When I was twelve years old I remember that watching Smallville was my family's favorite moment, in the afternoon I would come home from school and run to make popcorn leaving everything ready for the night. One day my parents were off work and went to pick up my younger sister, they took so long that I ended up sleeping on the couch, I woke up in the morning with my grandparents knocking on the door and when I opened it they cried so much and hugged me saying they would take care of me, the two later told me that my family had been in an accident the night before with another car. It was without a doubt one of the worst years of my life, I am very grateful to my grandparents for all the care they had with me and despite all the losses I moved on, managed to graduate and take care of the store my parents left. And family, I love you so much, know that there isn't a day that I don't think of you.

I like all of Smallville, but the first couple of seasons just appeal to me so much. The whole suburban, sunny, US farm town vibe mixed with the highschool elements is something I always love watching. I loved it in films like American Pie. The fact that it's also in the early 2000s appeals to me, too. The music and everything just blends so well and it's just a pleasure to watch. And it's Superman...so it allows for action and twists to the traditional style. So far this show has been amazing. I thought the whole highschool thing wouldn't fit superman but it does fit amazingly well. It's give us that side of Superman we haven't seen before. And I like how it never forgets that it's a superman show, either.
Michael Rosenbaum is _still_ the best on-screen Lex ever, TV or film, live-action or animated. And I say that as a big fan of Gene Hackman and Clancy Brown.
He's the basis for the modern version of the character, before Rosenbaum Lex was very undefined as a person, serving as Superman's ultimate nemesis more because of their general morals rather than out of underlying personal conflict, Rosenbaum's version gave him and his relationship with Clark and Lois an unprecedented level of depth that has been drawn upon a lot ever since, I wouldn't really compare his portrayal to the others, Cryer did a great adaptation of the character, Rosenbaum essentially created his own. Also credit to Glover's Lionel given how he helped ground the character a lot considering how diffuse and unexplored Lex's family life used to be prior to Smallville, outside of Lena.
João Dionisio it's the best Superman show, I started watching it and I'm on Season 2 and I got very addicted to the show. I theme this song in my head all the time!
heyits brook We won't know that for a while, all that's been announced is that Tom Welling And Erica Durance are returning as Clark Kent and Lois Lane for Crisis on Infinite Earths
It's next year that the Crisis On Infinite Earths is suppose to air but not sure which show will be first, I'm gonna assume it'll start around the same time as Legends of Tomorrow does because Supergirl, Arrow, & The Flash are returning in a couple weeks this year.
@@heyitsbrook6577 crossover starts December 8th with super girl, next day Batwoman and next day the flash. Then on arrow in January 14th and legends of tomorrow right after arrow. Crossover will be 5hrs long total basically.
1:06 I met Rosenbalhm at a hockey game when he was doing a salute of the troops visit. I shook his hand and took pictures. Nicest guy on the face of the earth. Shook my hand and said “ what’s going on brother make me proud” I’ll never forget it. Respect sir. Played an amazing Lex Luther.. unbelievable actor. And very respectable guy.
There's something about this show. You feel like a hero after watching it. I actually felt like i was superman. And i think.superman is the greatest hero of all time.
Ngl, this show inspired me to be a hero. Obviously I can't fly or run at super speed or have laser vision and all that, but I have an urge to help people in any way I can
Anyone notice how the look on Lex’s eyes slowly go from friendly in season 1-4 to cold and uneasy in season 5-7. Kind of shows his character development
I found lots of the episodes from Seasons 1-4 in Smallville to be truly and incredibly moving and deeply inspiring on so many different levels. That genuine sense of vitality and humanity in most of the characters, that indescribable feeling of warmth and joy in the early 2000s, most people today could not BEGIN to understand that atmosphere of familiarity and innocence. Ah, guys, how I honestly wish we had some kind of time machine. Even the people seemed so much happier and friendlier back then, with such strong patriotism, family relationships and personal faith in the ideals and principles of liberty and justice for all. :)
...You mean the era where we started *the Iraq War*??? Lmao. Post 9/11 wasn't wholesome, it was a hellscape. I mean, I guess unless you really love every movie and radio song getting censored and mass security and surveillance and nuclear "threats" and a shitton of antiwar protests. I was in high school in the early 2000s and while there were certainly some things that were better than now, there was also an awful lot of awful. Not trying to be a jerk, but babes that "indescribable feeling of warmth and joy" is called 'nostalgia'
I'll admit that I enjoyed Jesse's portrayal, mostly because it reminded me of pieces of different versions of the character, like Gene Hackman and Clancy Brown's, as well as this version, while still doing his own version of the character. But yeah, Michael Rosenbaum did amazing.
Tom Welling is the true heir to the Superman title despite Henry Cavil’s great performance... Tom took over long before him so he’s basically the Christopher Reeves of my generation
*Reeve, I couldn't agree a lot more! George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Tom Daly, George Newbern, Brandon Routh, Henry Cavill, Jerry O'Connell and Tyler Hoechlin have made Superman their own and done fantastic Superjobs but Tom Welling came after Dean Cain and Christopher Reeve and before Routh, they're both the reasons why Welling became the early 2000s Superman in the first place and how hes done an amazing job. The first ever episode of Smallville got me Superhooked with goosebumps and the final overall TV episode of the entire show was exciting and I've anticipated for but it was a big let down because we never got to see Tom Welling properly suit up in mid-air to burst outta the roof of his Fortress so we can get a first new look at our 2000s Man of Steel now fully complete (but the story continued and ended in the Smallville: Season 11 graphic novel series! Not to mention we get our broken hearts fixed by one thing ain't gonna say it!!!) But I forgot to mention how fukkin awesome it was seeing Tom with Chris Reeve when their characters of Clark Kent and Dr. Swann meet each other for first time, kinda like Chris saying to Tom "I left my mark in the world of Superman, those other guys did it. Now it's time for YOU to leave yours....as this is a job for....well, shit. Guess we can't call you Superman, though?"
@max müller and that is because until the final overall episode, he wasn't the comic book Superman that we all know, love and idolise, similar to Henry Cavill who will have his Superman of Metropolis arc properly finished and wrapped (before the Man of Steel sequels!) by (the REAL, GENUINE AND OFFICIAL!!!!) Justice League 2021. While we are all know-it-alls, we all fuck up, times we become dishonest, we learn from our faults and mistakes we admit to/take responsibility for that way become the best versions of ourselves. Lessons we've learnt from our mistakes, we put to good use for others too.
@@madman-xo3ru Well one reason would be Tom Welling never wanted to play the role of Superman. Welling's signed on to play Clark Kent and to tell the story of Clark's journey to becoming the Man of Tomorrow. But he never wanted to wear the Superman suit. While the executives ordered "No tights, no flights", Welling's was in agreement with that. Now, if that sounds stupid to you, you are not alone in thinking that. Towards the end of Smallville, hell by the start of season 9, Welling's was already mostly playing Superman, just without the costume and being able to fly, yet he refuses to this day to wear the Superman suit. The CW even had the chance to put Welling's in the suit briefly during Crisis 9 years later, yet Welling's stated in an interview that had their first proposal been to have Welling's appear in a Superman suit, he would have hung up instantly. While he was a good Clark Kent, he never wanted to play Superman.

@@helloitisme7430 well it’s because season 1-5 aired on The WB Television Network from 2001 to 2006, season 6-10 aired on The CW Television Network from 2006 to 2011
The show poked fun at this too! In one episode, Clark went to a sort of "comic-con" or halloween party where people dressed up as iconic characters. The scene starts with the viewers following someone wearing blue shirt/red jacket walking around, then as it zooms out we realize it's NOT Clark. Clark looks at the guy like "...hmmm..weird". The writers made someone cosplay Clark within Smallville itself 😂
Smallville’s one of the best shows of all time, and this intro is some of the best on TV. I’m so happy to hear that Tom Welling and Erica Durance are coming back in Crisis on Infinite Earths!!
The minute the first lyrics were sung I just got the biggest smile on my face. like, I felt like i was 5 again discovering heroes again. Superman, Spiderman, all of them with this being one of the first.

D3ath Blade I love this show. I started watching it and I got very into it and I started loving this show. My dad watched it when it came out but I was happy I started watching it. It made me love Superman more than ever
Yea, the reason we all like it is because it's very relatable to us growing up , plus it's awesome, with a good storyline. Those people who says Superman is boring has obviously never watched Smallville.
The one where Clark saved the little boy, that to me was the best and most awesome part of the intros to me (2:30). I loved the transition from space, to the meteors, to the little boy and then Clark protecting him. I loved the scene as well, but that moment to me is always touching. Somebody saveeeeeee me!!! And who? Clark is the saviour. Maybe that's why they never changed it lol.

@@TheBarlettano I don't know the full story but saw stuff about that she was in NXIVM, a cult that engages in sex trafficking, forced labor, and racketeering.
Season 5 was the season shit got real in the opening credits department. I don't like how loads of shows now don't have opening credits as I know all of the cast from smallville's names from seeing them in the opening so many times.
Now it's just a lazy " My name is .... " Thanks to Arrow (amazing show but it started this trend that i don't like seeing on every new shows that show up)
This song just came on in the elseworld crossover, when Barry and Oliver breach over to Smallville to Kara's earth and the camera pans over Smallville while the this track plays over and then goes to The Kent farm
@@randomizer2050 That cameo to me was a kick in the nuts. Seriously, we have 10 whole seasons of Clark learning to be Superman, learning that whenever he gives up his powers bad things happen because the world needs Superman, with his love interests saying the world needs Superman more than they do and understanding his importance, literally multiple people saying that he will live forever or at least outlive everyone he knows and loves, that it is his destiny to be Superman and that he can't escape it......... But Nah, we'll have him give up being Superman after around 10 years while Lex is still President, because that can't possibly go wrong like in a certain vision Jor-El showed him in season 7 in a world without Clark Kent. It's been theorised that he is using blue kryptonite to take away his powers which is plausible, but it still undoes the teachings of 10 seasons that Clark can't escape his destiny for a normal life. And also the fact Tom Welling still refuses to wear a Superman suit because it wasn't about him being Superman, it was about Clark's journey to becoming Superman isn't a valid point, because part of the journey is the end and he couldn't be assed to suit up one time even after 9 years for 1 or 2 scenes to pay tribute to the show that made him famous. Wearing a damn Superman suit is a huge honour, plenty of actors would kill for such a role and he didn't even want it, hell he actively avoids it!!
Sparrow should have been Tom I know it’s good to have a new Superman but they should have waited from Tom I’ve heard that song at least 500 times because their is 216 episodes and I’ve watched the series like 4 times

+Harry McNamara amen
Completely agree!!
Love the whole show. But the first few season were something special
Harry McNamara Preach friend. Preach. You're so right.
Never seen a more relatable comment on TH-cam. Spot on lol
Well said!
Michael Rosenbaum is _still_ the best on-screen Lex ever, TV or film, live-action or animated. And I say that as a big fan of Gene Hackman and Clancy Brown.
He’s probably the second best Flash too lol.
I think Jon Cryer is actually better and more faithful to the character even if I admit I really like Michael Rosenbaum in the role
@@catajedi no micheal is the best lex I've seen and Jon can't compare
Best Flash for sure. I'm torn on Clancy Brown and Michael Rosenbaum for best Lex. Both are amazing.
Holy crap someone save him already man
Nah, it looks like he still needs saving after all this time (CW Crossover).
You do it😂
I just realized that Smallville is the one & only superhero series that's lasted for 10 seasons..
That's right! I thought The Flash was going to make it too but they are ending this season after 9 years.
It ain't the GOAT of superhero shows for no reason
@@PlumbPitiful They could have gone for one more season but Grant Guston just had enough.
the best show ever about the origin of Superman...
Smallville will always be in my heart and memory...love it
João Dionisio it's the best Superman show, I started watching it and I'm on Season 2 and I got very addicted to the show. I theme this song in my head all the time!
I'm finally on Season 3! I could finish the show below 10 years
Too bad they did Impulse and not Flash
first 4 season were excellent too bad the from that point it started to decay.
Tom Welling is returning as Superman in arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths!!!!!!!
When?
heyits brook We won't know that for a while, all that's been announced is that Tom Welling And Erica Durance are returning as Clark Kent and Lois Lane for Crisis on Infinite Earths
Oh ok
It's next year that the Crisis On Infinite Earths is suppose to air but not sure which show will be first, I'm gonna assume it'll start around the same time as Legends of Tomorrow does because Supergirl, Arrow, & The Flash are returning in a couple weeks this year.
@@heyitsbrook6577 crossover starts December 8th with super girl, next day Batwoman and next day the flash. Then on arrow in January 14th and legends of tomorrow right after arrow. Crossover will be 5hrs long total basically.

Anyone notice how the look on Lex’s eyes slowly go from friendly in season 1-4 to cold and uneasy in season 5-7. Kind of shows his character development
Nice notice there
If lexs memory wasn’t erased in season 2 or 3 he wouldn’t of been evil
Rosenbaum did an absolutely amazing Luthor.
When i first saw that, it gave me chills

same here.. I still havent completed last three seasons
Como se llama esa canción
I finished all the seasons today
Most of the younger generation don’t understand that this was after 9/11 which is why there was so much wholesomeness when I was a kid in this era.
...You mean the era where we started *the Iraq War*???
The first opening makes me so damn nostalgic
Carlos Caro dude same i feel tears

Best Lex Luthor!!!
Shawn Eshghi way better than Jesse eisenburg lex luthor from bvs
Ledger jokers and this LEX are the greatest ever
Greatest Lex ever, he completely captures the emotion and darkness inside of Alexander Luthor.
Bex Lex, totally
I'll admit that I enjoyed Jesse's portrayal, mostly because it reminded me of pieces of different versions of the character, like Gene Hackman and Clancy Brown's, as well as this version, while still doing his own version of the character. But yeah, Michael Rosenbaum did amazing.
the nostalgia hit me so hard in elseworlds and hearing this again really was awesome!
I know 😔. Remembering those times...just goes like that..
I have a feeling you’re loving the News RN since Tom Welling is coming back.
Fucking same bro.
watched once I turned 32 now I am 53 its been 21 years since the season 1 episode 1 time really flies what a great show and a great intro simply epic
I think it's good that Tom portrayed the superhero as an arrogant, dishonest know-it-all. An American.
I can't understand why they didn't give him a shot at the movie,he was a natural shoe in for the role
Every time I see Lex, I always remember this quote:
*_I am the villain of the story_*
Mohd Razif fucking ICONIC
Man I was so sad when Michael rosanbauem (I hope I spelt it right ;) ) left the show. Glad he came back for the finale.

U guys ever notice after awhile Clark always wore the color scheme of his Superman costume? The blue shirt & the red jacket was like his cape.
From season one he almost always wears blue shirt/red jacket or red shirt/blue jacket
Season 9 he wears grey and black because he became The Blur
i remember, when Chloe in the first (or second) season, tell Clark something like "blue looks good on You" hehe

The one where Clark saved the little boy, that to me was the best and most awesome part of the intros to me (2:30). Yep. Thats true.
Tom Welling will reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman in the Arrowverse crossover Crisis of Infinite Earths.
“That’s...why I’m here”
Man this has been an excellent weekend lmao
Been getting a shit load of news with the crisis of infinite earths and the anime date a live
it was such a dissapointing cameo
I love this show so much Nostalgia! Who's watching this in 2024?😃
