A brilliant idea 👏👏 World Hunger is often misconstrued as not having enough resources to grow food, but that's a fallacy. There are countries in Africa that could grow the world's entire demand for Grain 😮. More Eggs, less meat is environmentally sound yet largely ignored 😯 and lots more. I'd love to see this product or process being applied to Raspberries 🧐
It's funny because all I have noticed over the last decade is how much more 'quickly' food is designed to go off! Often food producers will throw in an older vegetable to deliberately make the fresher produce go off faster due to the gases they give off when degrading. This means we're throwing away food faster. This is the real reason foodwaste is at an all-time high, not necessarily because consumers are wasteful. This problem needs to be addressed first and foremost. If you grow your own food at home you become very aware about the effort it takes to bring vegetables and fruit to fruition, so you begin to appreciate it much more, plus it's much healthier than the crap sold in the supermarkets which has little to no nutritional value...basically fibre. I wonder if in 10 years time we'll realise the direct result of increased carbon emissions is linked to this coating technique? This is ultimately the problem with many start-ups, they simply don't look at the potential harmful effects that their 'invention' might have on the planet and humanity.
This is probably true for many producers. Their is a population limit to the increase in profit growth in the food industry. Making food go bad is profitable. This is for items that are so fragile they can’t even make it to market under normal circumstances.

Edible coating, because of stuff like this the American food is the worst and the most dangerous, they do not care what will that coating do to the human body, they only care how much money they can make. And they are very proud of that.
Found this on their website. "And just how do we do that? Apeel uses materials that exist in the peels, seeds, and pulp of all fruits and vegetables to create a protective extra peel that seals moisture in and keeps oxygen out. That means our produce stays fresh, nutritious, and delicious twice as long. It also means less produce goes to waste throughout the supply chain-from grower to retailer to consumers at home. Less waste for you means less waste for the planet and a more abundant future for us all."
This is a wonderful product really hope he intends to assist the some African countries with their food security problems. This would be a game changer as the transportation networks are slower here and food perish so much faster in these warmer climates
African countries don’t have food insecurity problems. They are at the mercy of foreign businesses that force them to grow mono-crops for export rather than feed their own. Do your own research.
For Avocados and fruits that don't have edible skins, I see it can be a good idea but I wonder with other fruits like strawberries, does this stuff wash off easily? There is the saying "The longer your food lasts the shorter you will." This is because our guts are basically filled with bacteria and if they don't want the food, we suffer :(
If the coating doesn’t contain any carcinogenic elements. And nothing that can’t be discarded through the liver. I’m certain you can eat it, and get the full nutritional value provided by whatever crop you are going to be consuming. That’s what your government food regulations are for. To determine what is edible. If his company is selling it and it's valued in the billions. It's likely to be doing wonders for the world. I mean, I would assume so.
"Apeel is made of plant-derived materials -lipids and glycerolipids -that exist in the peels, seeds, and pulp of all the fruits and vegetables we already eat." - from their website.
Before selling anything for consumerism you have to be approved by the FDA. At least in my country it works like that. You can still do your own research.

give it time. many things are developed in first world countries that make our lives better in minor ways but then they eventually spread to the 3rd world which massively improves their lives.
@@modelka222 I'm from Africa too. Its the lack of governmental will and greed. You think the government can't afford to build a cannery to can food or they can't freeze it? They can - they'd rather throw it away than feed people because there's no profit in full stomachs.
@@jn8922 Private enterprises is the only real solution.
There are many natural ways to preserve food. There are many parts of Africa that's been practicing this for thousands of years, all it needs is to teach it to as many farmers and people as possible.
Be aware of Western corporate products, it's mostly filled with chemicals that causes cancer and other health problems. All they care about is profit!

This man actually help me in getting $36,000 worth of Shiba Inu after investing.I can never forget Instant profit
Good on you he shows it's about team effort not him self
If he’s really interested in helping the world surely it should be open source technology
He can still be really interested in helping the world while still making a profit and providing tons of jobs to workers. He just might have the same values as you do and wants to make sure that he protects his idea and is in a position to help as many of his employees in the way that both of you agree is the best. Just because he doesn't give away his idea to some rich investor or some clowns who want to use it for their own selfish needs doesn't make him the devil.
Making it open source would be even better tho
@@casualguy3938it's a chemical
Nice, but how did he figure out how to create the special coating? How long did that take?
Everyone talking about how bad the edible coating might be. Fruits have a natural coating. This is made out of that. Watermellons White looking powder on the surface is this. Buy 2 watermellons, clean one of them really well. then leave both and watch the difference. The product exists on nature. it can't be hard to create a product of it imo,

Ummm, has anyone tested if it's toxic?
What is the company really doing with the fruits?
It is made of plant-derived materials-lipids and glycerolipids-that exist in the peels, seeds, and pulp of fruits and vegetables. It's a powder added to a water formulation that growers, suppliers, and distributors can apply to the surface of produce that dries into a peel. Non-GMO
@@brederbeeld Its Non-GMO but the fruits and veggies are already GMO

Beeswax is traditionally used on some produce to slow down spoilage, so his formula must be similar maybe a synthetic wax.

So many questions I have is this safe ? Is it FDA approved? How does he know that this thing is safe for our body and any long term side effects, maybe I miss understood I heard it’s a paint like a wax but what is it exactly?
Would like to know exactly what is in the coating and if there are any humain exsperments or labels that would be needed or warning

World Hunger is often misconstrued as not having enough resources to grow food, but that's a fallacy.
This is great, thank you for sharing.
Impressive!! 💪🔥

Edible coating, because of stuff like this the American food is the worst and the most dangerous, they do not care what will that coating do to the human body, they only care how much money they can make. And they are very proud of that.

arent we already adding enough chemicals to our food ?
What exactly is he spraying on the food? Aren't we missing scrutiny on this question? Is it safe?
Found this on their website.
"And just how do we do that? Apeel uses materials that exist in the peels, seeds, and pulp of all fruits and vegetables to create a protective extra peel that seals moisture in and keeps oxygen out. That means our produce stays fresh, nutritious, and delicious twice as long. It also means less produce goes to waste throughout the supply chain-from grower to retailer to consumers at home. Less waste for you means less waste for the planet and a more abundant future for us all."
World hunger is about profit and capitalism, not lack of food.
This is a wonderful product really hope he intends to assist the some African countries with their food security problems. This would be a game changer as the transportation networks are slower here and food perish so much faster in these warmer climates
The issues in African countries wrt food security are largely due to politics, not food itself
African countries don’t have food insecurity problems. They are at the mercy of foreign businesses that force them to grow mono-crops for export rather than feed their own. Do your own research.
Africans are still waiting on white men to solve their problems??? Really… wow

Yea we aren’t sure of how toxic the coating is, gotta look into it
Dog don't eat carrot coated with this staff according to poul Gourchti
If the coating doesn’t contain any carcinogenic elements. And nothing that can’t be discarded through the liver. I’m certain you can eat it, and get the full nutritional value provided by whatever crop you are going to be consuming. That’s what your government food regulations are for. To determine what is edible. If his company is selling it and it's valued in the billions. It's likely to be doing wonders for the world. I mean, I would assume so.
"Apeel is made of plant-derived materials -lipids and glycerolipids -that exist in the peels, seeds, and pulp of all the fruits and vegetables we already eat." - from their website.
did the FDA ever even test this? seriously? am I missing something here? I am not comfortable with consuming any of produce that been dip in this.
Before selling anything for consumerism you have to be approved by the FDA. At least in my country it works like that. You can still do your own research.
