Aerith was the heart and soul of this game.. Goodbye 😭 Damn I love this game! Like in the Jenova fight, everybody has their Limits except Cloud because he's sure he saved Aerith. Could be a different reality or Aerith acting through the Lifestream. We don't know yet. Cloud might be able to see two realities too. Everybody talks about Cloud but what about Tifa? She's devastated by Aerith's death. She lost her best friend. She didn't say a word during the ending. I'm so excited for Part 3! Bring me that Cid/Vincent gameplay!!! ❤
Cloud was once implanted with Sephiroth's cells, so he can see Aerith's soul, but Cloud's companions can not; for Cloud's companions, Aerith's death is a real thing, but Cloud can not face the fact, so he forces himself to regard the fact that he can see Aerith's soul as a sign that Aerith is still alive.

This ending absolutely broke me. It is the most painful and heartbreaking ending I’ve ever experienced. I was crying all night after I finished this game. 😭😭😭😭😭 Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is an absolute masterpiece. My favourite game of all time. This ending will stay with me forever. Part 3 will not be the same without Aerith. There is a void in my heart and it feels like nothing can fill it again.
@@kjh4496 I disagree. I wholeheartedly disagree. From this ending we know that Aerith is dead but Cloud thinks she’s still alive cause he believes he saved her. I think they’re going to be building up for an even more heartbreaking goodbye in Part 3 where Cloud finally accepts the truth of what happened.
@@kjh4496 I think the issue is this ending hinges on part 3 for the payoff. It's hard to judge this series until we get the whole thing to be honest. Because if they pull it off as @edwardhulse pointed out, it'll be even more impactful than the original I think.

@@kjh4496 To compare the two and say the og did it better is dumb. It's like compare apple to orange. Rebirth has multiple worlds so course the Aerith death was going to be different. Rebirth was showing that two different parallel worlds was happening at the same time of Aerith death. We clearly saw Cloud save Aerith in another different time line while the main time Aerith dies. It wouldn't make sense for them to play out the same scene as og if because Rebirth was trying to show case that muliple time line are happening. They clearly wanted to show Cloud was able to save Aerith and not save her.
@@Drw-id-Kirin there's no 100% definite answer, but given Cloud's deteriorating mental state and his weird behavior in the ending, I'm gonna assume his denial has him believing everything is okay. Even Sephiroth told him how clouded his mind was.
So funny enough there's a compilation of every time Tifa sighs and Cloud reacting and checking on her through Remake and Rebirth (it happens quite a few times shockingly) and at 3:36:26 when she sighs Cloud starts having flashes of presumably "Aerith's death" which is strange by itself that it happened at that moment. Then it happens again right before they board the airship she sighs again though Cloud has no reaction to it at all. I have thoughts on it, but it'd be a spoiler to get into so I shall save it
Thoroughly enjoyed your playthrough! I really like watching blind plays of this game. I’m also glad I wasn’t the only one who had so much trouble on the final boss battle. I think I had the game over screen 5 or 6 times. I’m really glad you have such a good time with your chat trolling you about Aerith. I’m an Aerith fan and it was great to see you grow to like her. I hate that some toxic fans gave you some bad comments. But thanks for keeping a positive attitude. I’m guessing 2 and a half to 3 years til the next part. Fingers crossed.
Still considered the saddest moment in video game history, the death of Aerith. The way Aerith's theme kicks in when you fight Jenova in the OG is recaptured so well in rebirth. It really hits.
It's a shame that all the extra destiny stuff they added around it kind of takes away a lot of the initial impact. Most people watching it are just confused as hell rather than devastated.
The amount of foreshadowing in this game is craazzy, like all the different stamps, the lyrics of the song Aerith sings, everything just gives you a hint of whats to come

So here’s some things to maybe watch out for: theses are all speculations: 1)notice how during the jenova fight, cloud isn’t in limi mode but the others are. 2)notice how during the jenovs fight, the gang temporarily disappears…why? 3)notice how the gang seems more cheerful as the jenova fight goes on when cloud is near them or with them. 4)ARE AE ACTUALLY SPEAKING TO AERITH IN THE FINAL SCENES? The reason why is that this aerith SEEMS ok with cloud going to find face off sephiroth. But aerith hates violence and earlier in the Forrest told cloud to focus on himself. Assuming that the Forrest aerith was real.
4:04:25As you can see here in the end credits, Aerith is the canon Rosa. Cloud=Hero Aerith=Rosa Sephiroth=Varvados -Their story parallels that of "Loveless" play. Cloud and Aerith also met at the "Loveless" street and under the "Loveless" poster in OG. -Kitase said that "Hollow" is Cloud's song about his feelings and "No Promises to Keep" is about Aerith's feelings and he wanted players to pay attention to that. -I think it's clear that Cloud love Aerith since OG hence his line at the OG ending: "The Promised land I think I can meet her there". -Loving someone beyond death is something that FF games are known for. -I hope you watch not only the Aerith date but the whole Loveless play with Aerith so you'll see the parallels.

I guess most people can't grasp the concept of love beyond death which is something that FF games are known for. Rosa is a mage character wielding a staff too, like Aerith. Pretty straightforward.

It was written in the Ultimania how he felt.
It seems to be left vague intentionally - "A confluence of emotions," as Sephiroth says; this includes confusion and sadness. He wasn't kidding! I think the hardcore fan base is left holding our breaths, waiting to see how part 3 wraps all of this up, hoping that we are not disappointed with how they explain it all. I'm nervous, but I have every confidence that Square-Enix understands how important this game is to the fans and to the franchise.
Aerith was acting weird because she knew she was running out of time and this was the last moments she'd spend with the man she loves. It's really not that complicated. It doesn't feel right for you simply because you don't like when cloud and aerith act like a couple

Aerith gave cloud the white materia in the date sequence at the church. Then she took it back in the aincent forrest moments later handing Cloud the blank materia. The reason she is dead one moment and alive the next is because the story is from clouds perspecive and he is delusional. "Clouded eyes" as Sephiroth says. BTW Remember Cait Siths predictions? they did come true :)
When the original was released, it was the only thing they had. After that they've added a lot to the lore, spin-offs and other entities to the franschise which means they have a lot more material to adhere to. This is what causing the new version to be very confusing. I'd love to see Java play the OG. Don't mind about spoilers, because the OG is different but still the same. It's so weird to explain, you need to experience this.

My thoughts/theories based purely on the information given to us by Remake and Rebirth. Aerith is dead. Sephiroth used his control over Cloud to trick him into thinking he saved Aerith to stop Cloud from getting in the way. Cloud's psyche is breaking/hanging on thin threads. He is in denial of her death and may become a point of vulnerability for Sephiroth and Jenova to exploit. When you see them mourning, Cloud has a headache (which has been used to convey something is messing with his mind) and sees Aerith the ominous music in the background is a pattern of notes you can hear in Jenova theme music. The Zack and other worlds parts of the game all take place within the lifestream. When Zack touched her hand, Aerith felt it when she had her hand in the lifestream while on the boat with the Gi ferryman. He is searching for Aerith and Aerith is leading him to her by using flowers.
shes definately dead. she gets the power to present herself via the lifestream. not to mention u are seeing aerith from clouds perspective only at the end of the game, and hes the most unreliable narrator in a game maybe ever. he just cant accept she died and sephiroth messing with his head makes his emotional turmoil even worse. aerith had to die just like before in order to fight sephiroth in the lifestream. ppl forget that ff7 themes are heavily based on loss and memory. memories of the planet, memories of ppl, so stands to reason most of what u see in the rmake saga is sephiroth changing memories, shaping them to his benefit. just my opinion. think about it, we see sephiroth all the time and hes not really there in either of these two games, he is using the clones, the whispers, jenova to reveal himself to the party and others. so aerith can do this as well, 100 percent
When I got to the last bench, I thought that I knew what was coming. So I took all the materia off Aerith to give to everyone else because I didn't think she'd be participating in the battles. I facepalmed when she stepped in to make the 1v1 against Sephiroth into a 2v1, and it made that fight unnecessarily harder for me. I wasn't about to go through all of the previous fights again because parts of Sephiroth Reborn really kicked my ass. So I just gutted it out the best I could. Took a few tries because I could only rely on Aerith for Weapon and Unique Abilities and Limit Breaks. (Ray of Judgment works really well on his Masamune), but I eventually beat him.
Aerith knew what was coming. Her prayer was to protect her friends, so I think she was allowed to remain whole in the lifestream after she died so that she could interfere and help Cloud - the implication being that now she has to 'go back'. But it's all guesswork until P3 comes out. But you WILL see Cloud have to deal with the reality of what happened. That's going to be the heart of the finale. I wonder which bits they're going to change.
Aerith's theme, after all these years, still makes me cry so much, they did it so well in this game, and I can't wait til part 3 when we see how the scene actually panned out....Just so I can cry some more lol

I don’t love the way they did it in Rebirth because during the whole ending sequence you’re like “wait… so is she dead?” Whereas in the original it’s much more visceral and it’s very clear. I did like how they did sephiroths little monologue after he attacks her on the altar
It's because they're saving it for Part 3, making the whole scene hit even harder as part of Cloud's lifestream moment, a pure retelling of the OG scene wouldn't ever hit as hard as the OG scene itself.
@@Soutar3DG Yeah, the writers are trying to put the player in Clouds mind. The fact that people feel confused, means they did a bang up job in its presentation. I can understand why people don't vibe with it, but it is impressive nonetheless.
It becomes pretty apparent that she's dead and only Cloud is seeing her. What we don't know is if she's communicating through the Lifestream or is a construct of Cloud's psyche.
I generally agree with this. I really like what they’re doing with the ending, I just didn’t love the execution. The music is all over the place, the visuals are confusing. I do believe they’re going to land the plane well, but it’s a bummer that for this moment they didn’t make it a bit more clear because it lost its emotional impact.
Cloud doesn't have his limit break in the final fight because his mental state is completely shattered. He cannot accept Aerith was murdered right in front of him. To really paint the picture of how dark that scene was in reality, the rest of the party sees Cloud holding now dead Aeriths hand up to his cheek, all the while he thinks Aerith is talking to him. The scenes that have Cloud speaking but you can't hear anything is him saying what he does in the OG to Sephiroth after he had killed Aerith.
They certainly did a fine job in how they'd rework Aerith's passing in the new game. It took EVERYONE off guard, those that played the OG over 25 years ago as well as newbies to the game.

You're right. All these people complaining that they couldn't mourn is quite strange. Why are they going into the scene with preconceived expectations. The first time anyone played OG they didn't know Aerith was going to die, it was a surprise. That's what they did here too, surprise everyone. Completely nailed it, it's far better than the original scene imo.

Sepheroth told you in plain and simple that there are many worlds. The dev even mention that Aerith death scene was going to be completely different because they wanted to show that two different parallel time was happening at the same time where Cloud manage to save Aerith in one time and in the main timeline he failed. Imagine getting mad that your nostalgia of Aerith death scene didn't play out 1 to 1 like the og when the Deve mention it won't the same at all. You have no one to blame, but yourself for the disappointment.

From what i know FF7 is linked to 13 and 10. in 13 we learn that if you change the future you change the past the effects ripple up and down the timeline. They beat Destiny in remake which made all the possible worlds/Realities exist but none of them end.that includes Zack not dying as we seen the effects of the change in future change his faith in the past. Sephiroth took the black materia and says at the temple "This is the key..." "Which grants access to the true counterpart hidden between worlds" The black materia is key to opening the link between the worlds. The white whispers are trying to make one timeline hold, the old one. Sephiroths black whispers that he controls are trying to keep the chaos that defeating destiny had caused on going. Cloud DID in fact save Aerith our Aerith but the white whispers are making the one timeline where she dies the main reality/world again you see them floating around her setting it as the main world/reality timeline. Cloud has the Black Materia so he still has the key between the worlds. That is why when he looks up he is seeing the sky glitch but the others cant. Cloud can see the world/timeline where the Aerith he saved is and she is still trying to help. Even after Aeriths death when Zack joins Cloud in the battle between worlds Sephiroth says "Just as worlds unite,so too do they part." then he cuts Zack off again but before Zack goes he says to Cloud "Cloud! save her!" meaning we still have a chance to "make things right" que part3 :)
With FF7 having gone multiverse and Sephiroth wanting to merge (reunite) the different versions of the world to create a single one according to his vision, I think it's likely that the party will screw up his plan and instead create a single timeline more according to their vision or the original timeline (if the whispers get their way) in the end. So either they'll undo Aerith's death by bringing her back from a timeline where Cloud didn't fail (he saved her in at least one) or it'll ultimately end up exactly like the original game if the whispers get their way. Don't think the Aerith we see is Jenova (who's said to impersonate recently deceased loved ones) as her dialogue in the last scene doesn't suggest it, thought it might be that when we just saw her smiling and looking creepy. Anyways, Cloud's mind will crack when he realizes that Aerith is DEAD. Villain bro points to Jenova/Sephiroth for just laughing when he killed Aerith. Very cold.
When referring to her death aerith appeared in spiritual form trying to protect him after she was stabbed and when referring to the end aerith is spiritually watching over them and cloud doesn't accept that she is dead
The frankly ridiculous length of the final boss sequence drained my emotions way more than the OG did. In contrast to that I feel the most sorry for Tifa considering that she's alone in her grief - considering that Cloud says nothing to console her in spite of their relationship being way deepr than it was in the OG, and that Aerith either would not or could not say anything was glaring to me.
Hello, Java Chip! I think that I finally understand what is going on in this game, having played the PS1 game. Unfortunately, since there will be a final game in this Remake series, I can't share any theories or specifics with you because it would need spoilers to explain. The music in this game was great. The music in this final chapter is incredible! I will say that in the '97 game, Aerith does die by Sephiroth's sword and is never in your party, for the rest of the game. It is an iconic moment in gaming history for making gamers of all ages devasted over the loss of a friend.
The whispers and the arbiter of fate in remake was the will of the planet. When the team defeated the arbiter of fate in the spiritual form of the lifestream in remake it gave sephiroth and aerith more control over the whispers which is indicated by colors in rebirth When aerith saved zack ( through the grey whispers ) it created a dream world where he is alive which set in the current time . Biggs was transported to this world when he died . Zack and Biggs are dead in the main reality and alive in the dream world/ lifestream world ( when cloud was unconscious in the main reality he was with dream / og aerith . Our aerith was with with the rest of the party ) Aerith was able to help cloud face sephiroth because that battle takes in the spiritual form of the lifestream . We have seen the spiritual form of the lifestream in advent children ( cloud talking to aerith ) , crisis core ( zack standing over a pool of water ) , remake ( sephiroth opening a portal to where the arbiter of fate was) and rebirth ( where aerith is guiding zack with the follow the yellow flowers , where aerith, zack and cloud vs sephiroth and where sephiroth is explaining the multitude world's that are within planet/ lifestream )
You're totally correct about Remake and Rebirth feeling like Kingdom Hearts. The leads of Remake and Rebirth are all basically former staff from Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XIII, the latter of which is also a very unpopular Final Fantasy because it's trilogy was also just like Kingdom Hearts: convoluted and so melodramatic to the point that it was masturbatory on the part of the directors. All these self-proclaimed "artists" from Kingdom Hearts and the FF13 trilogy are in lead positions for Remake, Rebirth and Part 3, and it is painfully obvious. Sadly, all these current leads of this project lack the guidance of the man who was their boss back in the earlier Final Fantasies, the man who created the series, Hironobu Sakaguchi. Everyone working on these Square Enix games lacks Sakaguchi's ability to pull together a good story, because Sakaguchi knew how to say "no" to bad ideas. When you read the interviews of Remake's and Rebirth's lead developers, all you see is how they tend to say yes to all of each others bad ideas, being too afraid to hurt the feelings of the next generation of devs. It's so pathetic and really is a blight on Remake and Rebirth's stories.
I didn’t like how the crew just left and abandoned Aerith by herself after she went and saw them off. I mean come on, that’s our healer… More to come in Part 3 I guess
Spoilers****** They decided to double down on Clouds Mental Illness and Aeriths Power Boost She'll need in part 3. They probably decided that going for Shock Value again wouldn't work like it did in OG and instead compartmentalized alot of the sadness for the Reconstruction of Cloud's psyche in Part 3.(like his death lines and water burial) The confluence of worlds has multiple meanings, but the Key Meaning is Cloud's "illusory world" hes created to cope with his Mental Illness (which comes from surivors guilt) and the World the rest of the party sees, hence the flashing from Clouds perspective(no blood) and Tifas(blood).
I think it’s hard for FF7 fans who have played the OG or know the main points of it to watch others that havent. I enjoyed your video for the most part and I won’t spoil anything but there are clear intentional reasons for the so called “fake deaths” more so specifically Barret and unfortunately if you have not played OG this will be lost on you and you may have a negative feeling about it. Besides the obvious changes they have made I think if you missed key things said throughout the game or misinterpreted you may have a more negative feeling about it which I find sad because although they did change it a bit from the original, I believe I know where they are going with the third game and with patience I think ppl will change their mind on what they thought of the ending. There is some big stuff coming in part 3 and I think they will expand more so what’s going on even more than in the original. Overall again, it’s just disheartening to hear some negative comments made when you know the OG or hear others complain. There is an important overall theme to this game and to change that would have been to ruin game so I’m glad they did what they did. I still appreciate the video and hope when part 3 has come and gone ppl will be happy and able to connect important dots because it’s an all time favorite game for me.

I feel Aerith is dead in the main reality ( spiritually alive like og and advent children ) and alive in the dream world when cloud saved her ( similar to zack's situation but she can exist in both )
Spoilers ahead. Aerith tipped off Marlene, who tipped off Zack to cure Cloud. Zack went to Hojo in one of the dream worlds, who had access to (cured) Genesis in Deepground. So when Cloud remembered Zack (much earlier than OG), and when he blocked Seph from striking Aerith...these are clues that Cloud is being cured. He isn't the puppet Seph expects, the puppet who monologues about Aerith's death without a tear. Rebirth Cloud actually cries, because he's himself, until he realizes Aerith is okay. Seph faked her death while separating their worlds, just like he faked Nibelheim. That's how Seph "underestimated" Aerith. Seph didn't expect Aerith to undo his control of Cloud. OG's temple is in the Southeast. Rebirth's temple is in the North. They are different worlds. Seph still stabbed OG Aerith's puppet, then he flicked her blood on Beagle Aerith, faking her death. Rebirth begins showing that characters who die in one doomed world do not die in other worlds, through Barret and Tifa and Red. In the ancient city scene, Tifa sees both worlds, both Aeriths in them -- Seph just said outside he was merging worlds, and now you see he meant OG world and Beagle. We win. Just like Cissnei doesn't feel like Zack is dead, Cloud feels the same way about Aerith. She's alive, even if the whole internet is wrong. The Prophet of Doom says so. Do you not see those daisies next to her reunion flowers? In her inn room? HE. IS. HERE. THE. END. IS. COMING.
The Ending is better because people dealing with Grief don't get over losing people they care about not like it's something of a grieving process And Final Fantasy Rebirth really showing better than The original in my opinion
Blame the devs they recommend playing Crisis Core before Rebirth. Probably because Zack is having a lot more screentime and importance in the Remake trilogy

Because in Rebirth, you can clearly see Zack mentions to Biggs about "one minute he was doing this and then the next he was still standing" or something like that. In FF7 OG classic, and FF7: Crisis Core, we clearly see that scene with all those troops around Zack, and what happens "won't spoil", but you actually played the sequel games and spoiled it for yourself. It is highly recommended to play FF7 OG Classic, and FF7: Crisis Core, before you play FF7: Remake, FF7: Rebirth, Part 3, and any other part they might add. And it would also be respectful to the FF7 fans to play the FF7 OG classic, and FF7: Crisis Core, first. You had how many years between FF7: Remake part 1 and FF7: Rebirth? : ) And then you had how many years / decades before FF7: Remake part 1? : ) I'm also a fan of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and other Castlevania games. Simon Belmont and Alucard with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, have left huge impressions, along with other game heroes that were main characters from other game consoles decades ago. Final Fantasy 7 was $50 dollars in the 90's, and it was amazing at the time that it came out as new. Super Metroid is another recommended game, and other Metroid games that are 2D side scroller / platformers.
Fun fact. What do the Cetra from FF7, Chozo from Super Metroid, Asgard from Stargate, Psilons from Master of Orion, and Atlanteans from Atlantis, all have in common? They're all highly advanced civilizations, with highly advanced technologies, and for a long time they wanted peace through research and development for new advanced technologies, yes the Cetra have magic too, but they have advanced technologies, and they represent the Atlanteans. You can clearly see and hear about the Cetra sounding like Atlanteans from Atlantis, from the game Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth. I say "hear" also, because the Cetra were talked about having their struggles, I.. won't mention them, because I would rather think about them being more peaceful and amazing, the same as Aerith assumed "and then the look on her face was filled with doubt when the Gi leader tried to gaslight Aerith about the Cetra ancient ancestors of hers, I found that cruel of the Gi leader to say those things. If the Gi leader is going to say such things, they should show the past with the ancient Cetra, otherwise that was cruel, and so the Gi leader was probably not telling the truth, he was just gaslighting Aerith into believing that, or the Gi were mislead themselves into believing that the Cetra gave up on them, like a child would do to the parents, meaning a lack of perspective on the Gi's part, and most likely not the Cetra's fault. Psilons from Master of Orion 1 and 2, not to be confused with Cylons from Battlestar Galactica, were peaceful researchers, and supposedly the Cylons were not, so... to stereotype them the same, they are completely different. Any civilization that open minded and advanced, that has progressed that far, is going to want peaceful research because of their open mind and level of progress, that would include self-improvement levels, and forward thinking. And thus... would not want anything but peaceful research and development, when a civilization has progressed that much and is that advanced, with such an open mind as all these mentioned advanced alien civilizations.
Another fun fact. Graphene is like finding Atlantis, and like finding mithril from Middle Earth. Except Graphene would be way better than mithril. We should not pass up the opportunity of advancing with Graphene. Photonics = light based energy, using Photon particles, like fiber optics in our devices for the wires / circuits, and the processors / chips, it can also be applied to the home / building wires in the walls, and for all our technologies, same with Graphene. Now imagine using Graphene as the material to have Photonics flow through for all technologies, advancing everything in space exploration and for here on the planet, for our daily lives. And not just force it to be used with other materials, let's revolutionize advanced engineering / designs, new concepts, creative ideas. Now combine both, and you get Graphene-Photonics, one should not be without the other, not without each other in research and development, and not without each other after. Think about why that is, Graphene and Photonics should be always combined, they're a synergy, a marriage of the two technologies combined. Now imagine the breakthroughs for these. And unpredictable breakthroughs "can happen in 5 years or tomorrow, it all depends on when a light bulb goes up, and a new idea is formed". The latest warp drive research is also important, we need more breakthroughs and unpredictable breakthroughs for these too. Always stay up to date with the latest breakthroughs in these things mentioned, about Graphene-Photonics, and the latest warp drive research. "Innovative thinking and creative solutions, cannot be achieved without the open mind and optimism combined, for forward thinking".
I hope to see a playtrough of the og FF7 and some of the others FF games that i love: FF4 3d remake FF5 FF6 my favorite in the series FF7 and probably the most underrated one in the franchise FF12

To everybody new to ff7 EVERYBODY that played it in 1997 all know its mainly Tifa & Cloud with absolute love, endearment & friendship with Aeris/Aerith. It always sucked because she dies & is also your homie Zack's "girl" tho Zack didnt stick with the pack because that's how it's written. It is what it always was. The original game was 1/5th of my entire life identity along with dragonball since the 90's. The new game ironed out some feelings, gave us options & made Aeriths death much easier to bear & they did magic bringing the characters to detail, it's exactly how i imagined it while playing ps1 graphics. I "we" use to talk about ff7 every year long before remake was announced & then it finally happened. Literally the #1 spot in my heart.
I understand and respect your choice to not play Crisis Core until even after Part 3. But I have to disagree with the sentiment of “why would you play it, it’d spoil everything”. This is simply just not true - it does reveal a key plot point, but playing CC does not expose you to the entirety of what occurs through FF7. I would argue that numerous scenes in both Remake and Rebirth have already undermined the impact of this aforementioned plot point, unlike in the OG where it really did succeed as a huge twist. The producer of this Remake project Yoshinori Kitase has stated on record that Crisis Core Reunion (the remaster that came out just over 12 months ago) would enhance your experience of playing Rebirth, and now that I have played through Rebirth myself I totally understand what he meant. If you were playing OG FF7 then yes stay the heck away from CC. But in relation to the Remake project, it serves as an essential companion piece, expanding and providing extremely meaningful context with many scenes in Rebirth - some of which simply don’t work as intended without CC knowledge . I do hope that the people who encouraged you to hold off on CC wasn’t dismissive of it simply to preserve that one plot point I mentioned earlier, only for it to be at the expense of the significance for many moments the Dev team deliberately crafted in Rebirth. To be blunt, CC would have elevated all your moments with Zack, whereas throughout your Rebirth play through, each and every moment you have had with him has had next to no emotional effect other than confusion. I don’t point this out as a criticism nor because I wanted a particular reaction, but purely because I truly believe had you looked into CC after Remake Part 1 you would have had an even greater experience with Rebirth than you already have. Nonetheless thanks for an entertaining series.
Cloud was once implanted with Sephiroth's cells, so he can see Aerith's soul, but Cloud's companions can not; for Cloud's companions, Aerith's death is a real thing, but Cloud can not face the fact, so he forces himself to regard the fact that he can see Aerith's soul as a sign that Aerith is still alive.
They straight up have Marlene tell new players Aerith is supposed to die. The biggest mysteries the game introduces are new for both new and OG players.
Another reason why aerith is the first choice over Tifa always. If you date Tifa over Aerith the MAIN STORY at the end makes no sense. You miss the date with Tifa, and nothing in the main story changes, because tifas date is nothing more than fan service that isn’t part of the main story narrative, the rebirth ultimania also stated that :)
Kind of makes me laugh because everyone is like "THIS ENDING IS A MASTERPIECE AND BROKE ME" Meanwhile I'm willing to bet lots of money that nobody had a fcking clue wtf was happening with this mess of a narrative. Most overrated game of 2024.
Confusing at first yes, but the clues were on there. They clearly show that there at least 5 different timeline with Zack going to save Cloud, Zack going to save Biggs, Cloud and Aerith last moment date, etc. Then we have the two parallel time happening show casing Cloud saving Aerith and Cloud not saving Aerith. The rainbow glow effect was the key visual to show the two different world happening at the same time. That's why the Aerith death didn't play out the same as og. A lot of people who are mad about Aerith death not playing out as og clearly didn't pay attention at all since. Dev already said the scene would play out differently. Sephy even explain to you in 6 grade language there are multiple worlds. Cloud even told us that there were multiple worlds when he told Barret he got send to another world and that there were many more. It can't get simpler than this.

I caught the tail end of this stream on twitch so I saw your reaction to the very last few cut scenes and maybe the last 45 minutes maybe but I have to catch up because the end of the game is very important and I love seeing other peoples perspectives❤ 9:03 it was incredibly cool to see Zack’s reaction to “ClAerith” 😂 he is such a good guy oh my Lord fuck I love him so much, he’s perfect.🥹💔 I just can’t stand how understanding and Sweet he is- he doesn’t let shit weigh on his mind and he doesn’t complain like most men would right away, but he did like cloud as well so I’m sure he understands too.. but on the other hand Cloud is not himself “he had a few more marbles when he was with Zack” Poor guy… Personally, I think Zack is going to be the key- Cloud has to remember everything that happened with him in order to snap out of it for real, that’s my theory and I’m sticking to it. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is an absolute masterpiece. My favourite game of all time.
This ending will stay with me forever. Part 3 will not be the same without Aerith. There is a void in my heart and it feels like nothing can fill it again.

From this ending we know that Aerith is dead but Cloud thinks she’s still alive cause he believes he saved her.
I think they’re going to be building up for an even more heartbreaking goodbye in Part 3 where Cloud finally accepts the truth of what happened.
@@kjh4496 I think the issue is this ending hinges on part 3 for the payoff. It's hard to judge this series until we get the whole thing to be honest. Because if they pull it off as @edwardhulse pointed out, it'll be even more impactful than the original I think.

@@kjh4496 To compare the two and say the og did it better is dumb. It's like compare apple to orange. Rebirth has multiple worlds so course the Aerith death was going to be different. Rebirth was showing that two different parallel worlds was happening at the same time of Aerith death. We clearly saw Cloud save Aerith in another different time line while the main time Aerith dies. It wouldn't make sense for them to play out the same scene as og if because Rebirth was trying to show case that muliple time line are happening. They clearly wanted to show Cloud was able to save Aerith and not save her.

So funny enough there's a compilation of every time Tifa sighs and Cloud reacting and checking on her through Remake and Rebirth (it happens quite a few times shockingly) and at 3:36:26 when she sighs Cloud starts having flashes of presumably "Aerith's death" which is strange by itself that it happened at that moment. Then it happens again right before they board the airship she sighs again though Cloud has no reaction to it at all. I have thoughts on it, but it'd be a spoiler to get into so I shall save it

Still considered the saddest moment in video game history, the death of Aerith. The way Aerith's theme kicks in when you fight Jenova in the OG is recaptured so well in rebirth. It really hits.
It's a shame that all the extra destiny stuff they added around it kind of takes away a lot of the initial impact. Most people watching it are just confused as hell rather than devastated.

So what do you think of the ending, now prob one of the most controversial endings to a video game? And as a newcomer no less!
So here’s some things to maybe watch out for: theses are all speculations:
1)notice how during the jenova fight, cloud isn’t in limi mode but the others are.
2)notice how during the jenovs fight, the gang temporarily disappears…why?
3)notice how the gang seems more cheerful as the jenova fight goes on when cloud is near them or with them.
4)ARE AE ACTUALLY SPEAKING TO AERITH IN THE FINAL SCENES? The reason why is that this aerith SEEMS ok with cloud going to find face off sephiroth. But aerith hates violence and earlier in the Forrest told cloud to focus on himself. Assuming that the Forrest aerith was real.

-Their story parallels that of "Loveless" play. Cloud and Aerith also met at the "Loveless" street and under the "Loveless" poster in OG.
-Kitase said that "Hollow" is Cloud's song about his feelings and "No Promises to Keep" is about Aerith's feelings and he wanted players to pay attention to that.
-I think it's clear that Cloud love Aerith since OG hence his line at the OG ending: "The Promised land I think I can meet her there".
-Loving someone beyond death is something that FF games are known for.
-I hope you watch not only the Aerith date but the whole Loveless play with Aerith so you'll see the parallels.

@@kevindie True. I was surprised when I got into the internet after playing OG and watching Advent Children that there's even a debate who Cloud loves. I thought it was pretty clear it's Aerith. I guess most people can't grasp the concept of love beyond death which is something that FF games are known for. Rosa is a mage character wielding a staff too, like Aerith. Pretty straightforward.

@@kevindie Yes, Cloud and Tifa even talked about it in Rebirth, that they weren't close as kids and Tifa has her own group that Cloud wanted to be a part of but they never asked him to play.😭 It's the same in the first part of Remake when Cloud felt isolated as Avalanche is having their reunion talk at the bar. It was written in the Ultimania how he felt.

It seems to be left vague intentionally - "A confluence of emotions," as Sephiroth says; this includes confusion and sadness. He wasn't kidding! I think the hardcore fan base is left holding our breaths, waiting to see how part 3 wraps all of this up, hoping that we are not disappointed with how they explain it all. I'm nervous, but I have every confidence that Square-Enix understands how important this game is to the fans and to the franchise.
Aerith was acting weird because she knew she was running out of time and this was the last moments she'd spend with the man she loves. It's really not that complicated. It doesn't feel right for you simply because you don't like when cloud and aerith act like a couple

I'm curious to know how you liked these games and the characters, not having played the original. I loved Remake and was a little underwhelmed with Rebirth, but I feel like I can't have a fully clear opinion because of my biased love for the OG, which is probably my favorite game of all time.
Aerith gave cloud the white materia in the date sequence at the church. Then she took it back in the aincent forrest moments later handing Cloud the blank materia. The reason she is dead one moment and alive the next is because the story is from clouds perspecive and he is delusional. "Clouded eyes" as Sephiroth says. BTW Remember Cait Siths predictions? they did come true :)
When the original was released, it was the only thing they had. After that they've added a lot to the lore, spin-offs and other entities to the franschise which means they have a lot more material to adhere to. This is what causing the new version to be very confusing. I'd love to see Java play the OG. Don't mind about spoilers, because the OG is different but still the same. It's so weird to explain, you need to experience this.

My thoughts/theories based purely on the information given to us by Remake and Rebirth.
Aerith is dead. Sephiroth used his control over Cloud to trick him into thinking he saved Aerith to stop Cloud from getting in the way.
Cloud's psyche is breaking/hanging on thin threads. He is in denial of her death and may become a point of vulnerability for Sephiroth and Jenova to exploit. When you see them mourning, Cloud has a headache (which has been used to convey something is messing with his mind) and sees Aerith the ominous music in the background is a pattern of notes you can hear in Jenova theme music.
The Zack and other worlds parts of the game all take place within the lifestream. When Zack touched her hand, Aerith felt it when she had her hand in the lifestream while on the boat with the Gi ferryman. He is searching for Aerith and Aerith is leading him to her by using flowers.

shes definately dead. she gets the power to present herself via the lifestream. not to mention u are seeing aerith from clouds perspective only at the end of the game, and hes the most unreliable narrator in a game maybe ever. he just cant accept she died and sephiroth messing with his head makes his emotional turmoil even worse. aerith had to die just like before in order to fight sephiroth in the lifestream. ppl forget that ff7 themes are heavily based on loss and memory. memories of the planet, memories of ppl, so stands to reason most of what u see in the rmake saga is sephiroth changing memories, shaping them to his benefit. just my opinion. think about it, we see sephiroth all the time and hes not really there in either of these two games, he is using the clones, the whispers, jenova to reveal himself to the party and others. so aerith can do this as well, 100 percent
The material was indeed white. She gave cloud the white one to give to her other self, and then she gave him back the clear one.
When I got to the last bench, I thought that I knew what was coming. So I took all the materia off Aerith to give to everyone else because I didn't think she'd be participating in the battles. I facepalmed when she stepped in to make the 1v1 against Sephiroth into a 2v1, and it made that fight unnecessarily harder for me. I wasn't about to go through all of the previous fights again because parts of Sephiroth Reborn really kicked my ass. So I just gutted it out the best I could. Took a few tries because I could only rely on Aerith for Weapon and Unique Abilities and Limit Breaks. (Ray of Judgment works really well on his Masamune), but I eventually beat him.

Aerith knew what was coming. Her prayer was to protect her friends, so I think she was allowed to remain whole in the lifestream after she died so that she could interfere and help Cloud - the implication being that now she has to 'go back'. But it's all guesswork until P3 comes out. But you WILL see Cloud have to deal with the reality of what happened. That's going to be the heart of the finale. I wonder which bits they're going to change.

Java if you haven’t, you should watch the OG Aerith death scene. It’s way more straightforward. I don’t love the way they did it in Rebirth because during the whole ending sequence you’re like “wait… so is she dead?” Whereas in the original it’s much more visceral and it’s very clear.

It's because they're saving it for Part 3, making the whole scene hit even harder as part of Cloud's lifestream moment, a pure retelling of the OG scene wouldn't ever hit as hard as the OG scene itself.

I can understand why people don't vibe with it, but it is impressive nonetheless.
It becomes pretty apparent that she's dead and only Cloud is seeing her. What we don't know is if she's communicating through the Lifestream or is a construct of Cloud's psyche.
I generally agree with this. I really like what they’re doing with the ending, I just didn’t love the execution. The music is all over the place, the visuals are confusing.
I do believe they’re going to land the plane well, but it’s a bummer that for this moment they didn’t make it a bit more clear because it lost its emotional impact.
Cloud doesn't have his limit break in the final fight because his mental state is completely shattered. He cannot accept Aerith was murdered right in front of him. To really paint the picture of how dark that scene was in reality, the rest of the party sees Cloud holding now dead Aeriths hand up to his cheek, all the while he thinks Aerith is talking to him. The scenes that have Cloud speaking but you can't hear anything is him saying what he does in the OG to Sephiroth after he had killed Aerith.
And this isn't the first time Cloud refused to accept reality due to a past tragedy, and created his own story in which he 100% believes is the truth.

They certainly did a fine job in how they'd rework Aerith's passing in the new game. It took EVERYONE off guard, those that played the OG over 25 years ago as well as newbies to the game.

You're right. All these people complaining that they couldn't mourn is quite strange. Why are they going into the scene with preconceived expectations. The first time anyone played OG they didn't know Aerith was going to die, it was a surprise. That's what they did here too, surprise everyone. Completely nailed it, it's far better than the original scene imo.

Sepheroth told you in plain and simple that there are many worlds. The dev even mention that Aerith death scene was going to be completely different because they wanted to show that two different parallel time was happening at the same time where Cloud manage to save Aerith in one time and in the main timeline he failed. Imagine getting mad that your nostalgia of Aerith death scene didn't play out 1 to 1 like the og when the Deve mention it won't the same at all. You have no one to blame, but yourself for the disappointment.

I think they took away some of the certainty here (Sephiroth actually impaling Aerith, Cloud's speech, laying her corpse to rest in the water, etc.) the OG had to make this moment hit even harder when Cloud finally accepts the truth in Part 3.

FF7 is linked to 13 and 10. in 13 we learn that if you change the future you change the past the effects ripple up and down the timeline.
They beat Destiny in remake which made all the possible worlds/Realities exist but none of them end.that includes Zack not dying as we seen the effects of the change in future change his faith in the past.
Sephiroth took the black materia and says at the temple "This is the key..." "Which grants access to the true counterpart hidden between worlds" The black materia is key to opening the link between the worlds.
The white whispers are trying to make one timeline hold, the old one. Sephiroths black whispers that he controls are trying to keep the chaos that defeating destiny had caused on going.
Cloud DID in fact save Aerith our Aerith but the white whispers are making the one timeline where she dies the main reality/world again you see them floating around her setting it as the main world/reality timeline.
Cloud has the Black Materia so he still has the key between the worlds.
That is why when he looks up he is seeing the sky glitch but the others cant.
Cloud can see the world/timeline where the Aerith he saved is and she is still trying to help.
Even after Aeriths death when Zack joins Cloud in the battle between worlds Sephiroth says "Just as worlds unite,so too do they part." then he cuts Zack off again but before Zack goes he says to Cloud "Cloud! save her!" meaning we still have a chance to "make things right" que part3

With FF7 having gone multiverse and Sephiroth wanting to merge (reunite) the different versions of the world to create a single one according to his vision, I think it's likely that the party will screw up his plan and instead create a single timeline more according to their vision or the original timeline (if the whispers get their way) in the end. So either they'll undo Aerith's death by bringing her back from a timeline where Cloud didn't fail (he saved her in at least one) or it'll ultimately end up exactly like the original game if the whispers get their way. Don't think the Aerith we see is Jenova (who's said to impersonate recently deceased loved ones) as her dialogue in the last scene doesn't suggest it, thought it might be that when we just saw her smiling and looking creepy. Anyways, Cloud's mind will crack when he realizes that Aerith is DEAD.

The frankly ridiculous length of the final boss sequence drained my emotions way more than the OG did. In contrast to that I feel the most sorry for Tifa considering that she's alone in her grief - considering that Cloud says nothing to console her in spite of their relationship being way deepr than it was in the OG, and that Aerith either would not or could not say anything was glaring to me.

I think that I finally understand what is going on in this game, having played the PS1 game.
Unfortunately, since there will be a final game in this Remake series, I can't share any theories or specifics with you because it would need spoilers to explain.
The music in this game was great. The music in this final chapter is incredible!
I will say that in the '97 game, Aerith does die by Sephiroth's sword and is never in your party, for the rest of the game.
It is an iconic moment in gaming history for making gamers of all ages devasted over the loss of a friend.
The whispers and the arbiter of fate in remake was the will of the planet. When the team defeated the arbiter of fate in the spiritual form of the lifestream in remake it gave sephiroth and aerith more control over the whispers which is indicated by colors in rebirth
When aerith saved zack ( through the grey whispers ) it created a dream world where he is alive which set in the current time . Biggs was transported to this world when he died . Zack and Biggs are dead in the main reality and alive in the dream world/ lifestream world ( when cloud was unconscious in the main reality he was with dream / og aerith . Our aerith was with with the rest of the party )
Aerith was able to help cloud face sephiroth because that battle takes in the spiritual form of the lifestream . We have seen the spiritual form of the lifestream in advent children ( cloud talking to aerith ) , crisis core ( zack standing over a pool of water ) , remake ( sephiroth opening a portal to where the arbiter of fate was) and rebirth ( where aerith is guiding zack with the follow the yellow flowers , where aerith, zack and cloud vs sephiroth and where sephiroth is explaining the multitude world's that are within planet/ lifestream )
You're totally correct about Remake and Rebirth feeling like Kingdom Hearts. The leads of Remake and Rebirth are all basically former staff from Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XIII, the latter of which is also a very unpopular Final Fantasy because it's trilogy was also just like Kingdom Hearts: convoluted and so melodramatic to the point that it was masturbatory on the part of the directors.
All these self-proclaimed "artists" from Kingdom Hearts and the FF13 trilogy are in lead positions for Remake, Rebirth and Part 3, and it is painfully obvious.
Sadly, all these current leads of this project lack the guidance of the man who was their boss back in the earlier Final Fantasies, the man who created the series, Hironobu Sakaguchi. Everyone working on these Square Enix games lacks Sakaguchi's ability to pull together a good story, because Sakaguchi knew how to say "no" to bad ideas. When you read the interviews of Remake's and Rebirth's lead developers, all you see is how they tend to say yes to all of each others bad ideas, being too afraid to hurt the feelings of the next generation of devs. It's so pathetic and really is a blight on Remake and Rebirth's stories.

They decided to double down on Clouds Mental Illness and Aeriths Power Boost She'll need in part 3.
They probably decided that going for Shock Value again wouldn't work like it did in OG and instead compartmentalized alot of the sadness for the Reconstruction of Cloud's psyche in Part 3.(like his death lines and water burial)
The confluence of worlds has multiple meanings, but the Key Meaning is Cloud's "illusory world" hes created to cope with his Mental Illness (which comes from surivors guilt) and the World the rest of the party sees, hence the flashing from Clouds perspective(no blood) and Tifas(blood).
I think it’s hard for FF7 fans who have played the OG or know the main points of it to watch others that havent. I enjoyed your video for the most part and I won’t spoil anything but there are clear intentional reasons for the so called “fake deaths” more so specifically Barret and unfortunately if you have not played OG this will be lost on you and you may have a negative feeling about it. Besides the obvious changes they have made I think if you missed key things said throughout the game or misinterpreted you may have a more negative feeling about it which I find sad because although they did change it a bit from the original, I believe I know where they are going with the third game and with patience I think ppl will change their mind on what they thought of the ending. There is some big stuff coming in part 3 and I think they will expand more so what’s going on even more than in the original. Overall again, it’s just disheartening to hear some negative comments made when you know the OG or hear others complain. There is an important overall theme to this game and to change that would have been to ruin game so I’m glad they did what they did. I still appreciate the video and hope when part 3 has come and gone ppl will be happy and able to connect important dots because it’s an all time favorite game for me.

I feel Aerith is dead in the main reality ( spiritually alive like og and advent children ) and alive in the dream world when cloud saved her ( similar to zack's situation but she can exist in both )
Spoilers ahead.
Aerith tipped off Marlene, who tipped off Zack to cure Cloud. Zack went to Hojo in one of the dream worlds, who had access to (cured) Genesis in Deepground. So when Cloud remembered Zack (much earlier than OG), and when he blocked Seph from striking Aerith...these are clues that Cloud is being cured. He isn't the puppet Seph expects, the puppet who monologues about Aerith's death without a tear. Rebirth Cloud actually cries, because he's himself, until he realizes Aerith is okay. Seph faked her death while separating their worlds, just like he faked Nibelheim. That's how Seph "underestimated" Aerith. Seph didn't expect Aerith to undo his control of Cloud.
OG's temple is in the Southeast. Rebirth's temple is in the North. They are different worlds.
Seph still stabbed OG Aerith's puppet, then he flicked her blood on Beagle Aerith, faking her death. Rebirth begins showing that characters who die in one doomed world do not die in other worlds, through Barret and Tifa and Red. In the ancient city scene, Tifa sees both worlds, both Aeriths in them -- Seph just said outside he was merging worlds, and now you see he meant OG world and Beagle.
We win. Just like Cissnei doesn't feel like Zack is dead, Cloud feels the same way about Aerith. She's alive, even if the whole internet is wrong.

Java, it's actually a spoiler to play Final Fantasy 7: Remake and Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, before playing Final Fantasy 7 OG classic and FF7: Crisis Core.
Because in Rebirth, you can clearly see Zack mentions to Biggs about "one minute he was doing this and then the next he was still standing" or something like that.
In FF7 OG classic, and FF7: Crisis Core, we clearly see that scene with all those troops around Zack, and what happens "won't spoil", but you actually played the sequel games and spoiled it for yourself.
It is highly recommended to play FF7 OG Classic, and FF7: Crisis Core, before you play FF7: Remake, FF7: Rebirth, Part 3, and any other part they might add.
And it would also be respectful to the FF7 fans to play the FF7 OG classic, and FF7: Crisis Core, first. You had how many years between FF7: Remake part 1 and FF7: Rebirth? : )

I'm also a fan of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and other Castlevania games. Simon Belmont and Alucard with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, have left huge impressions, along with other game heroes that were main characters from other game consoles decades ago. Final Fantasy 7 was $50 dollars in the 90's, and it was amazing at the time that it came out as new.
Super Metroid is another recommended game, and other Metroid games that are 2D side scroller / platformers.

What do the Cetra from FF7, Chozo from Super Metroid, Asgard from Stargate, Psilons from Master of Orion, and Atlanteans from Atlantis, all have in common?
They're all highly advanced civilizations, with highly advanced technologies, and for a long time they wanted peace through research and development for new advanced technologies, yes the Cetra have magic too, but they have advanced technologies, and they represent the Atlanteans. You can clearly see and hear about the Cetra sounding like Atlanteans from Atlantis, from the game Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth.
I say "hear" also, because the Cetra were talked about having their struggles, I.. won't mention them, because I would rather think about them being more peaceful and amazing, the same as Aerith assumed "and then the look on her face was filled with doubt when the Gi leader tried to gaslight Aerith about the Cetra ancient ancestors of hers, I found that cruel of the Gi leader to say those things. If the Gi leader is going to say such things, they should show the past with the ancient Cetra, otherwise that was cruel, and so the Gi leader was probably not telling the truth, he was just gaslighting Aerith into believing that, or the Gi were mislead themselves into believing that the Cetra gave up on them, like a child would do to the parents, meaning a lack of perspective on the Gi's part, and most likely not the Cetra's fault.
Psilons from Master of Orion 1 and 2, not to be confused with Cylons from Battlestar Galactica, were peaceful researchers, and supposedly the Cylons were not, so... to stereotype them the same, they are completely different. Any civilization that open minded and advanced, that has progressed that far, is going to want peaceful research because of their open mind and level of progress, that would include self-improvement levels, and forward thinking. And thus... would not want anything but peaceful research and development, when a civilization has progressed that much and is that advanced, with such an open mind as all these mentioned advanced alien civilizations.

To everybody new to ff7 EVERYBODY that played it in 1997 all know its mainly Tifa & Cloud with absolute love, endearment & friendship with Aeris/Aerith. It always sucked because she dies & is also your homie Zack's "girl" tho Zack didnt stick with the pack because that's how it's written. It is what it always was. The original game was 1/5th of my entire life identity along with dragonball since the 90's. The new game ironed out some feelings, gave us options & made Aeriths death much easier to bear & they did magic bringing the characters to detail, it's exactly how i imagined it while playing ps1 graphics. I "we" use to talk about ff7 every year long before remake was announced & then it finally happened. Literally the #1 spot in my heart.
I understand and respect your choice to not play Crisis Core until even after Part 3.
But I have to disagree with the sentiment of “why would you play it, it’d spoil everything”. This is simply just not true - it does reveal a key plot point, but playing CC does not expose you to the entirety of what occurs through FF7. I would argue that numerous scenes in both Remake and Rebirth have already undermined the impact of this aforementioned plot point, unlike in the OG where it really did succeed as a huge twist.
The producer of this Remake project Yoshinori Kitase has stated on record that Crisis Core Reunion (the remaster that came out just over 12 months ago) would enhance your experience of playing Rebirth, and now that I have played through Rebirth myself I totally understand what he meant.
If you were playing OG FF7 then yes stay the heck away from CC. But in relation to the Remake project, it serves as an essential companion piece, expanding and providing extremely meaningful context with many scenes in Rebirth - some of which simply don’t work as intended without CC knowledge .
I do hope that the people who encouraged you to hold off on CC wasn’t dismissive of it simply to preserve that one plot point I mentioned earlier, only for it to be at the expense of the significance for many moments the Dev team deliberately crafted in Rebirth.
To be blunt, CC would have elevated all your moments with Zack, whereas throughout your Rebirth play through, each and every moment you have had with him has had next to no emotional effect other than confusion. I don’t point this out as a criticism nor because I wanted a particular reaction, but purely because I truly believe had you looked into CC after Remake Part 1 you would have had an even greater experience with Rebirth than you already have.

Cloud was once implanted with Sephiroth's cells, so he can see Aerith's soul, but Cloud's companions can not; for Cloud's companions, Aerith's death is a real thing, but Cloud can not face the fact, so he forces himself to regard the fact that he can see Aerith's soul as a sign that Aerith is still alive.
It would be confusing if you didn’t play the original. She’s supposed to just outright die same as Tseng. But who knows with the new one.
They straight up have Marlene tell new players Aerith is supposed to die. The biggest mysteries the game introduces are new for both new and OG players.

Confusing at first yes, but the clues were on there. They clearly show that there at least 5 different timeline with Zack going to save Cloud, Zack going to save Biggs, Cloud and Aerith last moment date, etc. Then we have the two parallel time happening show casing Cloud saving Aerith and Cloud not saving Aerith. The rainbow glow effect was the key visual to show the two different world happening at the same time. That's why the Aerith death didn't play out the same as og. A lot of people who are mad about Aerith death not playing out as og clearly didn't pay attention at all since. Dev already said the scene would play out differently. Sephy even explain to you in 6 grade language there are multiple worlds. Cloud even told us that there were multiple worlds when he told Barret he got send to another world and that there were many more. It can't get simpler than this.
