    Thank you for the review! I’m deciding between this and the 62L version for my gym bag.

    This is a great bag for the money. I don’t need need another bookbag for a laptop. I needed a smaller travel pack/duffel. It holds a ton. I wrap the handles around the backside which allows me to slide over the extension handle of my suitcase. The backpack straps aren’t the most comfortable but I don’t haul it miles- just through an airport. I’ll add a shoulder strap.

    Enjoyed it! Great idea with your home made shoulder strap, just picked up this bag after lots of research. Keep up the good work with your new channel!

    Spent a lot of time researching duffels for travel and overall versatility. Settled on the Thule Chasm 40. I’d def recommend checking it out. May snag the black hole duffel just to compare but it seems very well thought out.

      @patrickcastillo9981 I may have to pick up a Chasm for comparison. I saw Cotopaxi has a new travel duffel that looks pretty interesting as well. There may have to be a duffel bag shootout video in the future!

    😊 I would recommend you from Maxpedition the Ironstorm and Ironclad! I love both of them and they include all the straps you need

    Biggest design fault I can see is that the shoulder straps are sewn into the lid. All the stress off carrying will go into the zip. I'm probably wrong but I can't see it holding up for long.

    nice review! i have this bag in black as the navy was out of stock, i personally velcro the side straps and have them behind my back and dont notice them really (tho i do have a curve on my lower back) i found if i had them loose i'd often put my arms thru them instead of the backpack straps lol also where the backpack straps tuck away i found this a good spot to fold a light jumper / rain coat or even use a packing folder and you've got some extra volume, as for the divider sometimes coming loose i had in mind to try and see if using some elastic bands on it once its in place to try and keep them there, not tried this yet so unsure if it works, but thought i'd share these couple of things for anyone who might have the bag or think of getting one :)

      also i have a question, if your laptop did fit in the compartment would you feel ok with it there? i worry that it mind have some pressure on it if the pack was packed out, i heard tom on packhacker say he put his laptop into the actual bag

      @velyvely6479 I would agree, if the bag were stuffed full, and a laptop was in the designated sleeve, it would be under some pressure from the other contents.

      @@SJA-Reviews i thought about getting a think sheet of plastic or looking for something like that to put in the laptop sleeve to give that area some support, apple products are known for bending also (its happed to my ipad) def need to find a solution for this

    Do you think this would be all good for carry on flying?

    • @SJA-Reviews
      @SJA-Reviews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it would be a great option. Easy to fit under a seat or in an over-head. Hope this helps!

    How good is the weather proofing? Will it keep stuff dry on a rainy hike?

    • @SJA-Reviews
      @SJA-Reviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @JohnDSmith the shiny material does repel water fairly well, but the canvas side does absorb some water. I’d look for a pack more specific for all weather hiking, or treat this one with some water repellent spray

    Instead of bringing another strap for shoulder carry when travelling, just cross and clip one backpack strap diagonally then loosen the length.

      @SJA-Reviews  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I tried that, but the strap was too short to carry in a cross-body style

    No water bottle pocket like the 32L?

    • @SJA-Reviews
      @SJA-Reviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      @AO-qz8qy That’s correct, the 42L doesn’t have a water bottle pocket like the 32L. Hope this helps!

    • @AO-qz8qy
      @AO-qz8qy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SJA-Reviews thanks. now I’m leaning towards the 32L. Is the 32L big enough for 2 nights? Or is it just an overnight bag

    • @SJA-Reviews
      @SJA-Reviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      @AO-qz8qy I don’t have the 32L TNF, but it should be fine for 2-3 days of clothes/toiletries/necessities, based on other 30-35L bags I’ve used
