Thank you! I was constipated and tried eating pears, berries, quinoa, and movement nothing was working but I had two glasses of the chia seed water and that worked finally! Anyone out there struggling worked rather quickly right after my second glass.

You’re welcome. Chia seeds are my favorite. The other stuff is important to incorporate daily so you don’t have to go through that again. 😊

Is there a way to add chia safely to a purée diet? My special needs daughter, who has dysphagia, was recently dx’d with stercoral colitis; rare and dangerous, just like her primary disorder, Dravet Syndrome, that predisposes her to severe, chronic constipation. I’m struggling with controlling her constipation when she can’t have psyllium or Metamucil because she requires thickened liquids. Any advice would be most helpful; no one knows much of anything about this condition.

You can soak chia seeds for 20mins to 30mins and blend them into a smoothie for your child. Hope this helps. ❤

@@agneslyengu1579Thank you so much. I’ve soaked it to drink and wondered if I could do the same, then purée into a smoothie, going to try that.

I have to say on this video you were fantastic! Good common sense with your professional training as well. But the difference in this video you didn't go too deep down the rabbit hole with things I just didn't have time for and frankly not enough time for the scientific terminology. No, that isn't an insult to you. You're a doc, I am not. ❤ Keep on doing what you do. You're fantastic

I have IBS-C. And my doctor never mentioned any of these things other than drink water and eat vegetables. In my mind I was eating fruit and vegetables and drinking water. They put me on pills and it "worked" but only as long as I took the pills. The pain of IBS is a whole another thing. I basically had to go on a liquid diet. I could barely drink water without vomiting. I was so constipated. After about 5-6 weeks my stomach could tolerate food again. I lost a massive amount of weight and was pooping without pills. Well fast forward 4 years later and my constipation is back. Not anywhere near as bad but I am back on pills. This video had some duh moments (prunes and chia) for me but also some new ideas. Anywho thanks very informative.

    Hello,
Great video! What is your opinion on drinking psyllium fiber husks on top of a whole-foods plant-based diet? Is this a supplement that you recommend avoiding, or do you think it could be beneficial ?

My wife has been on pain killers every day for the last six months because of falling over and fracturing her vertabrea. She now has bad constipation Could this be an effect of the pain killers. ?. .

Constipation is a well known side effect of narcotics. The largest bundle of nerves outside of the Brain is in the gut.

A tablespoon or teaspoon of chia? You said tablespoon but the graphic print said teaspoon.

Occasionally I take a spoonful of castor oil to relieve my constipation. How often can I safely take it?

    • @Healthyimmunedoc

In general laxatives are irritants to the gut. It would be best for the gut to see high fiber foods that will naturally reduce inflammation and generate beneficial short chained fatty acids to promote health so that no laxatives would be needed. 😊

You need to wash oatmeal 3 times, dont eat quick oatmeal. If you hydrat oatmeal you will tolerate better oatmeal.
