much for watching this. Matt

    My closet and drawers are very organized as well. It helps to put things in the same place all the time. My closet has rod dividers and they separate each color. I also put tiny safety pins in the seams of my clothes to identify colors. Blacck = outer right shoulder, White = inner right shoulder, Blue = inner left shoulder, and so on. This really helps when I have the same style of shirt in different colors. Otherwise, a lot of my clothes I can tell by feel too. Keep up the great videos! :) xx

      Hi! That is so cool how you organize your closet. I love it! Organizing buy clothes and using different tactile features like safety pins to help identify clothes that are the same style, but very in color. I love it! Thank you so much for watching this video and for reaching out with the comment, I always enjoy hearing how other people organize their closets. I hope all is well with you, see you again in the next video tomorrow :-) XX Matt

    Hi Matt and Cory! Love that you did this video. Lots of people ask me how to do this without relying on vision. And oddly enough cleaning and organizing clothes was one of the 1st things I struggled with the most in 2011 when I first started having prolonged eye issues. I took a clothes course at Hadley Institute for the Blind or Visually Impaired online/mail. It is in expensive/free ish and they have free audio video explinations online. I organize the same way through memory much like you do. But for my dresses I want to use braille stickers so I feel confindent that I put the right stuff together for special occasions. A braille labeler is real cheap. And once you learn the braille alphabet, it is just a matter of labeling and sticking to a clothing tag. Or attach to garment by paper clip. But, doesn't have to be for all clothes. Otherwise for everyday, I use touch and memory and my washer and dryer are adapted with cheap tactile bumb stickers to feel the settings. And I buy cheap stain spray, cause obviously it is tricky to see dirt stains when I am alone. So I just spray the heck out if the entire T Shirt lol. Thank goodness for the dollar store. 😅

    • @BlindtoBillionaire
      @BlindtoBillionaire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Katie! I’m glad that you were able to take some classes and learn different techniques on how to organize and label your clothing and have a system that works best for you when it comes time to retrieve them or when they come out of the washer and dryer. It is nice to know that you use our braille labeler to mark some of your dresses and other pieces of clothing so that you know exactly which ones they are when it comes time to wear them. It makes me happy to hear that this was previously a struggle for you, but yet you found the resources you needed to help you refine your system so that it works for you. That is great to hear! As for stains on your shirts, they can definitely be a tough one as we cannot see them, but I like your idea of just spraying the shirt and calling it good. LOL. Have a great Friday, see you soon :-) Matt

    What’s up my friend? Another great video. I am truly amazed how you identify your shirts. Somethings I can’t identify, but shirts are not one. All of my T-shirts feel exactly the same. You are so correct. Organization is the key. I am feeling a lot better now. Now all I have to do is just sleep all night. Here lately I’ve been waking up about 3:30 in the morning and just staying up. So now I am a different kind of tired. LOL keep up the good work never disappointed. Enjoying your videos. I wanted to share a tip I use for socks. I use the little sock organizers to keep the pairs together through the washer and dryer. It saves a lot of time looking for stragglers. I thinnk you can find these on Amazon if you search for sock organizers. You just have to get in the habit of putting the discs around the socks before throwing them in the hamper.

    This made me think about my previous closet arrangement. I shuffled it up a bit trying to move in a hurry in March 2018. More water disasters happened and I had to move everything asap out of the new closet shuffling it all yet again. I just got all the hanging stuff back in with a different diameter of water heater sharing the space. I have it in right major categories, but I haven't gone through and rainbow ordered the colors and saturation of each subdivision again yet.

    This is a great video Matt. It just goes to show that it doesn’t matter that you have severe loss of vision, you can still look really good and really stylish. I think many people who do not know about vision loss believe that, Without your eyes, you really can’t dress yourself. I mean that with all sincerity. Many people believe that there is no way other than vision to identify clothing or it’s orientation or anything else about it. When I tell people that tags are usually in the back or on the left-hand same or that the rise is longer in the back then in the front for trousers and pants or that buttons and buttonholes are tactile so, without vision you still can button, zip and snap, They usually react with astonishment. If you are a parent, these are usually things that you have taught your child in a step by step order so they can eventually dress themselves independently. It is no different for a blind child that it is forone with vision. When you were describing your work out T-shirts, the raw theme or edge, I can identify with that as well since it is almost like the shirt is inside out. I have several shirts like that and I know that I must pay special attention to make sure that the tags are on the inside and that the image or print design is on the outside so that I am wearing it with the correct orientation. I also use puff paint. This is usually found at the craft store and my husband will actually label some of my clothing with print letters like why for yellow are for red or G for Green. Puff paint can be used to Mark clothing with braille dots and it does not wash off. I I am not a proficient braille user so my husband marks many of my clothes with a script or printed letter so that I can identify different blouses and shirts and pants and yes even socks. I can now match all of our socks because he will mark the top band with a puff paint dot or double dot or any pattern at all, if two patterns are identical, I know the socks match. So many of us are at home during the day and therefore are responsible and are certainly capable of taking care of all of the household laundry needs. You have just shown that it does not require vision, for someone to be able to not only wash and launder clothing but also fold, organize and identify clothing with out functional vision. Thanks so much for showing us how it can be done with great success. Have a wonderful weekend and I will be looking forward to your upcoming videos, especially as you are traveling and on holiday. Love, Beverly

    • @BlindtoBillionaire
      @BlindtoBillionaire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Beverly! This is an awesome comment, I love the fact that your husband helps distinguish your clothing by marking it with puff paint, I love that idea! It is so simple to identify close based on their texture, fabric, seems, placement of tags, or little nuances about each piece. It is funny that you say sighted people react with astonishment when you tell them that we can still dress ourselves as blind people. LOL, it sounds so ridiculous, but yet it is very true, I have also witnessed this situation. That is why all of us here on TH-cam, creators with channels need to continue producing videos to help educate and relieve some of the ignorance in the world revolving around Blind is in visual impairment. Thank you Beverly, I wish you a very nice Friday and weekend! I always enjoy your videos as well, you are such a great person and you inspire me so much :-) talk to you again soon, love, Matt

And I find as I'm emptying the dryer and trying to hold things and put them away it takes me awhile to get familiar with the texture and figure out which shirt that actually have in my hand. This was really cool to hear someone else’s view on how they organize clothes as a blind person. I organize my shirts by color which I use the remaining vision I have for but if I feel I’m not correct i use TapTapSee, be my eyes or ask someone. I do hang them up. I know a lot of people like to use braille tags on their clothing to help them identify, but I have never learned it and realistically, I would be able to identify the piece of clothing just based on the fabric and the small nuances that I mentioned before I would even be able to find the braille take anyway. LOL. Have a wonderful Friday, talk to you again soon. Matt

    Hey Matt and Corey! I need to develop a system better than my non system. 🤣 My vision has deteriorated to the point where most of my clothes look like the same color. I don’t wear bright colors, usually. I can tell by feel, but I don’t buy new clothes often. My color identifier is temperamental. If I have overheard lighting, it gets thrown off big time.
    But, I do have my clothes arranged by type and size, as my weight fluctuates.

      @lesliebailiff7738 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Darque- have you used the Seeing AI App. It has a great color ID. And it has a lot of other features in it. It is not a stand alone.

      LOL, I love it, you need to refine your technique, your lack of technique. LOL. That is awesome. I’m glad that you categorize and organize your clothes so that it is a little bit easier for you. It’s also nice that you don’t buy new clothes all that often, that just makes it a little bit more difficult with all those extra pieces in your closet or your dresser. I find the easiest way is just to stay very organized. Have a specific place for each type of clothing then it narrows down the stack and makes it easier to identify when it comes time to choose one to wear. I hope that is helpful in some respect. LOL. Matt

    HEY MATT.
    AWESOME VIDEO!!!! IT IS AMAZING HOW EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT WAY TO IDENTIFY THEIR CLOTHING. I KNOW SOME THAT WILL PUT LIKE BRAILLE ON THE TAG OR SLEEVE TO IDENTIFY THE PIECE OF CLOTHING. I GOTTA ASK, THOUGH, HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO IDENTIFY CORY'S CLOTHINg WHEN YOU DO THE WASH?
    THANKS AGAIN FOR ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO!!!! ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD AND COUNT THE DAYS WHEN ANOTHER VIDEO COMES!!! SENDING YOU GREAT BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG HUGS LOL WITH LOTS OF LOVE!!!
    I AM CURIOUS ABOUT HOW AND WHEN YOU BEGIN YOUR CANE TRAINING?

    • @BlindtoBillionaire
      @BlindtoBillionaire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Stephen! Thank you, yeah this is just my system for identifying my clothes right now. LOL, the weather identify Corey‘s clothes is that I know they are not mine. LOL, I am not sure exactly which piece they are, but all that I know when I pull it out of the dryer is that it is not my clothes, so it must be hers. LOL. I hope that answers your question. Have a wonderful weekend, see you again very soon. Matt

    I hav some vision so I don’t have quite as many categories as you yet. My problem is that I have too many clothes. I try to clean them out but don’t ever seem to get it done good enough. And by the way, your “M” shoud stand for Missouri or MIzzou, not Mennesota!

    • @BlindtoBillionaire
      @BlindtoBillionaire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Scott, LOL, it sounds to me like you need to focus when cleaning out your closet or dresser, it is easy to go through them with the intentions of getting rid of a lot of clothes, then ultimately only getting rid of a couple pieces. LOL. I have been guilty of that a couple times as well. I’m glad that you still have more residual vision that allows you to still see in your clothing rather than having as many categories as me. But this is just what works for me right now. Thanks again Scott, I hope you have an awesome Friday and weekend! See you again very soon. Matt
