How I Built A Food Start-Up Called Goldbelly | Founder Effect

  • Here's how one man's love of food led him to raise $130 million for his start-up called Goldbelly, a nationwide overnight delivery food service.
Building a successful business at scale is extremely stressful. Marriage with a young child takes an enormous amount of communication and patience. Combining the two seems impossible.
But so far Joe and Vanessa Ariel, the couple behind pandemic darling Goldbelly, are making it work.

It's interesting that this is his 2nd big adventure. I think that people that are super creative and like to build businesses once they succeed at something they just keep going and do something else to stay busy and keep being creative.

As a merchant. They charge me back for ups delays. They come up with customer complaints that never happened and not only do I get charged back the $42. They charge me back their portion which is $50-60 on top of that. Goldbelly never loses money. And then they file ups claims and I the merchant am out. They destroyed my business. We are going public with everything this week.

I had this idea and even told couple of restaurant owners but I didn’t know how to execute.. After moving to Texas, I wanted some food from Chicago so bad .. and I also wanted to send some Texan food to Chicago .. anyways we all have ideas but executing is another level .. good work 👍
