I live in AZ and saw his act at ASU. Not only was he a menace on the field, but the school had to deal with three settlements..one for him punching and breaking a students jaw in a pickup game of basketball, one for punching a girl in a nightclub because she slapped him for grabbing her ass, another for injuring yet another student in a on campus fight. He was part of the Dennis Erickson crime wave and because of his reputation no NFL team would touch him except the bengals. Dude is said to be bi polar but doesn’t take his meds because they made him gain weight and become passive.

I've always thought that if you injure another player on a dirty hit (one that draws a flag), that the fine assessed to the offending player should be paid, in cash, to the victim. Add a little humility to the penalty. And also, if the injured player misses any games, the offending player should miss the same number of games without pay.

You missed a few: Chuck Bednarick, who put Frank Gifford out for an entire season with one hit and who described with delight punching Jim Brown in pile ups to try to stop him; Night Train Lane, who invented the clothesline tackle for knocking opponents unconscious; Dick Butkus, who openly gloated over players he’d injured and of whom Mike Ditka was admittedly terrified; and Mean Joe Greene who, if he felt you were holding him, threw uppercuts like a boxer going to the body and who, as a rookie, spit in Dick Butkus’s face. Butkus backed down when Greene offered to fight him right on the field. Interestingly, they’re all in the NFL Football Hall of Fame. That’s the way football was played in their day.

As far as James Harrison, he literally went from defensive player of the year to enemy #1 in one season. All because the NFL were hiding knowing about concussions and then couldn't hide it anymore. It just feels tragic to me that he got glorified and then vilified in just one season's time.

    • @thecensoredmuscle563

That's because Harrison started injuring guys from late hits. I like head hunter but it serves no purpose to head hunt a qb after already throwing the ball.
