    Matt, this is so funny that you posted this today. I am struggling with this right now myself, was doing eBay and for the most part can do almost all of it myself, the only thing I cannot do is post new ads. Thank you for the encouragement, and the ideas and I have done a lot of the steps that you have suggested, it does work. I actually worked for 24 years, and unfortunately I’m now on disability. But as you know you cannot survive on disability, I also have owned rental properties in the past, but unfortunately cannot get a loan now to buy another one. Thank you and keep up the good work

      Hi, I’m glad that this video was brought to you at the right time. Hopefully this video helps you I think of some new ideas and concepts to possibly help you with some creative ideas to generate some income. You mentioned that you have a hard time with new ads, do you use a smart phone with some type of voiceover or talkback technology? Are use my iPhone strictly on voiceover and I’m able to create all of the ads independently just using voiceover, it takes me a little while, but I can still do it. I hope this is helpful once again! I like this comment and I pinned it, congratulations! Matt

      Hi Shawn, that is unfortunate you had to give up your job as a nurse because if your vision, but who knows, maybe this is the opportunity to go out and do something on your own. Have you ever thought about or considered possibly being a PCA, or in-home nurse? Anyway, those are just some thoughts. Thank you so much for watching this, I’m glad you enjoy the content :-) see you again soon. Matt

    I'm registered blind and decided 3 years ago to get into teaching in supported learning. It's hard work, but already leading to new opportunities.
    I got into teaching to show others with disabilities that you should try and be the best you possible. You will have set backs, but they should be looked at as character building not deterants.

    Unfortunately our society still far from really understanding the potential of visually impaired people as a worker or contributor to the society. That’s way more than 70% of blind or visually impaired people do not have a job, not because the lack of formal education but because of the difficulties we have convincing employers that we are good on what we do. Fortunately for other they have been able to be creative and establish their own businesses. Matt, you mention a lot of good ideas and your words of encouragements are going to help a lot of people. Hi, I completely agree, it is sad that society as a whole is so ignorant about blindness and visual impairment. That is why all of us need to have these communities and TH-cam channels to continue to educate and raise awareness about blindness and visual impairment so that people actually realize what we are capable of doing. You wouldn’t believe how many people approach me when my dad and I do these jobs and say things like, I can’t believe you do this, I am so impressed by you. Hello Matt! Today we had our volunteer luncheon ceremony. Now I haven't been there long enough to gain enough hours for an award/pin. Tomorrow, when I go in for my volunteer shift, I am going to ask to volunteer more than one day a week. Some of the people that also volunteer at the hospital are impressed when they realize/find out that I am a visually impaired/blind volunteer. For the past few months, I go in once a week in the cancer institute and sort paperwork for the breast cancer department. I use my Eschenbach magnifier so I can see the names on the papers to be able to sort them in the right folders. I also hole punch papers and put them in binders/folders. Waiting to get Zoomtext put on their computer so I can start doing data entry on the computer.

      The title I would have if the volunteer work turned into paid employment, would Medical Support Assistant. The average salary for a MSA is 41,000 a year. That is a lot more than I get paid by Social Security.

I’m glad that they will be installing Zoom text on the computer so that you can also do data entry more easily. Hi Beverly! Thank you, I’m glad that you found this video to be insightful and helpful in so many ways, I truly believe that anybody in this community can still do anything they want, we just need to be creative and think of ideas and concepts that we can execute from home or on our own, working coming, and having an income does not mean that we need to report to a job five days a week for eight hours a day, that is not the case at all. The last thing I wanna do is report to a real job, I love the fact that I can set my own schedule and work as much as I want or as little as I want, I absolutely love that which is perfect for my personality. I just think that everybody has something to offer to the market and we just need to figure out what that is. Everybody is very skilled and eligible about at least one thing, and like I discussed in the video, there is demand for whatever it is every person has to offer. Thanks again Beverly, I apologize we did not connect today, as you heard in the video, I was actually very busy today doing some work! We will definitely talk sometime soon :-) Matt

It cost you nothing to open the store, so I definitely think you should do it. Not only that, possibly looking into selling those same items on eBay and possibly even Amazon handmade, those are just a few other places that you can sell the same items to reach even more people. Hi Matt,
    How you doing? I am a visual impaired person from Bulgaria who always looking for a business opportunity which are suitable for the blind or visually impaired. I have been owner to my company since 2010 in the cleaning industry in the capital of Bulgaria so I am a success now starting from 50 USD borrowed by my wife! I really apricate your activity in youtube and happy to see someone who is blind to do something in social networks but I thing most of us are better on social benefits, not getting involved in adventures, whether traditional work or self-employed. If you are having the talent to be a Musician or to be Solicitor that is fantastic to be self employed or employed if someone giving you a chance. I am really skeptical about employment for blind or visual impaired people so that other people think about what we can’t do, not to thinking what we can do more beta better than other people. Keep going and have you much success.

      Hi Matt! I love seeing you write something great again. You are a really cool person who likes to do something independently.
      I'm in my late 40's it's so complicated to tell you my story. I'm always looking to start a business without a big founding - don't put a lot of money into your project, I started my facilities property business in South Sofia, it includes housing management, gardening, cleaning, some repairs to apartment blocks. My focus now is on providing office cleaning services. Now I have hired 5 people to work for my company. I'm thinking of a new project - to start a home renovation business, I'm sure the idea is suitable for low vision or blind people with low or medium capital if i can do this that mine you can do to.
      To be honest, my eyesight is really bad and I prefer other people to work with my clients. When I start my business I have to did all my tasks on my own - it was so hard to be a cleaner, a gardener, a manager, a marketing manager (door-to-door leaflet distributor :-), an accountant and many other things. To be honest if you wish to do some incredible you need to be a bit crazy if you understand what i mean. My other future start up project is to bay to seal properties - bay, add value - do renovation after that sell it. It will be perfect if you have cash you will be cash bayer - you can bay property in below market value. Many options you have in property business big potential for blind people.
      Thank you, Matt!
      Sorry for my bad English.
      I'll write to you again next time.

I agree with you, it definitely does make it a little more time to do projects like this in the absence of vision, but at the same time we can still do anything we just need to maybe ask for a little bit additional assistance or delegate some work out to others.Congratulations on recently hiring some new people for your business, it sounds like you were growing which is amazing! Hi Matt! Fab advice and thoughts here as always! One other aspect that comes into play, especially with a service-oriented business, is that a person builds a strong reputation for being consistent, reliable, and punctual. I saw this being an issue time and time again with my parents' business as logging contractors while I was growing up, or with a friend of mine who is a general construction contractor. In both cases, finding a team of sub-contractors who can be trusted to show up, work hard, and get the job done safely is possibly the most challenging part, and the least in their control. Subs who show up late, drunk, coked out, hung over, lazy, argumentative, stealing tools, etc is a real challenge for contractors. This is part of the whole package that you and your dad bring to demo jobs, and robably a big part of the traffic you get now for your services. A lot of the same applies to starting up products for sale, to make sure no one feels like they are getting ripped off

    • @KonjikiKonjiki
      @KonjikiKonjiki 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of this is common sense, but it's just as important to cultivate good habits for a good reputation for a business to remain sustainable. Having been on the periphery of the artisinal community where people have a side hustle of selling their creations, it looks like it's important to get the balance of expectations, goals, realistic time frames, and consistent quality right for the stage of growth a side hustle is in. I like to do a lot of research for my big undertakings in life, like moving, having a wedding, or hiring a cleaning service, and I've read some real horror stories in terms of movers holding your possessions ransom for more money, seamstresses delivering late or shoddy work on wedding party dresses, and cleaning services stealing and/or violating one's privacy for personal gain, either for future theft or for kicks. So all of this awareness of how people can take advantage of a situation is something anyone offering me products or services will have to overcome. Fortunately, it's also pretty straightforward for a person starting to offer these things as a side hustle to overcome.

    • @BlindtoBillionaire
      @BlindtoBillionaire  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mel! Thank you very much for this very nice comment. It is interesting you bring this up, I think this is the main reason why we are brought on for so many big projects. Not the cause we possess some special skills or talent, but because we do great work, providing a good service with great customer service is also very important to us, but at the same time, we always show up on time,, We are reliable, and we continue to move forward with a job until we are done. Of course, we are never drunk or on drugs of any kind, and we are always very respectful to the property as well as we always try to work with people to make sure that they are always very happy with the work that we do and reasonable with our pricing. I would have to say, everybody that we have done work for has always been very happy to us and asks us what other type of work we do and typically refers us. A lot of the work that we do now is from referrals and word-of-mouth versus the actual advertising that I do. Thank you for all the very nice words and complements, I appreciate that and it truly means a lot to me! Just like you said, I think one of the biggest struggles for contractors is finding people who actually show up and do the work and who are reliable, it seems like that is getting hard to find these days. • @BlindtoBillionaire
      @BlindtoBillionaire  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, congratulations on creating podcast and doing a great job editing them, at least you have that aspect down, that is very important. Do you ever advertise with your Podcasts, possibly go on Facebook and find some groups that are consistent with the content that you podcast about an advertising there about your publications? I would definitely start there, it is a free way to advertise to a large group of people who may be interested in the content that you were producing. Perhaps you could find someone to sponsor you and your podcast, find someone or a company that is consistent with the content that you produce, reach out to them and ask if they would like to sponsor a certain number of your podcasting shows, maybe like five or 10 shows for let’s just say, 50 or $100.These are just examples, not solid numbers. But as a way for you to get sponsored for the work that you do and advertise for somebody else in the same time. These are just a few ideas, I hope they help. Also, during your podcast you can always just say, if you would like to help me create more content and support my Podcasts, here is a link where you can help support me, and it would be a link to some type of donation page. These are just examples, not solid numbers. But as a way for you to get sponsored for the work that you do and advertise for somebody else in the same time. Also, during your podcast you can always just say, if you would like to help me create more content and support to my Podcasts, here is a link where you can help support me, and it would be a link to some type of donation page. I would be careful about this idea because asking for money too often can certainly scare people away, but a lot of people definitely do it and it is just another idea. I hope they help. Matt

      @@BlindtoBillionaire Thanks. I've tried a few of those out. With the approaching companies, they say they want to see a direct translation from listeners of the show into for example ticket sales and pay based on that, which is a little hard to do. I'm a writer and I manage my social media, I'm a one person's show for now.
    Thing is, I'm pursuing traditional publishing. So I don't know what to do. I can't monetise my platform because I have a small following, so right now, I'm just growing my following and getting my thing more known.
    Meanwhile I work with pets. I have enough remaining vision to move around, and so I walk dogs and take care of pets. This is something I know I can do and I'm getting some little income. So I share it here.

    Matt - I LOVE you Mr lol. You are such a selfless person in the way that despite being busy yourself, you always find time for others, and your offer to help people explore their ideas is just incredible. What is Corey and her sisters Etsy site?
    I was also thinking about Amanda Ulrich and was thinking that another good idea ( I think ) would be to turn some of her artwork into greetings cards, present tags etc. So, creating the original artwork and turning it into a wider selling opportunity with the cards. Personally, I'm always buying cards for people, and its always a struggle to find something new.
    Your outlook on life in amazing, and I love it. At the moment, I'm looking for something to do as a hobby, to keep me occupied, and I just can't figure out. I get so bored sat here at home, and it would be good to have an interest.

Door only with no frame (door jamb) but notched for hinges and bored for a handle. Big doors though, 36”x84”. Price was almost $500 Canadian each + 13% tax. Now the phone is acting a little bit off and I’m waiting for the update to fix the update LOL I have always been a fan of the iPhone since they first came out and I was still able to see enough to use it regularly. So when I was no longer able to use it regularly switching over to voiceover came very easy to me because I was so familiar with the software and the phone I would be lost without it I use it for everything that’s why my battery is always in need of being charged LOL I need to look into the external battery thing again I had an external battery on my old iPhone but it was so shiny and slippery but it kept falling on the floor and I didn’t want to treat my new phone that way because they’re way too expensive to replace

      LOL, you’re funny! Exactly everything you said here is what I would say. Yes, I feel like I am also always charging my phone because I use it so much and I use it strictly on voiceover. I’m glad that the transition from using your voiceover normally to using it on voiceover it was such an easy transition for you. That is exciting! It sounds like we are very similar in this aspect. Thank you for always being here and commenting, you are a true friend and I sincerely appreciate all of your continued support. I hope you’re having a great day, Matt

Thank you again for the warning, that is frustrating especially for those of us who rely on voiceover so much. Thanks again :-)

    This is what I struggle the most with, is how to market myself for what I do best, with the flexibility of how soon I can do it again, (pacing), without needing a long recovery space due to environmental and transportation issues. In some ways doing what I do best naturally and when the sun isn't out, makes me feel healthier than anything else. What I do second best really needs to be something I can do on my worst days, and during the sun time, physically from home, over the internet, where I don't have to be visually seen or even audibly heard everyday, I can get past people watching me perform live, but I really cannot stand having to get a still picture of myself taken. Every time I have to renew my ID at the DMV, it is a traumatic experience. I cry every time. I try not to while I'm standing there, but sometimes it happens anyway. Sometimes even when close friends are trying to take my picture. Been this way since I was a little kid. Only one or two friends of mine have ever been able to take a picture of me that I could tolerate anyone else seeing, and they live hundreds of miles away now since the last few years. We can talk, but I can't enlist them to help with any still shots that I'd feel like I could trust to put in a resume, or on instagram. I have had to do a lot of difficult personal confrontations with people, and I know people see me get in and out of the swimming pool all the time, and never does it not feel kind of overwhelming. All of that is nothing compared to the trauma of someone taking a resume picture of me that I can hear from the angle is going to be really bad. The problem is that I can't see how, bad it's going to be now, and which nostril is flaring the most! I can't stand people demanding that I smile unnaturally in some kind of deranged way! The more they do that the more their just gonna get me ugly crying like Holly Hunter in Broadcast News or Raising Arizona, except frozen instead of continuously moving, and that's likely what the picture taker throwing me under the bus will choose for my ad. The other part is I grew up kind of hobbled, about negotiating for money.
    So to ask for more from the beginning is a helpful clue. Thanks.

      Hi, thank you very much for reaching out and sharing some of your struggles and where do you possibly need some help in this area. I feel like you are very talented and knowledgeable in so many areas, I definitely think that you have a lot to offer. We just need to focus and figure out a way that we can monetize what you are already doing. Are there any other blind or visually impaired people in your area that you could possibly teach Cain travel or anything else you can think of? You could possibly work with the person one on one on your good days, then have a couple days where you work with them over the phone from home and answer any questions or concerns that they may have. You could also do this remotely, you could teach people over the phone, through FaceTime, or through Skype, and then have them reach out to you at any time to give you updates of their progress. Just some ideas. Thanks again for watching this! Matt

      Hi, thank you for watching this video! That is so cool that you are a painter, but yet at the same time do not know where to sell your work. Have you tried some of the simple avenues online like eBay, Amazon, or Etsy? Those would be some very easy avenues to publish your work for free and advertise. Otherwise you could do other avenues like posting your work on social media like Facebook, Instagram, or a Twitter with a simple picture and a price for the item. I think you will gain a lot of exposure that way as well. If you were located in the United States, you could potentially even list your items on craigslist or other free platforms for free. There are so many different avenues you can take to advertise your work for free and start getting some exposure and traction. I hope this is hellful. Thanks again for being here, I appreciate your support! Matt

  • @robertantunez5351

    First, you never mentioned getting a good education. Second, the jobs you do require the help of another person who is sighted. It’s fine if you are sighted and can provide your own transportation but if you are blind, transportation is a major issue. I am blind and have a BS in political science from UCLA, a Masters in rehab counseling from San Diego State U, a law degree and certified as a professional mediator and for a major law school in Los Angeles. I have a good and constant income I don’t depend on others to do my work or help me do it. The answer to the question what job can I do as a blind person, is any job that does not require vision, it is that simple. So, revise your income talk to include a good education and degrees. As to being a translator or interpreter, most good paying jobs in that filed require certification which is not easy to pass.

      Hi, thank you so much for watching this video and for the questions about writing short stories and poetry. There are some websites out there where you can do freelance writing and people will pay you for your work. Or, there may be a request from somebody out there who is looking for someone to write a short story or possibly even poetry for them, they would give you the parameters for what they are looking for and it would be your responsibility to do the writing for them, in compensation they would pay you for your efforts. I would recommend doing some type of Internet Google search for creative writing types of work or where you can sell your poetry. As for short stories, I think this would be something relatively easy to find as there are always people who need writing to be done for them, but you do not have the time, skills, or even knowledge about writing which would be a great opportunity for you. If you were able to just do a Google search, I think you could possibly find some great resources. I hope this is helpful. Thanks again for watching. Matt

      Hi, thank you for watching this video into reaching out to me. I do not have a method right now for people to call and talk, but I’m happy to talk here through comments or through email. I also use dictation to write these messages, so no worries on spelling errors or anything like that, I truly understand it, trust me I do. I read messages the same way as many other people doing the exact same thing, so please don’t worry about it.My best met recommendation right now would be to sit down and write a list yourself or create a list somehow maybe with you and your wife of all the things that you are very talented at doing or where you have a lot of knowledge and skill. Then start exploring ideas and ways that you can start providing service to other people with that knowledge or talent. This may take a couple days, or maybe even a week or two, but if you perform this exercise every day, he will eventually start coming up with some creative ideas that get you excited. I don’t know anything about you, but I do know for a fact that you have talent and knowledge about something that you can share with other people who are looking to learn. Maybe you can provide a service of some kind, or maybe you can even offer education of some kind. Maybe it is something even as simple as translating if you are fluent in another language or two. Either way, spend some time creating a list of everything that you were knowledgeable about and you will come up with some creative ideas. I hope this helps so far. Feel free to ask any additional questions you may have :-) Matt
