  • On this road trip across the amazing island of Java, Indonesia I ride my Honda CB500x motorbike into the city of Jogjakarta (sometimes know as Jogja - or Yogya).
    But first we stop off at the UNESCO world heritage site of Borobudur, which is the largest Buddhist temple IN THE WORLD!! And it is in absolutely fabulous condition and is 1600 years old (at least).
    Also near Borobudur is Bukit Remah, also known as “Chicken Church” which is an oddly shaped house of worship that resembles a chicken. But it is actually a Dove, and it’s not even a church, it’s a place where anyone can go to meditate or pray. Regardless of religion.
    Then it’s onto the city of Jogjakarta which is a special region that has a Sultan who lives in a Palace. Around the palace is the Kraton which is small streets with lots of character, in this area are old building such as the water palace and lots of other hidden and secret places. It was so much fun getting lost around here. One of the highlights of Jogjakarta for sure!
    Then finally onto the amazing Prambanan temple complex which is very close to Jogjakarta! This is the largest Hindu temple complex in indonesia and it also has a section which is Buddhist. This site has also been wonderfully restored after it was found in ruins. Some of the most staggering artwork and cultural site I’ve ever been to!
    I loved every minute of Central Java and the special region of Jogjakarta.
    Anyway, enjoy the video and please dont forget to like and subscribe to me if you haven't already. I am exploring Indonesia on a Honda CB500X motorcycle and vlogging the journey. Stay tuned.

    There are lots of ancient buildings in Jogja, some of them are still not announced to the public because artefacts are often stolen. There was once an artifact stolen from a temple in Jogja which was then auctioned off in Siangpura but was caught and returned. Even in my village there were several artifacts that were found, there were also artifacts that were found in the library of a campus which later when it was excavated turned out to be a temple. Jogja was the capital of a kingdom called Mataram in the past, because of that many ancient buildings were found. If you go to eastern Java to be precise in Trowulan, the temple there is different from the temple in Jogja because there is the capital of another kingdom called Majapahit. The building there uses bricks as its components rather than river stone as in Jogja, Majapahit was the largest kingdom in the Nusantara (the name of the southeast asian achipelago in ancient times).😊

    How is the weather in bali in March? I was thinking to visit bali next march but not sure is the weather going to be good

    • @IndoWild
      @IndoWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The weather is usually fine then. The only months when the rain is predictably bad is Dec-Feb where it will rain most days.
      March is usually fine. But it can still rain.

    There is actually an underground mosque at Taman Sari. Sadly you couldn't find it. The new/refurbished rocks at the temple usually have a dot in the center as can be seen at 18:40

      @@IndoWild Sadly with that stupid restriction tourist not fully enjoy their visit. I have to add a little correction tho. Jogja is not within Central Java. But it is a special province with the only monarchy left in the country.

    1:16 so basically until Europeans arrived, Indonesians didn't think it was necessary to restore this amazing historical building:o Probably because it is Hindu and their religion is Muslim
