Everyone who says this doesn't sound like Skid Row.....Skid Row, Slave To The Grind and Subhuman Race all sound completely different. So what do you think they should sound like? Thickskin is amazing album and Johnny was a great singer. He was also a better human being than Bach could ever hope to be
I've been to see the band with Johnny 4 or 5 times and everyone has a great time. The audience eats it up and really gets into it. And personally, I love the Thickskin record. If the haters on youtube don't like, then don't watch the videos.
Let me say this. I was avid Skid Row listener years 15 years ago, and that time I was like "meh" because this was obviously not Skid Row that we all know. But revisiting this song after all that years, I can see how awesome this is. If you just ignore the name of the band, this is gonna be an awesome rock song
Their mistake was using the Skid Row name for this, this album is so good, but skid row was Bach’s voice and always will be Bach’s voice. I’m sure they hate it, but it’s the truth. I really love this album tho
Music isn't bad, but one thing I don't dig are 80's bands that changed their sound to sound more like Alternative/Grunge. JMHO.... he's got a good voice.
So, I guess Sabbath should have changed their name when Ozzy left, Maiden should have after DiAnno left, Priest should have after Halford left etc etc etc. 3/5ths of the band is still there.
If you don't like them, don't listen, but there is really no need of swearing and calling them names. I saw Sebastian live a couple years ago and he seriously kicked ass, but I am also going to check Skid Row out this year.
First time i heard this...for real...i knew they where touring but...who was the voice?! Sound like smallville soundtrack at the end of show...or bon Jovi un there its muy life álbum...good voice...good song But...its something different then skid Row.
With Covid and everything, I somehow missed the news of Johnny's passing last summer. Somehow Skid Row came up in the discussion on 93X Mpls/St.Paul this morning and they referenced Johnny's passing from liver failure, I had no idea. I LOVED the Thickskin album, especially "Born A Beggar". RIP JS
Well, I would say this is a different 'Skid Row'. Although the song is good, it has changed the band's characteristic. I still love Bach's voice and can see no one else has his kind of vocal.
I finally listened to this album(I admit I didn't bother w Skid Row after Bas left). My mistake. My god, this album is great and probably my favorite SR album
Today i have listened the first time "skid row" and i think, this songs is one of the best even if the many negativ comments say otherwise good song ;)
All the hate. I love old Skid Row but I like this version too. They have no reason to roll over and die just because Sebastian isn't with them. It's been years get over it. Sebastian did shit since Skid Row.
Yeaaaaaaaaah!!! With ya, Bro! The heart of the band was the muso's anyway...S'Baz just came along as the final member. As a guitar player, this is a very familiar scenario to me... You go to all the trouble of assembling a band of players...first a drummer... followed by a bass player...and then just maybe your ego can withstand a second Axe slinger, for the betterment of the music. But the singer....the singer is always impossible to find! And when you finally get someone, they come from nowhere to step into the spotlight, and take all the glory for the music you've put 15 years into the making....and they get all the applause for going, "YEAH, YEAH, OH YEEEEAAAAAH!!" over the top! M'F'ers! Lolz..
I ve just started listening to the band and am surprised what a underrated singer cause he wasn't called the best I would say guess he was loved only by special people and appreciated without comparing. Bands with different singer are even more interesting cause each vocalist gives something unique from oneself, it s also normal that band changes like people change their preference, opinion etc. With his voice I m just stuck. And this song gives me goosebumps and wet eyes everytime I listen to. Two albums I ve heard I liked, sound like musical rollercoaster, not mentioning softer songs with beautiful tone, but this hard mixture without really settled vocal facilities couldnt be done, no doubt. That s why I m very grateful the band had taken him, otherwise I wouldn't know such an amazing singer btw Solinger band rocks...
I go and see them every year even with Johnny as the lead. Yes he is not Bach but he is very good and I enjoy hear the songs live every year. Snake, Scotti, Rachel they are all still there and deserve the support of the loyal fans. Long as they are touring I will try and see them.

@KonZhighcl3ric Yeah, dude.. I got you but the point is that the "old" skid row got its name and identity with Bach. It will never change. Is it possible to imagine Beatles without one of their members?
I think they should have left the name skid row behind, it's a 2bl edged sword. these guys' music is actually great (not 'true skid row' comparative), but original skid row fans won't listen to it and others who associate this stuff with old sr will not listen to it either. too bad. I heard this song in my friend's car and not knowing the band, I thought it was a good song. When I asked who's the band and they said skid row, I was like wtf? If you're just listening, you would have never known it was skid row without bach's vocal. The vocal makes the band.
Yeah it is different and closer to the "radio rock" of today, but consider this: 1. Back inthe 80's, as great as it was, Skid Row played the style of "radio rock" from that era. 2. This CD might "sound" a lot like today's "radio rock", it is so much better. The lyrics are deep, the arrangements are tight, and Dave "The Snake" Sabo is still shredding on the axe. After getting over the the different sound, Thickskin became one of my more favorite CDs. Not like the Bach stuff but real good.

Pretty good hard rock pop song. thumbs up!
@funkyt35 Skid Row was formed by Dave "Snake" Sabo in 1986
I heard this song in my friend's car and not knowing the band, I thought it was a good song. When I asked who's the band and they said skid row, I was like wtf? If you're just listening, you would have never known it was skid row without bach's vocal. The vocal makes the band.
Yeah it is different and closer to the "radio rock" of today, but consider this:
@SuperBells18 Funnily enough Bach was the second vocalist for Skid Row, not the original. Plus Johnny has been a singer for SR longer than Back was!
When did the singer from The Romantics play guitar for them?
I feel the things I said
but never said how I felt
I know I waited much too long
could I get it in your head
without a head full of doubt
looking back it seems that I
went about it all wrong
Lying alone in the bed we made
watching headlights on the shades
the ghosts that sleeping by your side
are my promises to you that died
to you that died
Wasn't long ago
when forever was our friend
but now freedom's what I feel inside
it hurts so much to let you go
to know we'll never touch again
when I walk if I fall down
can I take it in stride
Lying alone in the bed we made
watching headlights on the shades
the ghosts that sleeping by your side
are my promises to you that died
to you that died
I might let you go, but i'll never go away
I might let you go, but i'll never go away...yeah
I feel the things I said
but never said how I felt
I know I waited much too long
Lying alone in the bed we made
watching headlights on the shades
the ghosts that sleeping by your side
are my promises to that died
lying alone in the bed we made
watching headlights on the shades
the ghosts that sleeping by your side
are my promises to you that died
to you that died
to you that died.
