  • Definitely had to weigh in on this cause folks been actin’ crazy ever since this joint was announced. And look, I know Ubisoft as a company has had some issues, but in this house we respect the Dev teams that put their blood, sweat and tears into these games. Not to mention this premise looks awesome!

I have the same thoughts about it. I was for one glad to see an actual historical figure get added to the game, him being black just made it better but it wasn’t a game changer for me. Like I told you earlier I’m a fan of this kinda stuff and you said you were too and I feel like that’s what matters, I read about Yasuke some years ago and i knew who he was and why he became a samurai but yet the biggest argument is either he wasn’t a real samurai, he wasn’t a part of that time in Japanese history or he was just added to appease the black community. I don’t work for Ubisoft I can’t say if they did the third part or not but I don’t care why he was added it’s an assassins creed game, you’ll either play it or not. With all that being said I do think the pricing is a problem and rn I’m caught between not buying it until it has some kinda sell it just biting the bullet and buying the standard version , literally any other kinda AC game wouldn’t get so much money from me but this is literally the exception so I don’t know rn.

Yeah I got wind of the pricing issues after I filmed. I was sick when it first dropped so was trying to avoid clips until I could react so after the fact I was like fuck I could have talked about this more. Might make a separate video about it cuz I know Ubisoft has also had some issues as a company as well so I wanna research it further before really delving into those details but I do agree. I’m not paying exorbitant prices for anything unless I feel its worth it, Destiny being the best example. I got the Collector’s Editions for Beyond Light & Witch Queen. Didn’t even bat an eye BUT Destiny is my main game and on top of the actual collector’s items, you get the whole year of content as well so its worth it to me. Not every game has that much on offer for the more expensive versions.

This is a separate comment addressing what i think about the WOKE thing, there are some things that i notice in media nowadays that just makes me cringe, like things that are obviously done specifically for the sake of a business saying they’re “ inclusive “ I believe that a white character shouldn’t be made black just to make us feel like we’re a part of the project and vise versa, I also don’t think a movie originally made with an all male cast should be remade with an all female cast just to appease women who still might think they’re not really being heard when they’re literally women CEOs out here. I especially don’t like seeing this kinda stuff in Marvel movies as I’m a fan of that kinda stuff and I can notice where a character is created as a man, he’s been a man for years, but they decide to make him a woman when no one asked for it. With all that being said again, I enjoy original creations that depict actual diversity. I enjoyed the woman king, that’s literally the only movie I can name that I liked that had a woman protagonist 😂 but that’s either because the others were trash or they were remakes of already great films

Yeah for sure. I definitely think some companies approach diversity as more of a business move and as such, those things don’t always come off as genuine.
I do think we ourselves also need to be careful to not hyper criticize either. I have no problems with reimaginings or remakes, so long as they are done well and that sometimes can be objective. I also think its different to change a character whose identity is entirely based on who/what they are (like T’Challa) vs. a character is/always has been just an idea (The Endless in Sandman) because the reality, regardless of depiction, race/gender/sexuality are not always the things that most define characters and liberties are almost always taken across different interpretation.
I think society has unfortunately allowed diversity, and inclusion to be weaponized by politicians who now use the very premise of it as a tool for division which makes it very hard to have general conversations about any of it. Folks are seldom willing to talk respectfully about their feelings with one another and share perspectives.

@@LaytatoClips yea I understand what you’re saying, for one could accept instances of change if the story and plot is at least interesting, my main problem isn’t specifically the fact that companies are trying new things, my problem is those new things are usually not as interesting or intriguing as the original idea. And the same can go for original ideas. Comic Heroes that never had a movie could get a movie but the story is just not there. I like the idea of a blue beetle movie, and I’m a fan of Hispanic culture so I was kinda hyped to learn more about the character from the move. But I started hearing things about the plot that recently every marvel movie has been about now “ powerful male character going against the main female villain that’s stronger” either that or it’s woman character going against powerful male character but he’s a man so that basically goes against how strong he is. There are exceptions but obviously those exceptions are doing well so they don’t need to be in this conversation. Either way I’ll watch anything that’s good I don’t care what race, age, gender the protagonist is. But imma be honest you’re not gonna catch me watching a movie with a trans protagonist fighting for women rights as a strong woman herself

That’s fair. I agree for the most part save the last. And I’ll explain why. The thing with any character fighting for equality, being against any element of that can be a slippery slope. One can either be about equality for all, or none of it. That’s not to say there’s not any nuance or room for discussion either, but in the grand scheme of things, say a transperson fights for women’s rights. That benefits ALL women, wether or not one believes that transwomen are women. But if we say “oh transwomen aren’t women so they cannot fight for women’s rights”, what’s also being said is that only women can and should fight for women’s rights. So which is it then? Do we support the fight for women’s rights? Or do we oppose certain fights because we don’t like the person on the front lines doing the work? Feel me? Using women’s rights as the example here but this can be applied to alot of social issues tbh.
