I just want to say how glad I am you are on the mend. Currently going through this and its recurrent episodes. Like you it has taken its toll on my health as I was an avid runner prior to my first episode. Thank you for sharing your story.

Interesting, I’m a 30 year old electrical engineer who has had recurrent pericarditis since I was 23. I’ve had probably 7-8 episodes total and they seem to be getting somewhat worse in severity and seem to be lasting longer in duration with each new episode. I’m concerned about developing constrictive pericarditis as my pericardium calcifies more and more with each new episode. I’d love to visit the Cleveland clinic and see the best heart specialists around and explore different options for my situation. Thanks for sharing your story Nancy.

Sad to read all that. How have you been since that?

Did CT scans show you have calcification or is it something the cardiologists say as a general truth ? Asking bc mine is pretty elusuve about my life expectancy...

@@Waldgeist721 believe it or not, I ended up going to Cleveland Clinic and was told I don’t have recurrent pericarditis. The MRI showed the tiniest amount of scarring from what they believed to be the first episode I got in 2016 and all the subsequent “episodes” weren’t actually pericarditis but probably anxiety mimicking the pain of pericarditis. Very weird but just happy that my heart according to them showed absolutely zero issues whatsoever even though I was still feeling pain up to that point. Once I found all this out, my pain has practically gone away… almost as if the fear and worry I was giving myself thinking I kept getting pericarditis was causing me physical pain. Hard to understand how to interpret all of this but as of now, I have zero pain, inflammation, etc and am back to working out and running. Very odd lol

@@MilosObilic123 zero calcification on MRI, only the tiniest bit of scar tissue in one spot that has no impact on my heart function. MRI also showed zero inflammation. See comment I provided above. This whole thing is so damn weird. I feel like I’ve gotten pericarditis like 10 times in the last 8 years, but I’ve never had the inflammatory markers or positive test results to reflect that, only the pain that felt like peri. Cleveland clinic thinks I did have peri back in 2016 but only that 1 time, otherwise I should have much more scar tissue and more evidence to demonstrate previous or active inflammation but I don’t have any of that

I also hope she didn't . I suffer from the same disease as her except recurrent pericarditis doesn't qualify for full disability in my country so I'm cooked. I'll probably die from it.
