Honestly, number 10 is important for gaming in general. Tilt just ruins your skill, and more importantly, any improvement you can gain from playing.

i find it easier to not get tilted when playing for fun, always been so carefree but for the first time ever, when i was just on the door of becoming 1000 elo, and had set my mind to get it, any set back was really really crushing, usually no other game manages to make me feel like that, but chess has done it

    • @TactfulWaggle
      @TactfulWaggle 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

oh also after achieving 1000, i reprogrammed my mindset to be playing for fun, i went back down to 930, but then the next few days jumped up to 1100!!

I would even dare to say that tilt can ruin pretty much anything in your life, not only gaming. Plus, in other contexts, one may speak of being triggered rather than of being tilted - seems to me that being tilted and being triggered are not so far away from each other.

    # 10 is really important! Overcoming tilt is really difficult for me. Losing a game feels very personal and makes me angry. I really need to work on that.

    • @tonyanimations5377
      @tonyanimations5377 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Personal tip (it may not work with everyone), the goal is to use your frustration to your advantage:
When you get angry after losing, close your eyes and think deeply about that anger, you need to feel it through your body, as a punishment. Then next time you play (whether it's the same day or not), close your eyes and think about all the happiness that you get when you win, think deeply. Now open your eyes and play for that happiness, don't think about the points, think about the happiness you get by winning.
Consistently practicing this technique will train your brain to maximize its efforts for winning.
But really, don't forget to do the five-five rule he talked about in the video before playing again.

I'm glad I have experienced ego death couple of times, so losing any game doesn't feel almost anything. Of course I want to win, but I'm not upset at all if I lose in chess or in any other game.
Also I think of losing a game (or doing anything wrong in real life) as a learning experience. In chess with computer analysis learning from mistakes is very easy practically.

    1.not controlling the center
2.not developing pieces- knights and bishops -All 4
3.too many pawn moves - leaves behinds weak squares
    4.bringing queen out too early
    5.not castling b4 move 10
6.blocking your own pieces from developing
7.not doing proper blunder check - every single time opponent make moves , you should be asking what are they threatening and how I need to respond
    8.playing too fast
    9.neglecting your king’s safety
10.playing on tilt - upset angry annoyed - frustrated.
Solution -> 5-5-5 rule. Set timer for 5 minutes - 5 jumping jack - get your blood flow . Go to front door - fresh air - 5 deep breath.

The 5-5-5 rule is the best one. The biggest problem is tunnel vision when a person doesn't accept the loss and start to be nervous more and more and more. For some game I don't even try to play again if I find this to me..
Other good thing about 5-5-5, that even Magnus does this.

That last one really hit home. For about a week I had felt like my brain was broken because I kept making really dumb mistakes, getting frustrated, playing more aggressively, which led to more dumb mistakes and frustration. Taking a break, even if it’s a whole day, to reset and chill out is really good advice (which is what I did to fix my slump).

I like the King's Fianchetto opening, myself. It combines several principles--it quickly develops my bishop to an active diagonal, it hits two of the center squares, and it can hamper an opponent's development. It paves the way for early castling, and I believe the King is more secure with that structure than without.

#4 is important - I have frequently defeated opponents who get the queen out too early. I chase it around the board with minor pieces and pawns and sometimes the opponent blunders it away. Recently one queen took a rook in the left corner but I swiveled a knight into position to trap the queen.

    # 1 and 3 is why I quit playing chess a long time ago. The whole point is to control the center, so it takes away from the game, knowing I can't move or even start out moving certain pawns. In most games, all your pawns will still be in the same starting place for most of the game. Sure you can start out moving any pawn you want, but you will lose most of the time if it's not the center pawns.

If i lose first game this is what typically stresses me, off to a bad start kinda thing.
If i have a few wins, then i lose, i quit playing for an hour or so, come back later.
This has especially helped since i learned that anger feeling of losing quickly dissapates.

As a 1700 I can say that playing too fast and on tilt are mostly my problem...you really nailed it with these 2

#7 is one where I often fail to identify all threats.

Number is 10 is important in a lot of things. Most of the time when I play chess, it's not to win or to lose a game, but it's to take my mind off of another problem that I am having a difficulty solving. Just the brief respite will many times bring a solution to mind that I was just circling around.

Nr. 9 also shows that you should never surrender too early. Give your oppoent a change tomake mistakes.
Nr 10 never was a real problem for me. In the end it is only a game of chess you lose. No need to feel frustration.

What about that bishop pin on the knight in kingside. How do you avoid the pin?

Definitely suffer from tilt. I lost about 200pts the other day and almost quit the game because I kept immediately doing another game to try and bounce back and get back in a groove or back in a winning streak.

Yes, number 10 is the big one for me. I start to play compulsory sometimes, with terrible results. The same happens to me in classical chess. I can win six games in a row and then, all of a sudden, I lose five games in s row. So I go up to 1900 ELO and then back to 1840 again.

Thanks Nelson for the tips, Tip 10 is I think the most important but for me after I win a game I lose twice in a row. Cheers 😊

In that position where was f4 group is blocking the knight find the pawn is attacking the queen

rule 5 only applies if the queens are on the board. ive won plenty of games without castling, even ones where queens were not traded.

You just haven't seen a Gotham video 17 pawn moves in a raw. It was a real opening on the first 3 pawn pushes. And was pretty effective.

Making too many pawn moves early in the game is also the major reason the supposed bust of 1.e4 in Marseillais Chess, 1…d5 dxe4, isn’t actually so good.
